scubadaz - So you're a Driving At Night kinda guy too, huh? Do you do long haul or just short trip/day driving? I drive a city bus on the "vampire shift" (by choice, actually) so I'm out at 8:00-ish pm until 4:30 in the morning... JUST the way I like it! After midnight there's almost no people.. no traffic... I'm the king of the road! LOL! Plus, I get to sleep all day in a nice quiet house, no Wife & kids.. AND I get to watch the sun come up almost every day, no chemicals required! ;0)

Here's a pic of me on the job.
(On Halloween, of course!)

Damn! I just realized that I forgot to add my name to the "attending" list for Montréal... my head would surely explode if I won the meet'n'greet thing.. that would be a dream come true. I can hope...

Show of hands! How many other T2J'ers attending Montréal?

I know that this is an unusual post. I know of no other way of asking you this question. I am a baptist preacher and I am also a long time musician. And last night I was thinking of all the people that I've listened to through the years. And I wander how many people have ever enquired as to where you will spend eternity. Odd I know. But a very serious question indeed. I am not trying to be weird by no means. But I wonder how many of the bigger than life musicians know that that is the most important decision they will ever make. If possible I would love to chat with you about this. If not I will gracefully bow out of this forum.

Sincerely Bro Blue

Joe!

That better be heavy sarcasm on Twitter about them rip-off rappers! :p

Unless of course you permitted them to do this.

I am a master in law and if they didn't have permission for this, i tell you, you have a case here.

Gr!

D777

PS I totally don't think they are 'kind of cool' either way :p

takis - holy crap! That shiite is NASTY! I hate hearing Joe's music being used like that. Funny that Coldplay get reamed out for plagiarism but no-talent rap hackers can just up and steal whatever they want? Blech! Joe himself (WTF?!) put another horrible one up on Failbook this morning, thought I was gonna puke. I think that PRIMUS said it best in Year Of The Parrot: "Take a Zeppelin riff... and you alter it a bit... make lots of money.. it's called plagiarism...."

I didn't like either of those rip-off songs...I hope they did get permission from Joe to use them at least but if not...GET 'EM JOE!!

Skippy, it's not just a hint, I'd truly love to travel to Oz to see Joe AND the countryside there....I need to take Chris to show him part of his heritage, he's a quarter Aussie after all :) My mum took me there when I was 14 to meet my Aussie relatives. Not many of them left now however, but I'd love to show him part of where he came from :) And coordinating it with a Joe-tour is the icing on the cake!

Aww Peace, so sorry to hear that about your dad. Wish there was something they could do for him to cure it. Hugs honey. Please keep us posted...yer in my prayers.

Chadlers, the only thing I can see on it is it's called a Flip video Ultra. It's white and silver. Does that help? I had to get up off my butt and go get it to tell you that, u'd better appreciate it cuz only fer u.....lol! They are the neatest and handiest lil buggers I ever saw!! I think they run about $150 retail...I happened to get mine fer free cuz we stayed 4 nights in a hotel this summer, and as part of hotels.com summer promotion, u got a free Flip fer booking that many in a row. I didn't even realize it until after I booked, and then figgered I'd never see it...but lo and behold it arrived in the mail. I love it!

Happy Wednesday peoples...I hope to get lots of time to catch up at my desk today, complete with headphones on playing Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards!

Travel safe to Dublin, Joe, and all over Europe. Yer gonna blow their socks off with this show!

Those rappers killed the song, it would have been alright apart from the dude pretending to play guitar, I mean, c'mon an Epiphone instead of a JS1000 or 1200 and he doesn't even pretend to play the tune right. Other than that, they should have had the full guitar solo instead of just a bit, but.......

I like the message that the song is trying to give. It's a "Brand New Day"

Hmmm.....could have appreciated "Brand New Day" had they at least given credit where credit is due. Not my kind of music but the message was pretty good. (no likey rap)

The other song ( Right Thru Me)

totally sucked ...completely..great dishonor to a most beautiful love song

This song popped into my head right after hearing them both

Look What They've Done To My Song :-/

Cheese- Thanx for kind words. :-)

Another disappointed customer of the new album! Pre-ordered, to make sure I had in time before the Dublin concert Sat Oct 16th, well, NOOO. Still no sign of it, neither have I received a shipping date. Lessons learned, wait for Amazon.com or someone else, but not via Sony music. I'm sure Joe has nothing to do with this, but it won't hurt to be aware of this poor service.. However, still looking forward to the Dublin gig this Saturday, hope it's going to be great!!

