Scubadaz: so forgive my ignorance (Im still just learning this stuff) when you talk about intonation you mean ensuring that the tone on the open string is the same as on the 12th fret?

Pip55: yeah, That's a pretty slick instrument. A little intimidating for a n00B like me..LOL

okay I did a little JS20S demo on Utube. It's not very good because I'm still learning, but I know a little Joe....just a little

Hi Everyone:

Last Saturday, I did three runs: Ran the 10K Race in 39 minutes 12 seconds, and finished 8th out of about 150; plus finishing 1st in my age division. i also did the 5K but I used that as a cool down run. Those runs were in the morning, and I did my third in the evening. I also ran another 5K (on the track) in around 19 minutes and finished 17th out of about 25. It was sort of like the battle of the best for that 5K.

Been busy with the usual: work & running. Hope everyone is well.

Glitzy - Holla back boy haha well done buddy, sounds like a huge day to do 3-4 runs in one go? To me that's the equivalent of a 180km stage in the Tour de France or something.

Axe - the Carle Place peeps must feel real special, I wonder if they have a pic of Joe up at the high school?

Oh god, and yet another Tragedy thrown in Joe's way, as if he hadn't suffered enough. Mr. Satriani, I can't say I (or any of us fans) know what you're going through. Nor can I (once again, or any of us) give any advice without being offensive, or compare the situation at all to anything, as everyone means something different to everyone else.

I can give my firm opinion on the loss of a loved one: It's my opinion that when someone we value is lost, we use absolutely everything we have ever learned from them to better ourselves, and the general people. In their honor, it is our responsibility to give our finest efforts to rid the world further of whatever posed a nuisance to said loved one in their lives, as said nuisance surely never benefittied them to any degree. In regenerating the positive, and eliminating the negative, we can make this world a "better" place for all of us.

Cheers, ShadowLancer

Peace Lily thanks for posting the link to the Tarja Turunen video. I wonder how Joe came about being featured as a guest on this one? I thought I saw Doug Wimbish (bass player from Living Colour) in the video, maybe he helped to get them together?

Glitz Man! Glad to hear you are doing your thing, and having fun this summer. Still working like crazy?

Good day to everyone! Listen to some Joe!

Joe: As an educator I realize that a teacher is much more than a person who imparts knowledge. They are our mentors, our friends and they can positively impact the course of our lives. You have my condolences on the loss of your dear friend.

Minimoog - you did spot that neck was on a JS? It's was a Joe Prototype..

Good stuff on your clip - something that might help you, but when you're bending that F (11th fret G string) up (at 35s) you might want to give your third finger some more support by using 1st & 2nd behind it (to help push or pull).... might make the bends easier

bend with yer ring, a half step to the G, and add more strength into it with your middle finger...get using those other 2 fingers, yer only playing at 50% there!

this is the only time i'll give summer song advice ;)

and as for the chord, its just A thing going on as far as i can remember, play it on the 2nd fret or so or play it on the 7th... can't remember havn't played it in a while, whatever works and sounds good

Just dropping by to say that I picked up Steve Miller's "Bingo" and really enjoy this guitar-based throw-back featuring a very soulful Satriani on a couple of tracks. This record has remained at or near the top of the Billboard Blues chart since it was released about a month ago, and now I know why.

Oh yes, the Gangster of Love is back to laying it down the way he used to; back before the hits and I really hope we get to hear more of Joe in next year's follow-up release recorded during the same sessions out at Skywalker that must have been a real blast.

Does this mean that Joe is now "in the band'? I mean, it seems like Joe has been showing up in most of Miller's recent projects. Finally, a replacement for Les Dudek?

Have to say, however, that Sonny Charles is seriously challenging Miller for that Gangster of Love title as the absolute killer track of the new release ("Tramp") reveals:

Steve: "You must be some kind of country tramp" Sonny: "Country tramp?" Steve: "Yeah, you're a country tramp" Sonny: "Oh, you can call me that, but you know you don't know me that well, see, you know cause I keep a pocketful of money" Steve: "How much you got?" Sonny: "I got me three Cadillacs, two spare tires, and I just brought me a liqour store with a hot tub. And guess what girls - it's ladies night! "

I saw them play this live last year; working it out on the road before they went into the studio to track it (back when bassist Billy Peterson was still in the live lineup) and I was floored by all that attitude and precision - Miller is a class act, all the way.

Pip, Blue and Scuba: Thanks for the great advice everyone! I'm always open to that. Yeah my guitar teacher keeps telling me to take advantage of the power in my other fingers when bending notes. I've developed a bad habit there and I need to force myself to break out of it.

I find that most of my challenges playing guitar are related to breaking bad/sloppy habits and establishing proper technique. I can almost hear it in my sleep: "drop your wrist down Matt!"

Thanks again guys. As I progress, I think T2J could be a helpful forum for learning from more experienced guys. Especially with the advent of Utube and such.
