Hey Joe. I'm not really sure whether this msg is actually going to get thru to you, but... I'm a Pakistani who's studied in an American International School, and I've been into western music since the day I first knew what music was, and rock has always been my thing. Having gone through many emotional things in life, i needed a medium to let out the feelings building up inside me. I took up guitar when i was 17, and now I'm 22. I love your music, and the deep emotions that you are able to express in your wordless yet heavy poetic music. I currently own a js-100 since i had no money to afford anything better, but I have been experimenting and tryin to learn on my own due to lack of resources. I wanted to send u an acoustic piece of mine, recorded simply through a mike using a laptop, and the entire lead is live improvization, so yes it kinda sucks but anyway. Just wanted to know if there is a medium thru which i cud pass it to you. I know this message is probably a message in a bottle unlikely to reach u but hey, there's always a bit of magic wen someone sends it with love. :) my email is guitarguru_rsb@yahoo.com. Thankyou for your time...

Hi Joe and everyone,

Thanks for the birthday wishes. The day didn't turn out quite the way I planned. Kinda sad really. Except for the dinner at the Island restaurant in Monterey. We didn't make it to Tahoe yet. Maybe September or October.....Sunday afternoon we went back to one our favorite coastal places in Cali--Monterey peninsula, Carmel, Pacific Grove and Marina. We stayed in Monterey Sunday and Monday nights. There's always something going on in that neck o the woods. Car races at Laguna Seca and Pebble Beach Concours winding down on Sunday. Monday, my birthday woke up to Steve having a minor health trauma and me going into one of my blue moods with almost non-stop tears. Then the evening with dinner at the Island brought me back to the land of the living.....waiter and hostess made us feel welcome and treated us like queen and king.....that helped cheer me up. I was wondering if having a few beers with Alan, even though I would get horribly sick, may have been better.....just dreaming once again! Music picked me up as well.....bought copy of Guitar World and just following the architecture of AC/DC's song "Highway to Hell" did the trick.

Song architecture is fascinating to me. The rythmn, flow, beat and tunings, chords......It's all sooooo goood!! Still lovin' ZZ's Song and its nuts and bolts and flow......so cool...Thank you, Joseph!

Hey guys! Nice to see you all here again! I wanted to ask if anyone knows when the Js guitar design contest is going to have its results published... Can anyone who is better informed than me help me with that? :) Thank you in advance.

not much to say anymore, except I'm listening to your work, Joe. Thank you very much!! > Love Thing (Crystal Planet album)

Hope your new album is coming out sometime; but not rushing it. Art is worth its time!

Wondering: Do you guys (fans and partners) play Joe's songs as for covers a lot or do you compose more?

Here's a little info on the Wormhole theory. Haven't had a chance to read it all yet, but along with the Black Swan Theory, this all seems right up Joe's alley.

Hey Satchland, comments and questions for everyone with the answers. I was watching the dvd for SWTA on the legacy edition rerelease from 2007 and these things came to mind. 1. Why isn't the actual Surfin song part of the dvd?

2. When Joe, Jon and Stu came onstage it was crickets, but by the end of the concert you could hear and see the crowd digging it. And the rest as we all know it now is Satch History.

3. Took me back to when I first heard Surfin' which was during the winter of 89-90. I heard it on the radio around the South Padre Island area of Southern Texas. All I could ask my cousins was who is this kicking my ass. "Some guy named Joe" is all they said.

4. I remember I played the label off of my cassette, then I bought it again and did it again. I think I still have the same DVD I bought in the 90's

5. and finally, My name is Blue Buffalo aka Freddy AND I AM A SATCHAHOLIC.... Who is in need of a new satch fix and my dealer of fixes is teasing me with album titles but no fix..lol

@bluebuffalo- It seems that a lot of people were introduced to Joe with SWTA or Time Machine, believe or not. I hear a lot of the usual with the SWTA story, but some strange Time machine stories. With Surfing With The Alien, it's basically people heard it on the radio and they stopped dead in their tracks. And the rest is history.

But for the Time machine, it's different. On Youtube, one guy said he was walking down the street and some guy handed him the Time Machine album brand new. The guy said (not quoting exactly) You will enjoy the music when you listen and because of that, you will buy the rest of his albums for years to come. Don't know if it's true or not, but why would somebody make it up. What's the point of lying on Youtube.

And there was another story. Also from Youtube. This one, is more believeable.

This guy has a brother who listens to Joe. He never cared to listen to his brothers musical opinions, so he lets it pass. Then he gets dumped by his girlfriend. She drops him off at some record shop. He walks up to it, finds the slightly damaged, two-disc Time Machine album lying on the ground outside the shop, and picks it up. Takes it home, pops it in, and listens to it. He has been "infatuated" with Joe music ever since.

Strange stories but I always enjoy finding out how people get into being a Satch fan. Mine isn't all too riveting.

@turbo236- Actually, big Youtube user, Chuggaaconroy, was talking about black holes on one of his videos, recently. I'm not sure if anybody here would know about him because he does commentary on Nintendo video games as he plays them. Anyway he was describing the theory that it would be "the most painful death" anybody could witness. Your body would go through "spaghettification". Everybody here probably has heard the theory that your body is stretched out just like spaghetti when you enter a black hole. Apparently it's worse than that. Check it out. Chuggaaconroy explains Black Hole Theory On Super Luigi Galaxy You only have to watch 7:07 to 7:44 to see what he's talking about.

My "intro to Joe" story, as told here on 02-25-03:

The story of my introduction to Satch isn't very interesting, but oh well. ;-) Back in 8th grade, a guitar-playing friend of mine introduced me to Eric Johnson's Cliffs Of Dover. I knew that song and liked it. I also thought his new song at the time, Pavillion, was really cool. So I bought a few EJ CDs, and eventually ended up with the G3 live album. I fell in love with Joe's music because of that CD. I think The Extremist was the first "real" Joe album that I bought, followed by Time Machine. I got into Crystal Planet after hearing Lights Of Heaven on the radio a few times...man, it's hard to imagine that there was a time when I could hear Joe on the radio...hehe.

When I started this post I thought I had the album title all figured out, but the more I think about it, the more I need to continue thinking about it. If that makes sense....

The man behind the idea says that black swans are "undirected and unpredicted" And a wormhole is basically a tunnel with two ends each in separate points in spacetime. The wormhole theory discusses using these for space travel and what not. As someone mentioned earlier, a Black Swan Event has to meet 3 criteria; I won't re post them, but maybe the title is just a reference to a 'wizard' traveling though space and time unexpectedly on a very important journey. A journey he knows nothing about until it is completed?

Or, most likely, I am dead wrong. I'll read a little more about the two when I have some more time because I have no idea what I'm talking about. Maybe Joe Satriani will give us some background on that name in the meantime??

Ian