Just bought 2 tickets to the show on December 4th in Clearwater, FL. My 12yr old son can't wait to go! My son has been playing guitar for less than a year and I may be biased but I think he is doing great. His favorite guitar players are Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eddie VanHalen, Jimi Hendrix, Randy Rhodes and Dimebag Darrell. This will be his first concert EVER and who better than Joe Satriani? We are hoping that there will be Meet & Greet packages available for this show. Anyway, the site is great and we love the music. Thanks for having this available to the fans!

Hi Everyone and Happy "Rock-tober".

Happy Birthday Sammy Hagar!

Axeshredderjc, Distorted Soul, Skippygirl, Peace Lily, Burly, Cheese101, Michelle, Do The Stu, js1200js1000, Cosmic Ape, Fatape, Blue_Moon, Dream3, Roo, GoldenGirl2, and EVERYONE:

Hope everyone is well. I received both my BSAWW CDs (the original and the one with the two bonus songs) about a week ago. Haven't had a chance to give it a listen, but I will eventually.

Work is coming along well. I have today off so therefore I can get caught up with a number of things, including writing to you all. Earlier today, I had a phone interview with a business/radio station. It went alright and I'll find out next week about the position. As of right now, I'll have to stick with what I have.

Running is coming along well. I have two races coming up this month. First one is this Sunday (a 5-Miler). This is probably one of my favorite runs because all the money/proceeds go to Riley Children's Hosptial. Next Sunday is a 10K and it's a popular downtown race. Over 800 participated last year and I wonder how many they'll be this year. Veteran's Day weekend (in November), I'll be running the Veterans Marathon again and hoping to qualify for Boston.

I'm also looking forward to the Huff 50K in December. Unfortunately, from what I have heard, this is the last year they might be doing this, which disappoints me. It's on December 18th in Huntington at the J. Edward Roush Lake, Kil-So-Quah Campgrounds in Huntington, Indiana, starting at 8:00 A.M.

Joe, you're in Cleveland on the 17th and going to Chicago on the 19th. Think you could stop by here in Indiana on the 18th, and give a shout out or a good luck for this ultra-marathon that I'm doing? All the best to you and your crew on all the gigs and tour stops.

Hope everyone here is doing well. Keep in touch via Facebook, e-mail, text, or whatever if you want to reach me. Chat with you peeps later, I got some running to put in a little later. \m/

Grant

Seeing that JOE himself posted a link of this rap song on his FB account, it is pretty clear that he is o.k. with it. Maybe he was contacted prior the making of the song? Maybe the artist (and I use this term loosely) purchased the license for it??? Who knows! I'm not familiar with the legal frames regarding sampling.

I look at sampling the same way I look at "Guitar Hero". I personally don't care for them but:

1. I expect the artists to be compensated for their work being used.
2. If people find new music and hear about artists they would not have otherwise through the interaction with these devices, then I think in the end it is worth it.

On the other hand, there is nothing more annoying that some prick thinking he can now play guitar because he is awesome at "Guitar Hero". Five buttons/6 strings and 21-24 frets, yeah that's the same!!!

For those who do pick up an instrument after playing the game, though, I salute you! Rant over...

Joe, I was just wondering...what makes you decide that a song doesn't quite "make the cut" to be on an album....I've been listening to the entire 13 tracks of Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards and....welllll, I can't see why Heartbeats and Longing DON'T fit in....they go nicely with the rest of the album, in my opinion of course. Was just wondering, from a professional point of view, what's the differences in these 2 songs/reasoning behind you feeling as though they don't fit?

I'm totally thrilled you went ahead and put them out there, just like with Ghosts :) I say the more Joe, the better!

Rhythmsteady - No prob. The hardest thing is just making time. Also, don't forget the advantages to practicing without an amp. While it won't help you with muting (something I still struggle with) it does help you to clean up your timing.

Peace Lily - See you at the Portland show.

EDIT: Also if anyone is/knows a drummer in the Portland, OR area send them my way. I'll also be looking for a partner in shred to round out the band. samples HERE
