Hey Mister Satch! I donno if you have heard of this guitar player, but his name is Guthrie Govan, and he is freakin amazing! So much so, that I strongly suggest contacting him to see if he would like to go on one of the next G3 tours in the future. I guarantee he would rock the house every night you played. Thanks!

That Guitar World set of vids is fantastic! Thanks Peace for sharing the link. Joe is so in his element talking about Jimi and Jimi's playing, and all the tinkling he does to expalinwhat he's talking about is fab. Can't understand some of the technical talk but it's mesmerising to watch. I wonder if Jon webby shot that or a GW person? It's clearly in Sammy's studio.

If anyone knows this one...Feel free to answer.

I noticed that Joe had a clear sticker of some kind on his chrome Ibanez JS. I'm guessing it acts as a pickguard. I have an Ibanez arch top, and I wanted to get a similar pickguard. I wanted the self adhesive to not mess up my clear coat.

Any idea who makes that clear self-stick pickguard?

Thanks. =)

Thanks Don, Scuba, Michelle and Tracie :)

It was an awesome night!! Here are the Dream Theater pics. You should not need a facebook account to see them but let me know if you can't get in.

Chelle, I think the pics answer your question :) Definitely in front of Petrucci. And for Maiden's set, Janick Gers played in front of me as well. He's a definite showman!

Hanging out in Albuquerque for the remainder of the day, I was gonna catch tonight's show in Phoenix but never realized that it's a 7 hour drive!!! I was going to miss an in-store appearance from Portnoy, so I decided not to beat up my car. Still, it was a night to remember :D :D :D Later y'all!!

I was just recently shown this ABSOLUTELY AMAZING BASSIST. His name is Victor Wooten and he is the bassist for a band that goes by the name Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Here is his excellent, mind boggling, more than flawless interpretation of Amazing Grace. It would be awesome if you went on tour with him once, Joe.

After being nominated by his wife, Perla Hudson, and dear friend, Clifton Collins, it is with great pleasure to let you know that the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced today that Slash will be a recipient of a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star in 2011. The date of the ceremony has not been scheduled yet, but once it is we will let you know and we hope that you would be able to join us in celebrating this honor with Slash.

Lotza_Noize / cosmic_ape - I don't know any more than either of you, but I've always assumed that the clear sticker wasn't intended to be a pickguard, but was there to keep the chrome from peeling off the guitar. I know Joe has complained about how that happens (and besides, Joe's other guitars don't have pickguards).

I've seen his chrome guitars from fairly close at gigs and noticed what looks like air bubbles under the plastic. So if it's not something silly like plastic wrap or packaging tape, it's probably a simple static cling-type thing like what cosmic_ape posted. It definitely isn't a hard piece of plastic though.

elpp - Awesome pics! I know you had the "first to the barrier" pass, but what time did you get there? And how long was the GA line at that time?

Also, I've never seen Iron Maiden, so...where's the best place to watch their show? I'd like to be between John Petrucci and center stage for Dream Theater, I'm thinking. Do IM's guitarists roam all over the stage? What side does Steve Harris play on?

oxley11 - Victor Wooten is insane! I saw him with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones back in 2007...what a show! He slides harmonics better than anyone I've seen.

I know there are some Dave Matthews Band fans here, so here's a video of Victor onstage with them from the late 1990s:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuBSsfmGM6E

His solo starts at about 6:45, but the whole song is worth listening to because he adds a lot of fills throughout.

michelle - Awesome news about Slash. Rush is getting their star on the Walk Of Fame next week...I'm going to try to be there. :-)

Austin: I got there 2 1/2 hours before show start (they told us to be there at that time), and the lines were not too bad, about 100 people total. I assume everyone there was GA, why wait over an hour in the sun if you have a reserved seat?? :) By the time everyone with a pass got in, front row was full, but took quite a while for the rest of the pit to get semi-crowded, as they didn't sell the full capacity of the pit.

The spot you want is exactly the spot where Steve Harris plays - most of the time. I was on the right side of the stage and you can see Steve on some of the pics playing next to Janick. Steve does roam quite a lot, Dave and Adrian stay on the left side pretty much the whole show and Janick stays on the right. And Bruce...I'm still trying to catch Bruce!!!

So if I was gonna attend another show, I would grab the spot you're thinking of. Bring lots of cash 'cause you're gonna like the shirts!! Enjoy!!!!
