Pictures: New Proof Spiral Galaxies Eat, Digest Dwarfs

The pics were kind of cool so I thought I'd share..fits with the "Black Swans and WormHole Wizards " vibe... :-)

Safe travels to all traveling to see Chickenfoot this week-end and don't forget to tell us all about it.

So am I the only one who heard Satch's Crowd Chant during the NFL pregame stuff in New Orleans earlier today? I thought for sure someone else would have posted that by now...

michelle - You're not one of the crazy fans I mentioned...come on, you should know you've always been in your own category. ;-)
DistortedSoul - I don't know much about Fates Warning, but I do know they have a few links (they've toured together in the past, etc.). However, I was under the impression MP was the main connection between the two bands...like, he was the one who was friends with the FW guys more than anyone else in the band. If that's the case, I'm not sure Mark Zonder would fill in for MP out of respect.

I have my ticket for the show at the Chicago Theater on Dec 19, and Joe, I paid my money to see your show without caring one iota who the opening act is, or even whether there would be an opening act or not. I know I'm going to get my money's worth from you and the guys in your band. Having said that, I would like for a change to enjoy a concert without having to suffer through another so-so opening act. I've been going to concerts since 1974, and I invariably dislike the opening act(s)- the handful of notable exceptions to this being The Sensational Alex Harvey Band when they opened for Deep Purple at Munich in '74, Eric Johnson with you at the House of Blues a few years ago, and Scott Holt who opened for Buddy Guy at Legends last January. Those openers were great- my experience has been that most aren't, and having just visited his site and sampled his music, I have to tell you that I'm not dying to see Ned Evett. Personally, I would like to enjoy a show without the whole routine of waiting for the opening act to come out, then suffering through their set while glancing at my watch every few seconds, then waiting for the main act to come out, etc. Is there some law that says there has to be at least one opening act at every rock concert? I say lets ditch the opening acts and go straight to the main attraction! I'm more concerned with the quality of a show, as opposed to the quantity of it (I chose Beta over VHS). I wouldn't feel the least bit cheated if there was no opening act. I probably wouldn't feel tired out and ready for bed afterwards either...

hello joe i was wondering about gitar effects i,m finding it difficult to get the sounds i,m looking for i bought a boss GT8 which has some very good presets althought creating presents isn,t so easy.. i,ve been thinking about making my own chain effects instead which pedals would you recommend and in which order should they be placed.. i like a mixture of sounds from very heavy distortion to very spacey sounds.. i tend so find some spacy sounds are not really usable when playing.. thanks for the moment

Joe, could you please hit Albuquerque again on your 2nd leg. I saw your incredible show last time with plans to have my 14 year old son there but he was out and couldn't make the show. He's an enormous fan of yours and he has to see your show. We'll do Denver if we have to but It would be sweet to see you back down here.

Thanks,

Austin, that's cool they were playing crowd chant. I listened to the 1st qtr of the game on the radio. So I didn't catch it. I know on sportscenter they're always using House Full Of Bullets in a different tone.

Hi joe could you help me with your opion of effects pedals which pedals do you recommend? in which order should the pedals be placed in an effects chain

i have a boss gt8 some of the factory presets are good but i find it difficult to make my own effects chains with it do you know some sites that give good settings for the GT8 in which you are taken through the process step by step

i like heavy sounds lots of gain and crunch and also spacey sounds

I have just had to re-arrange my mini satch tour and sell the tickets for Manchester and purchase Birmingham ones instead because of the clash with my studies. Bummer! Oh well, Bristol and Birmingham is still great. Rock on'

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry is 60 today...happy birthday to him!

In other band news, there are a few live "bass cam" videos from Tom Hamilton up on Aero Force One:

http://www.aeroforceone.com/index.cfm/pk/content/pid/1318461

Scroll through the player to see all three of 'em.

Back to Joe, here are a few links:

- Aerosmith - Walk This Way
- Aerosmith - Amazing (maybe my favorite JP solo...it starts at 3:38; this version of the song is the orchestra remix)
- Joe Perry - Wooden Ships (instrumental...dedicated to Les Paul)

Enjoy!

I'm suprising my son with tickets to the show in Manchester in a few weeks time. He's been playing guitar for about 2 yrs and now never stops playing surfing with the alien (see matthew beckett joe satriani on you tube). My question is that if I also pay for the $250 special extra for him to meet Joe and Have his beloved Ibanez signed would it be ok as he would only be 14 a few weeks after the event. Also would I need to drop him off at the door or would I come in with him? Sorry for the silly questions, I just want it to be a great day for him.

Peace. S.T.

Oxley11: Great video on the sunrise & thanks for the shout-out. Sorry you are not able to go see Joe. Don't feel bad dude, I can't go either due to my running schedule and work. Can't always get what you want. It is a tough economy now these days. I'm glad I do have a job right now serving guests/waiting tables (five years and counting). I'm sure you'll find a job as well. A good job-start (and I tell this to a lot of others who are looking for their first job or continuing to find work) would be to bag/stock groceries/shelves at convenient stores like Wal-Mart for example. Are there any stores around your area. Count the fruits or your labor (what you have and be thankful). Sooner or later, someday you'll be seeing Joe in concert. I've seen him one time when he came to Fort Wayne (at Sweetwater)for an Ibanez showcase. We couldn't get any autographs/signings or pics with him because of the Hendrix Tour, but he did perform a few songs for us. To be honest, seeing him perform up close was probably the best thing ever when he visited. Stay positive dude. \m/

Blue_Moon: Just saw your post on Bad Romance. That's pretty good. Maybe we should replace Lady Gaga's version for your version and hear that on the radio more often, LOL.

Blackmoon: Hope things are going well for you since the break-up.

Light Years Away is awesome. I can't wait for BSAWW.

Best to Mike Portnoy.

Those seeing Chickenfoot, have fun.

Might be doing a run/race on Saturday. If I do it, wish me luck.

Grant
