Al - you'll be absolutely fine. Just head straight to the islands. A shame, cos Bangkok is a great city to visit.

Might get to see it on the way back in a few weeks time, but its only one of the many cities we're heading too, so its ok

Fly over with 1 stop in Abu Dhabi in the UAE... a total of 14 hours... wait 5 hours in bangkok > get an hour plane > get a 7 hour ferry > make it all in one piece to Koh Samui!

easy peasy right... we miss the fast ferry by like 30 mins! takes 1.5 hours intead... but oh well, will be a looooooooooooong 1.5 days but worth it

I do indeed... i just booked my flight down south there a few moments ago... I shall be dining with an "uncle chins, chicken rice combo" for the inflight meal... how funny is that!

But yes, got to ferry it up from S.T to Samui

lets hope the volcano doesnt go on a mad one in the up and coming days, really hope it all works out

Its been a while since i posted anything - like years even.

I was just reading up on what Joe is up to lately and it boggles the mind. Joe is the real deal. He loves music, plays with all types of talent, constantly creating new stuff, and never stops. I don't follow many musicians to know for a fact but Joe must surely stand out in this category. Most other people with his success just manage the money and make fan appearances once in a while. Not Joe. He just keeps going and going like the energizer bunny. Bigger than his stature of guitar GOD is his HUMANITY. His work ethic, genuine personality, his "love for the game" really shines, and I just have to say how admirable that distinction is to me. A real guitar hero for sure.

Please raise your glasses and join me with a drink for Joe...may he continue to shine with happiness.

Cheers

OK guitar peeps, who is gonna explain to the lay persons here exactly what is meant by "phrasing"?

Phrasing is spending the weekend watching a box set of old TV shows starring Kelsey Grammer......

but really it is note selection and sequencing

"Music. the grouping of the notes of a musical line into distinct phrases. "

HI Joe, I am a student in my lower-sixth year at Portadown college. And I'am playing one of your piece,(cryn') for my music practical. I want to know what your main objective where, when composing this piece? What was on your mind?Did you achieve your aims? And finally what did you want to convey to the listener? Thanks Matty

Here's an idea Joe, ever thought about doing a series of shows focussing only a sub-set of your music? For example,.

Joe Satriani - The Ballads or Joe Satriani - Love Songs

I'm sure Austin will let me know if you've already done something like that :0).

I have a couple of playlists on my ipod of only your ballads and love songs, and it's fantastic to sometimes get lost in those for a while. I had Cryin', Until We Say Goodbye and a few others on tonight whilst I was cooking dinner and I thought how fantastic it would be to see a whole show of you playing the really heartfelt songs. Don't get me wrong, I love the kickass shows as well, but this might open up a new angle for you.

It might also draw in some people who might not go with the normal set (the hard rock or shreddin ones). You have ample material for a 2 hour show, happy to share my suggested setlist.

Thoughts and comments anyone?
