Finally getting around to looking through pictures from Chickenhoe and recouping my thoughts from the concert. I'm finding that a lot of the pics that I took didn't turn out as well as I had expected. Out of 110 pics, I'd say I'll have about 20 good ones. I don't know if someone else tinkered with my settings or if I was just too much into the concert to focus on my picture taking, but I usually get better pictures than this. I'll get them posted when I finish weeding the blurry ones out.
As far as the show goes, Austin and Tracie both covered it pretty well. Aaron Hagar and the Wabos were a great start to a great show. A couple songs that stood out for me were Rock Candy, Summer of 69, and especially Halfway to Memphis. Like Tracie said, Aaron is a chip off the ol' rock; it was just like watching a young Sammy up there with his own band. In fact, Sammy watched most of their set from the side of the stage, and Aaron kept looking over at him and even asked at one point if he was satisfied with his performance.
This was only my 3rd time seeing Chickenfoot; 2 of which have been at Tahoe and the other being the famed Seattle road test show that was shut down by the City Fire Marshal. That being said, I think that the Seattle show has actually been my favorite show so far, even though the venue was horrible. But, even though I wasn't there, I think the DVD is the best I've seen the band perform together. That's probably why they chose to release the Phoenix show.
As Austin said, there was a little flub as Joe was coming out of 'Learning to Fall', but they recovered so well that I don't think most people noticed it. I also remember that Joe was a little late coming in to "Avenida" as Chad started pounding away, but again, I don't think anyone noticed. There were a couple other places I noticed that Chad got a little off beat and kind of shook his head as he corrected himself, but I wouldn't have noticed myself if I hadn't been looking at him at that exact moment. Not to sound like I am bashing, but it kind of showed that the band had not had much (if any) time to rehearse for the show (other than the show the night before, as Sammy noted during sound check). The guys were each individually on fire, especially Joe, but as a band I could tell that they have all been very busy outside of Chickenfoot.
The fact that these 4 guys can come together, out of the blue, and play kick-ass music without having hardly any time to rehearse it is a testament to how well these guys work together. Chickenfoot is Chickenfoot, and I was thrilled to hear Sammy say that they are going to work around Chad's schedule and wait until January to go into the studio.
Another thing that stood out to me was that Joe didn't seem to use his effects as much as he has in the past. Not that it's bad at all, just something that I noticed. I was hoping he would do the intro to 'Get It Up' in the style of the DVD, but he did a very exotic 'middle eastern' intro instead, which was super awesome! He also did an extended solo on BBTW, which was a 10 out of 10, and had the most incredible tone I think I've ever heard! Maybe a song or two from Tahoe will show up on a future DVD. It seemed to me like his tone was a bit different compared to Tahoe last year. I assume he was using a proto of the Ice 9 last year and maybe the final product this year, but I really didn't care as much for his sound this year. I know Joe is always tweaking, so who knows what it is. I'm no good at describing sounds, but it had a little too much of something and not enough of another (for my taste).
The crowd was at least 10x better this year , but still had room to improve. That's just Tahoe for ya! I was literally sick to my stomach from all the pot smoke around us by the time the show was over. Ugh! Too bad the security folks can't do anything more than stand there and laugh.

My apologies for the huge post. I actually used up all 4,000 characters...
One thing I left out that I posted a couple days ago about the show was that Joe's performance of the Star Spangled Banner at the end of the show is without a doubt the single most memorable moment from any concert I have ever attended. It wasn't too fast, wasn't too slow. He didn't add any flair to it; just the Star Spangled Banner, plain and simple, from the heart, full of emotion- perfect!
Tracie-Sorry to hear Chris is having problems with his amp again. That JSX has really been giving him a fit. Maybe Joe was having a lot of the same problems with his- thus our explanation for the switch to Marshall?? I picked up an OLD 30 watt solid state Traynor amp on craigslist and a Digitech RP70 a while back; $60 for the pair. I ended up having to replace the speaker in the amp, but it works incredibly well. I absolutely hate the way it sounds, but for no better than I can play, I don't need anything fancy. I also have a 15W Fender bullet reverb that sounds heavenly, it just isn't loud enough! Hope he can get it fixed up.
Is is still under warranty?

This time potatoe,s right man Foodlans in their flyer has 20 pound,s of paoatoe,s on sale for 2.49 so i had to ride my bike in for milk and newspaper this is a 3 day sale are store use to be an iga ,man they towed the line with the sale item,s for about the first 4 week,s they were foodland.Now my mom never ever gives erich any of the poatoe,s i buy she always goe,sto the foodbank and get,s some for him. So today I needed the poatoe,s they didnt have em 10 pound bag old dirty almost arotten was 5 bucks so I gangstered a 20 bak of these real exspensive nice and white clean and shinny poatoes for the sale price of 2.49 hey man I went for the flyer item you know it,snot my fault they cant tow the line so i bring these poatatoes home to my mom she sais you know wolfie these are very exspensive looking poatatoes for 2.49 i said yep thats all they were 2.49 shes sais holy fouck i bet this bag of poatatoe,s is worth 25 or 30 dollars.She said Fouck Frankie you just brought me gangster poatatoe,s! didnt you? Hi Everyone,
Busy with the usual running. My next run will be next weekend on the 25th and it's the Fort-4-Fitness Run. I'll be running the half-marathon. As for work, well, its keeping me busy. I've been doing this serving for five years, but I think I might be looking for a new job/career soon. I have put out a few job apps (including online apps) at some places already, including Sweetwater Sound. Let's see how it goes.

Can't wait for the new disc "Light Years Away" is sweeeeeet! I love your tone, it's always so thick and dirty, then you get jazzy... so awesome. Such an elating listen everytime. You say when you play "Flying in a Blue Dream" you feel like your flying and it takes you awhile to come back down (I just Wanna Rock live in Paris) now can u imagine how your playing makes US your FANS feel everytime we hear your music :) Hypnotic!!!! ..Check this out ,after the potatoe thing later my Mom tell,s me she broke the poaqtoe masher yesterday when she was mashing.,and it,s steel was rather.Anyways so I went with her to buy a new poataoe mashe at the ACE HARWARE MAN we bought a heat resistant nylon one plastic same shit but not realy looks like it it was 2.48 caetns plus tax now I dont know if you know anything about poatatoe mashers ,but! you realy need to be carefull they do things,.Are last one we were using for about 30 years it was from my step dad who retired from running the toronto firedepartment from city hall in t.o it was a scottish puller! it was called today im were buying this the lady sais when you use it theirs alot of external noises like after you eat the potatoe,s turns out this thing is AUSTRIAN she said it will make you soldi and delievrs more potency to the muscles! i like ace hardware I trust em so their you go used it tonight my second roast beef supper hey! now we have the rotax austria postatoe masher or is it the SWARNEGGER! arnie model hey will see i think i feel better though compared to the old one! later wolf2.
