Michelle: You're actually describing the El Paso / Juarez area :( Albuquerque is a bit higher up and it's not as dusty.

Austin: I got there 2 1/2 hours before show start (they told us to be there at that time), and the lines were not too bad, about 100 people total. I assume everyone there was GA, why wait over an hour in the sun if you have a reserved seat?? :) By the time everyone with a pass got in, front row was full, but took quite a while for the rest of the pit to get semi-crowded, as they didn't sell the full capacity of the pit.

The spot you want is exactly the spot where Steve Harris plays - most of the time. I was on the right side of the stage and you can see Steve on some of the pics playing next to Janick. Steve does roam quite a lot, Dave and Adrian stay on the left side pretty much the whole show and Janick stays on the right. And Bruce...I'm still trying to catch Bruce!!!

So if I was gonna attend another show, I would grab the spot you're thinking of. Bring lots of cash 'cause you're gonna like the shirts!! Enjoy!!!!

I spent part of tonight organizing some of my music souvenirs, and thought I'd share a quick picture:

http://twitpic.com/1xprnm

I know it's hard to tell what's what, but I just did this really quick. Setlists are from the John Butler Trio, Dredg, Eric Johnson, Tim Reynolds, Dixie Dregs, Joe Perry, Shinedown, and Davy Knowles. Then I have a booth setlist from this past Experience Hendrix tour and a crew schedule for Progressive Nation 2008.

The towel in the lower right is from Don Airey of Deep Purple. The bag next to that contains a bunch of Lacuna Coil and Shadows Fall autographs. Autographed ticket stubs include Mountain, Satch (and Jeff and Stu and Galen), Kaki King, Collective Soul, and Steve Morse. The bag of guitar picks includes some from Satch, Sammy Hagar, Lacuna Coil, Steve Morse (Deep Purple and solo), Dredg, They Might Be Giants, and many more...

elpp - Thanks a bunch for all that info! I heard someone mention on MP.com that the DT merch was packed up early at one show...was that true for you as well? I'd like to buy their 25th anniversary shirt, but I guess I can get that online later...I don't want to leave the pit.

Listening to: Aerosmith - Blind Man

Michelle--Gotta agree with you on S.M.F. being one of Joe's best songs......I'd say one of his best Blues songs. I would say it's an opener to a Satch Music Festival! Just an idea for what the abbreviation could be.......then again.

That girlfriend is seeing too much of the world......When is Al coming home? Don't his loved ones miss him???? I do :-/

Tracie and Michelle--I saw the movie, The Lovely Bones and I gots mixed feelings about it. It's interesting to see something from the 14-year-old girl's point of view even in the beyond. That murderer was so sick/twisted, made me feel like my skin was sliding off. How could anyone feel safe within 10 feet of him? Was there that much of a disconnect between the generations?

I love Joe and Steve Vai and Steve Morse and Andy Timmons and John Petrucci and Jeff Beck and all the instrumental guitarists that have the guts to play it and say it with their guitars, amps and selected gear......all the best sounds in the world! Father's Day is comin' up and a certain dad I remember from my youngest days may be gone but he's not forgotten.....I remember such good times with my dad, Joe.

Hi everyone!
just watching Joe (Made of Tears (Live 2006))

Question to all:
What you think Jimi Hendrix would comment listening/seeing Joe's performance??

Thanks,

One robot: that's a Good question I'm not sure I ask myself the same thing but remember Joe started playing after Jimi's death so if you think about it even though its still sad that he passed If Jimi didn't died we might not even have Joe's music to listen to,which I can't even think about.

Man, the US team got totally robbed today! I counted no less than 3 penalties that the referee did not call, and then there was no foul on the goal that got voided. Hopefully no one will get to see that referee again!

Austin: That's a cool collection dude!! One of the side benefits of attending a billion concerts :)

I did see that post, but at least in my show the merch was there when the concert ended, and it's a good thing that I bought my stuff there, I had thought about waiting until Phoenix to buy my things.

