Peace- I'm right there with ya.. My CD is also in Hodgkins, IL; probably sitting right next to yours and Tracie's. It is very hard to see everyone talk about how awesome every track is when my CD is 2,000 miles away!!! UGH. I suppose I will risk my computer crashing and surf youtube to see if any parts of the album have been uploaded.

Mahavishnu- Glad to hear you're sitting in row 3 with us. As Austin said earlier, he and Tracie have seats 1-7, and I have 8 and 9. I'll get to see ya a good bit in January!

scubadaz- Not sure what Tracie passed along to you on twitter, but my experience with UPS mail innovations is that the package enters the UPS system from the shipping person, then UPS takes it to a distribution center where it is basically handed over to the postal system and goes to the recipient that way instead of arriving by UPS. Basically, UPS has nothing to do with delivering the package to you; it comes with your regular postal service instead. Probably works the same way on your side of the pond.

Having a first listen to the new album. I'm not disappointed, it is different. New guitar sounds, and produced with some space in the mix. Will repeat till dawn :-)

I got the album today so freaking awesome. OH MY GOD I LOVE IT!!! The only things is that Solitude is just way to short, but still the whole album is amazing and another album masterpiece that's beautifully done, and I really like Littleworth Lane it's a totally different style that Joe does, but it's a beautifully song. Can't wait to hear them live. Joe I'll be seeing you Dec. 10, and I can't wait.

A few people have asked about the bonus tracks...

The satriani.com preorder was for the standard (11-track) version of BSAWW, and it included an autographed booklet and a ticket preorder password.

The 13-track version of the album is available only at Best Buy. The two songs not on the standard version of the album will be available for individual purchase through Napster (they have a deal with Best Buy).

And since everyone else is doing it, my CD is apparently still in Nashville...the expected delivery date is 10/5. My first listen will most likely be of the Best Buy version.

Listening to: Joe Satriani - Ride

michelle - Haha...maybe, but only if Allen has his own little dance that he does on stage! Something like Stu in Ceremony (at 3:35 or 4:19), Summer Song (at 4:42), or One Big Rush (at 0:24) on LISF.

:-)

Do The Allen... just doesn't have the appeal that 'Stu' does.

I called the Best Buy here in town; hoping to get someone totally clueless on the phone and pull one over on them, I asked them if they had BSAWW in stock. The man answered "yep, looks like we've got it". So I proceed to the next phase of my plan... Then, right as I was about to ask him to set a copy aside, the dreaded words "oh, it looks like he's not putting this out until Tuesday, so you'll have to wait a couple days".
Clinging to one last shred of hope, I asked "are you sure it's not the 1st, because that's the date that's been advertised as the release date?" Haha!

Needless to say, I am still without the new album. I don't know what's worse; knowing that several of you guys are already enjoying the new tunes or knowing that the Deluxe Edition is sitting right down the road in the back room at Best Buy and I can't get my hands on it until Tuesday!
The little light bulb above my head just lit up. If I were an employee at Best Buy, I'll bet I could manage to buy the album a few days early, or at least listen to the "display model" while I was working.... Hmmm.

It's a tie right now between 'Wind' and 'Golden Room'. They are both out of this world! I think 'Wind in the Trees' is Joe's version of a vocal tune; he's really got that guitar singin! I keep feeling like I've not listened closely enough and missed the lyrics to the song, and realize there are none. I haven't finished the album yet, so I can't pick a favorite...

This album has definitely exceeded the high expectations that I had for it. I especially like that Joe is really into the effects throughout most of the album, I think that's why I like Golden Room so much. I bet Joe has got some nice pedal dances ready for the tour!

Skippy, I'm with you; generous peeps rock!!

One great thing you can always count on is Joe's guitar tone developing in different directions. The good listener can hear lots of detailed changes and it's very rich, full and round (but subtle) these days. A high gain Marshall sound without getting muddy or fuzzy is an excellent accomplishment. All those who thought they had Joe's tone down, with Satchurator, JSX and/or JS guitars can start all over ;-))
BS&WW still on heavy rotation [24/7], with increasing volume.
update: Gramp it reminds me of StrBeauMusic. Maybe there's a tune with similar scale and tempo on that album? Someone will probably have the patience to check it one of these days.

I'm floored by this album. Might just be one of Joe's finest (& that in itself is quite a statement!). I've vowed to make sure to see the show, even if I can't afford it... I MUST make it happen. After hearing Joe say he plans on doing a lot of the new album plus a few rare ones and stuff that he's never played live before.. I know I'll just murder myself if I don't get to see this show.

Early favorite is definitely Wormhole Wizards (that podcast is the best yet too! "Imagine all the lawyers!" LOL!) I just love the groove on that one. Wind In The Trees stands out as exceptional as well. So far I haven't found one "weak link" on this album at all. Mike's keys really add a refreshing new dimension to Joe's music, that guy is seriously one helluva fine musician.

Thanks to Jon for all the hard work that went into the podcasts... WW is for sure my favorite, I'll have to agree with Joe: "even if it meant the end of the universe, it would still be one helluva show!" Classic.

smooches,
» Phy³
