Minimoog is listening to Raised on Rock by the Scorpions.

Yep, I think this is my song for the summer....not to mention the perennial favorite: Summer song.

Sugarfoot: Yep. With the recent rise in our dollar (or drop in yours would be more accurate to say) we Canadians are only coming to shop.

P.S. we are also cruising your women....just so you know.

Fair warning. ;-)

Mr. Satriani, I was wondering when you do you the harmonic right over your pick ups along with the whammy bar(I'v herd it called jet scream, satch scream, satrioni scream. I'm not sure what you call it. ) like in the chorus of surfing with the alein, does your guitar go out of tune even with the locking tremolo? Because mine does when I do it after about two times. Granted it's the tremolo and locking nut that came with the guitar, not a better separate one like your's probably is. Whether yours does or doesn't do you have any tips on how to keep it in tune? Any help would be greatly appreciated because I hate having to rebalance the tremolo. Thanks in advance. By the way I'm a very big fan of you and your music. You are an awesome guitarist. I'm sure you get that a lot but it's true.

I went to the Sting concert tonight and it was amazing!!!! He was playing with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra(RPCO) on his "Symphonicity" tour. He played a good amount of his famous songs along with some of his less famous songs that he doctored up with the Orchestra. And he also did about 4 or 5 Police songs. Some of his songs were "I Hung My Head", "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You", "Englishman In New York, "Desert Rose, "Fields Of Gold", "Russians", and much more others.

But I love especially what he did with Moon Over Bourbon Street. (This is not my video, but I'm glad I found it) He was wearing a cool vampire jacket for only that song. And that cool synthesizer in the middle part was just completely awesome.

He was walking in New Orleans late at night once, and he had this distinct feeling like somebody was watching and following him.

" Oh, you'll never see my shade............or hear the sound of my feet...........while there's a moon over Bourbon Street"

I read an analysis of the Justice Department's response to Arizona's immigration law in the New York Times. I thought it was pretty good, so here's the link:

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/08/us/08immig.html

An excerpt:

In the public outcry that followed passage of Arizona’s new immigration law, President Obama and other critics worried that it would lead to racial profiling. But while that concern has dominated the public debate and inspired a round of boycotts of the state, it played little role in the actual legal challenge the administration filed Tuesday against the law.

...

In this case it is clear the administration’s arguments in the court of public opinion took a backseat to those expected in the actual courtroom.

I thought all along that the racial profiling claims were ridiculous, and it bugs me that so much of the debate has focused on that when the legal challenge is based on something entirely different. I think everyone is to blame for that--politicians, the public, and the media. It's a knee-jerk reaction, and it doesn't do anyone any good.

Anyway, just sharing...

Do the Stu - Thanks for sharing. It's nice to know that among all of the hardships in this country right now, our fine gov't is about to set aside millions of dollars to fight a nearly bankrupt state on a law that should have been passed 30 years ago.

I think the biggest problem with this entire issue is that Washington has had it's d#ck stuffed between it's legs for over 30 years on this issue. One of the most over used terms in every presidential election for 3 decades has been "We need tough immigration law." Well, some woman decides to grow a set and actually implements the plan, and now Washington just can't live with that. They really should just re write this bill a little and make it mandatory that ALL people stopped for ANY reason by the police need to produce a SS card that can be verified. And then everyone can get their feelings hurt over this issue. But atleast it would equal across the board.

Death Cube K - lol. Yep, I also grew up in Maine and I can't think of too many Canadians I met in my lifetime that just had to jump the border and hang out in the woods of Maine with the Black Bear and Moose!

Michelle - Ya, I don't envy roofers or road crews during the summer months. That's just brutal work.

Ahhhh.....but one of the very first things I did when I got off the plane was stop at Amatos!

Scubz, if my face didn't hurt so bad I might be laughing a bit harder. Just sit the hell down and stay away from the stove at least. lol! Kitchen mishaps usually aren't as pretty. At least yer bones held firm old man :-) Hope yer feeling better soon.

Great weight loss secret... get an abscess tooth over a holiday weekend and have to wait four days for the dentist to be in. Instead of getting the spot of abscess (to put it nicely), the infection (aka PAIN) is traveling in my jaw up to my ear, down to the middle of my chin, and down my neck and into my lymph nodes. It hurts to move my head, swallow, and eating is just stupid. It literally feels like I have a broken jaw, and I can't even open my mouth a half inch. Started antibiotics Tuesday, but they're doing a whole lot of nothing. Gotta wait till this coming Tuesday to see the oral surgeon. Calling my dentist all day to try to get some pain meds because 4 Advil every 4 hours isn't doing anything. My luck, she's not in. GRRRR! I'm starting to consider Al's recommendation of just drinking Jager through a straw. He might be onto something.

Anybody need to piss and moan and get it out of their system? Go for it! lol! Today is Throw Down Thursday! Go on and get it off yer chest! lol!

Now, back to our regularly scheduled banter...

ps - Happy Birthday Mac! I miss ya, ya old fart! RIP

Michelle - Do a warm salt water rinse a few times a day. It will cut down on the swelling. Maybe rub some alcohol on your gums? Nothing worse than a toothache.

minimoog - I've only heard the song Let Me Hear You Scream once or twice and it hasn't done much for me. I love all of Ozzy's previous solo stuff, but to be honest I have no interest in buying an album at this stage in his career that doesn't have Zakk Wylde on it.

I'll probably buy it next time I see it in a store for cheap (that's the completist in me talking), but I won't go out of my way to get it.

hybes - It just bugs me that EVERYTHING has a political twist to it. Washington knew from the moment the law was passed that their racial profiling claim wouldn't hold up in court, yet it was spread all throughout the press anyway. They were fine with getting their Democratic base fired up against the Republicans, despite it being over a non-issue.

As a journalist it bugs me too, how reporters will just be spoonfed crap from one side and they'll repeat it in print without even thinking about it.

scubadaz - Ouch...I'm glad you're OK.
michelle - OUCH to you as well, and I hope things are OK.

What's the weather like in Philly today? It's even cooler in Long Beach than it was yesterday...64!