I'm pretty sure that Portnoy, being the ultimate fan advocate that he is, when he read that the shows were starting earlier and merch was being pulled off he must have complained - loudly. My show was listed at 7:30, doors opened at 6, maybe they had tried to push it up to a 7 start time, in the end DT came out at 7:25. Do keep that in mind and show up early dude!

It is finally Friday!!!

I'm done with the next installment of my Joe's titles passages. And this time I had full intention of making the passage with Joe's titles in it, so some of them might seem more blatant. But I think they still blended very well. I'm also running out of the more natural titles. This one is not so much as a statement, as it is more of a quandary. Something to give a little thought to. It's about dreams. (Not like hopes and dreams, but when when dream while we are asleep.)

Dreams. Elusive pieces of imagination. Like smoke on the water. Like delicate tears in the rain. Like the strange echo of an oriental melody playing in the distance. These colorful, vivid images intrigue us so. But the crazy ventures our brains experience are difficult for us to grasp. More exotic than music. Yet they inspire us like music would. We don't always remember the journey we take, but it always leads us somewhere. What are the resons for the enigmatic thoughts that go through our hed while we sleep? Are we searching for something unknown to us? Or are we dwellers on the threshold of a window to another realm? We may not quite understand it, but a parallel dimension could be awaiting us.

Hope everybody enjoys it. Try and find the most words. I think it was Glitz Man who took part last in this last time. Let's see if somebody can get all of them at once.

Has anyone heard Bonamassa's "Bridge to Better Day's" from Live from nowhere? I am trying to figure out where the riff that begins at 3:45 to 4:09 comes from. I know I have heard it somewhere before. Is it Deep Purple? Bugging the heck out of me!

Hi Everyone.

Hope everyone is doing well. Listened to the Live In Paris CD and it was excellent.

Elpp: Congrats on seeing Iron Maiden. Haven't seen your pics yet, but I will soon.

Mystical Robot & one_robot: I agree, we probably wouldn't have Joe's music if Joe didn't hear of Jimi's passing.

Do The Stu: Neat pics. BTW, you have a message from me on FB.

Oxley11: Just saw your new one: 1.) TEARS IN THE RAIN 2.) STRANGE 3.) ECHO 4.) ORIENTAL MELODY 5.) CRAZY 6.) THE JOURNEY 7.) THE ENIGMATIC 8.) SEARCHING 9.) DWELLERS ON THE THRESHOLD 10.) AWMAWY (Always used) I wasn't sure if that counts or not.

Pip55: Yep, you beat me before I got to it. ;-)

Axeshredder: Hey there! \m/

Busy this weekend, and the following week/weekend for me, and yes, it's work & running races. Looking forward to Sundays. The guitar store I work is being named/featured on our local radio for a month (on Sundays). We are hosting Acoustic Sundays on WXKE Rock104, our local classic rock station. WOO-HOO! SWEET! :D We're slowly, but surely, drawing more of the people's attention to our store. We already have two stores in our Fort Wayne area and we plan on getting another one of our stores up & running, and this one will be near Chiacgo.

Hope things are going well/smoothly for you Joe. I saw your message on Facebook & Youtube. Looking forward to your next project. I know it's early, but I hope you have a safe and wonderful Father's Day (this upcoming Sunday) with Rubina & ZZ.

TTYL everyone. Peace out! \mXm/

Grant

first off gotta give a big shout out to ALL MIGHTY JOE SATRIANI and the long time regulars on this site that make it feel like home...
was browsing through my ipod library the other day and was amazed to see this order...
Jimi Hendrix, Joe Satriani, Journey...
pretty good company your in Joe...really into Journey right now...especially the song, be good to yourself...the minute and a half guitar solo at the end is magical but then the song starts to fade out and you have to turn it up really loud to hear the solo but it's the best part. so worth it, just make sure to turn it down before the next song or it's like holy crap that's loud! :D

Anybody have any advice on which pedals should go first on my pedal board? I have it connected as follows: Vox Wah, then Satchurator, then my Phase 90, then the Time Machine (in that order). I'm running that into my Marshall MG100FX on a clean channel. Does that sound right to you pro's out there??
