In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

Yes we need to hold that torch high, that's a poignant poem Joe. We recently had ANZAC Day which is our day to honour our war dead and survivors. It's a huge day here and growing each year.

Hope everyone is well. Bob

Mikesb - I see part of the poem is on your $10 note, too.

What do you all typically do on Memorial Day there?

Skip, unfortunately we do not celebrate Memorial Day as a statutory holiday. Our only day of remembrance remains November 11 but it is not a stat holiday, only banks and government are shut down on that day. Many here consider the antiquated "Victoria Day" (celebrated a week ago) as an unofficial day of remembrance....

I HAVE BEEN A FAN OF YOURS FOR YEARS, I AM 62, AND I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU ARE TAKING SIDES WITH THE ILLEAGAL MEXICANS THAT DRAIN THE STATE THAT I LIVE IN. (ARIZONA) I HOPE THEY RAISE YOUR TAXES SOO MUCH THAT YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THE BURDEN WE HAVE HAD FOR YEARS. I ALSO HOPE THAT OTHERS LIKE ME WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING AGAIN FROM A NON PATRIOTIC US CITIZEN AGAIN. YOUR RELATIVES AND MINE CAME HERE THE RIGHT WAY, NOT THRU THE BACK DOOR. I AM DESTROYING EVERYTHING THAT I OWN THAT HAS YOUR NON PATRIOTIC NAME ON IT AND I HOPE OTHERS DO TO, LET THE ILLEAGALS, IF THEY CAN READ ENGLISH, BUY YOUR MUSIC

Joe, ya brought tears to my eyes. My heart can't take war. God Bless all those who serve, and may he protect and guide them and bring them home safely.

WAR Sing it Bob!

I woke up this morning to the school marching band going through the neighborhood. They should do that every weekend.

Since when is wanting human civil rights for EVERYONE unpatriotic?

If you don't stand up for what you believe, you stand for nothing!

Joe is NOT condoning illegal aliens, his is standing up for CIVIL RIGHTS!

Why aren't people getting upset about the fucking oil filling our ocean and ruining our planet. Guess that's just not important. They can't protest by throwing their cars away and not using any oil products maybe? Ya wanna protest something PROTEST THAT!!

Happy Memorial Day everyone. I hope everyone takes a moment out of their day today to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that the rest of us have the right to come on an open forum like this and speak our minds without fear of reprecussion.

I also don't feel Joe is sticking up for the illegal aliens. The real problem here is that it's going to take sacrifice to clean up this mess. That sacrifice is going to come at the expense of civil liberties. I think it's unfortunate that Joe has joined this protest. Not because he doesn't have a right to his opinion, but because at the end of the day it's the adoring fans of Arizona who have supported Joe's endevors for over 20 years who the ones who are going to have to sacrifice. I don't agree with Joe in any way on this matter, but I highly respect his convictions.

Michelle - Amen to that!!! Ijust read this morning that it might be August before this mess gets under control. This is really not good on any level at all for us. We NEED off shore drilling in this country, and this mess is going to really put a lot of question marks on the board.

I guess we should take a moment and hope for the best for the people around the Gulf Coast as well. That region has taken a real pounding in recent years.

good luck getting any civil rights in Mexico..haha..you can be jailed for years over a small crime and killed if your home if it is a strategic smuggling location..no phone call...no lawyer...so they come here..ruin the economy..dont pay tax but expect the schools and hospital care and every other right that i have to pay for..this could be completely eliminated if people wouldnt hire illegals or companies who hire illegals...so theres your cause...its the corrupt tax dodging employers who fault this is...Arizona is looking for a way out and i know the answer...U-Haul!

as for the oil...talking wont do a thing..its out of all humaan control..god bless all life affected by this disaster

As for Memorial Day..these men lost their life fighting for the rights of all Americans ...thats means legal ones who speak the language and respect our customs and the immigrants who are in process of being an American.

GLITZ MAN - Nice to see you write to me, thank you :). Hope you are ok. Many projects over here but my daughter is now the main project :). But i`m still playing the guitar, recording sometimes, giving concerts too :). Cheers bro :).

JOE SATRIANI - Very deep poem, thank you so much for sharing that with us.

MIKESB - Hello friend :) !

SLANSHROOM - Hello Roy, how are you? We are pretty good :). Hope you are ok too :).

MICHELLE - Hello dear friend, hope everyone is ok :). Btw i understand your words, sorry about the oil problems in USA, terrible indeed. I love the ocean as you know and BP is in a huge problem but the worst is the ocean, it`s dying that way :-/. Very sorry about that.

TO ALL: the Portuguese Nobel Prize of Literature José Saramago said once this: THE WORLD IS BAD AND THE HUMANITY SUCKS. About this i think that are strong but in many situations wise words. Sad but true :-/.

BEST WISHES TO ALL MY FRIENDS, HAVE A GREAT DAY!

LOVE

Millions of fans in all the world are with you, Joe, independently of your politic ideas and all those things...

You're the best... the very best...

I think everybody must respect the ideas of the rest. It's a mistake to mix your opinion with your music... specially when you're defending human rights... althought someone don't agree with those opinions.

I'll continue buying your products, and I'll go to all your concerts I can.
