Since we're all talking about DVD's, is anyone having problems with their new Chickenfoot DVD?

Near the end (during Turning Left) the video freezes up in a couple of different spots. It's happening on both of my DVD players. I went back to Best Buy to exchange it and the new one is still doing the same thing. There were no scratches on the either disk.

Any comments?

jsTony: My CF-DVD freezes up as well, don´t quite remember which song, but the freeze-up is there!! What can we do about it??

jstony, yep, my CF DVD freezes up at one point too. Not positive if it's at Turning Left, but it very well could be. It's just a small glitch, but still a bit bothersome.

Ride a bike for a great cause.

This morning we launched I RIDE FOR LIVESTRONG, a dynamic, virtual version of the Tour of California, where I will be racing starting on Sunday. This online event allows you to create your own virtual bike, tell us who you ride for (a survivor or caregiver who has inspired you) and race through the California landscape using your story to invite more people to join us in the fight against cancer.

When we talked to our partners at RadioShack about the campaign, they raised the stakes: If we can get 10,000 people to join the ride in the next 48 hours, RadioShack will donate $75,000 to LIVESTRONG. It’s an amazing opportunity and we are thankful for their support. But we can’t get there without your help.

Join the ride

This year, cancer will become the #1 killer in the world. If we get 10,000 people to join the ride, the $75,000 gift will go a long way toward supporting survivors and pushing leaders around the world to dedicate more resources to the fight against cancer.

The Tour of California, the largest cycling event in America, kicks off on Sunday, and each of us at Team RadioShack will bring a personal hero along for the ride. The I RIDE FOR stickers on our bikes will bear the names of survivors and caregivers who inspire us. At even the steepest climb in the race, they’ll remind us that, in the fight against cancer, unity is strength and no one should ride alone.

But we're just eight guys and there are millions of stories to tell. That’s why we launched I RIDE FOR LIVESTRONG, a virtual version of the Tour that allows you to create your own bike and tell your own story about who inspires you. Now, more than ever, we need to talk about the global cancer crisis—if something doesn’t change, one in two people will have to fight cancer by 2030. We have to fight back, we have to tell our stories and we have to push leaders around the world to dedicate the energy and resources necessary to see a world without cancer in our children’s lifetimes.

I RIDE FOR LIVESTRONG is a great way to build our movement and today we have a huge opportunity to generate support for the cause by raising $75,000. We need your help. Will you join the ride?

Join the ride

LIVESTRONG,

Lance Armstrong

I was wondering why no one was complaining here about fixing the video rather than the audio, I guess since it's a possibility I will wait for the decision to be made before buying LIP. From what I've read here, I will probably not like the current version. Not an effects kind of guy.

I didn't notice a bad DVD audio either, but I will send it to be replaced. II Sony says V2 is better, why should I keep the V1 ?

the bouncy, boing thing takes me back to 2008. Joe, won't you miss Palau de la Musica in Barcelona this time, will you? Palau has at least two votes, Slan's vote and mine.

I suppose I got all of my complaining about the LIP DVD out of the way when it was released. Two of my three copies are still in plastic, and the other one I figured I'd never see again after I put it back in the case. But to hear there is talk of releasing an unaffected version kind of re-energized me last night. I would gladly pay double to have a straight up concert DVD. I suppose I'll send my opened copy back to Sony for a replacement and keep the other two for posterity, lol.

When the Live! DVD came out I remember there was a problem with the track order on the initial pressing of the first CD. I believe Redshift Riders and FIABD got switched. I called the record company like 5 minutes after I opened it and they sent me a new one, before they started the mass recall where you actually had to exchange your CD for a new one. I've always kind of clung to my defective CD as kind of a collector's item.... kind of dumb. I'm sure everyone that reads this probably has the same defective CD..

On another note.. I didn't notice any problems with freezing on my CF DVD, or any problems with the audio when I ripped it off the disc. Also, I was able to record the audio from the Grove at Anaheim Webcast (7 April, 2005); I know some of you were there and it was a kick ass show anyway (Up in the Sky, Locusts, Sleep Walk, Starry Night, Bamboo, Strange, Hands in the Air, Psycho Monkey, ITLIS? just to name a few) if anyone is interested in that....
For those of you who have not seen the 'cast or want to see it again here it is. FYI that is a quick time movie.

Ian

-Most long DVD's over 120 mins. freeze up for a short moment, where they go to the next layer.
-Would buy DVD without the graphics (and by then also improved sound) so will wait for final release with everything right.
-Waiting for Joe's autumn tourdates in NL....

The LA City Council approved a boycott of Arizona today. I think this is ridiculous, as the boycott doesn't extend to US Airways flights (an Arizona company) and the Department of Water and Power's energy purchases from Arizona. What good is a boycott if it isn't across the board?

Also, the Pew Research Center's latest poll shows most Americans are in favor of Arizona's immigration bill.

Are there any Avenged Sevenfold fans here? Their drummer died late last year, so they asked Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater to play on their new album. You can listen to a 30-second sound clip here. I really hear MP's style slipping in during the last 10 seconds or so.
fibonacci1618 - We get into big setlist discussions here every few months or so. I like your idea and would love to see more album songs that were never played on that album's tour. I think Asik Veysel, The Souls Of Distortion, Chords Of Life, and Flavor Crystal 7 would be great in a future set.

There isn't anything wrong with songs like Devil's Slide, Starry Night, or Super Colossal, but instead keeping them in the setlist for the next year's tour I think it'd be neat to give new stuff a try.

I know I'm not a typical fan, though...

michelle - Yeah, I hardly ever listen to the radio either. Classic rock stations are almost as bad. The quality of the music is better, but it still bugs me how radio stations stick to such a small playlist. You don't need to stick to one of the same five Van Halen or Rolling Stones songs every time you play that band, you know?

I've had my car for five years and I probably haven't listened to the radio in it for more than five *hours* all combined. I love my CD changer. :-)

turbo236 - Yeah, I remember that about the Satriani Live! CDs, but I never sent mine in to be replaced...oh well. Also, the G3 Live In Tokyo album was one of the albums that had the copy protection rootkit on it that could potentially open people's computers to hackers...I believe they had an exchange program for that, too (again, though, I kept my CD...I've just made sure not to listen to it on my computer).
Listening to: Thieves & Liars - When Dreams Become Reality (current song: Good Times)
