Joe - Absolutely LOVE the new album!! We (wife, 2 boys, & I) play it constantly here. Can't wait to see you in January. Had tickets for the Napa gig, but had to give them to some friends as our son's baseball team advanced in the playoff's and we were traveling then. Did catch Rush (of course! - haven't missed a tour since "Permanent Waves") & Iron Maiden this summer.

Unrelated, but your friend Neal Schon's song "Don't Stop Believing" has been used in a cool way for the Giants playoff run here. I'm actually an A's fan, but the Giants have been fun to watch (although I'm hoping for the Ranger's to win it all). Sorry, not sure how to make it clickable; http://www.baycitizen.org/blogs/sports-riff/new-giants-anthem-making-splash/

Does anyone know how I can buy 2 Meet & Greet packages? I bought just the tickets because when I clicked the club package just the regular tickets came up. I really want my son's first concert to be one he will never forget. The plan is to not tell him about the Meet & Greet if I am able to work it out and just show up as a surprise. If anyone could tell me about getting these I would appreciate it very much!

Just bought the bonus tracks off Napster. At first I was scared to death because it said I had to pay a monthly $5 fee. but I only wanted 2 songs, but I bought them individually with no monthly cost...hopefully...

Lovin both the tracks. can't see why Joe left them out. They're great!

mammena, I'm sorry to say it looks as though that particular show isn't doing any meet and greet packages. No one seems to know why, but folks are disappointed. Sorry :( At this point, you can try a coupla things...make sure you register yourself as attending your particular show on the road page: click on the link that says "edit show attendance here" (it's at the bottom of the road page I think). You could also have your son register a nickname here on satriani.com and then he can also register as attending to give you two chances to win. About 3-4 days before your show happens, they randomly draw one name to win two aftershow passes to meet Joe. The passes are free, Joe's just got it like that, lol!

Also, you can try waiting outside by the tour bus after the show to see if you can catch Joe. Usually, unless they're in a screaming hurry to get to the next venue, Joe always takes time to meet the fans there. But you need to be prepared to wait up to a coupla hours out there, hopefully less but bundle up. And that's assuming the tour bus isn't parked behind a locked gate...

We've run into Joe a few times before the show just hanging outside the venue several hours before doors open. And often the other guys in the band wander in and out of the venue after sound check is over, in search of coffee, personal phone time, etc :)

I don't know if Joe has any in-store signings he's thinking about scheduling on the tour, sometimes he does that but not at all tour stops...but keep your eyes peeled here for any possible info.

Good luck, no matter what, you and your son are going to see a FANTASTIC show!! Neither of you will ever forget it. My son and I go to as many shows as we can, and always, ALWAYS love them! There's nothing better in life than to spend an evening with Joe :)

Hello all Satch fans!!!!

@flash moron-I saw that video. RayWilliamJohnson covered it the other day. RayWilliamJohnson's Dikshit vid You have to fast forward to a minute into the vid.

@scubadaz- That video where Joe mimics the fire alarm is hilarious. I watched it twice. lol

@axeshredder- that sound you are hear in "Wind In The Trees" is autotune. I read in an interview before the album came out that Joe was auto-tuning the guitar. But when I actually heard it, shivers ran down my spine and a smile came to my face as I thought, "only Joe".

Now I'm hearing around that a lot of people aren't very fond on "Wind In The Trees" and others just absolutely love the song. Why do such mixed emotions envelop this song???

@fatape-It's weird how they put lyrics to "A Cool New Way". But it's stupid how they rhyme day with "citay"???? And the rapping just ruins it. It's like dumping a garbage can on top of a perfectly good ice cream cone.

@cosmic ape-Guitar Hero didn't inspire to pick up guitar. Joe did, after I heard about him on GH. I think I'm pretty good at GH, but I don't think that means I can just pick up a guitar and play it. But I certainly get what your saying. You're talking about little kids who think they're awesome because they can play GH. Trust me, I know. I play Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox Live and you get all these little kids saying that they're "beast" at the game when they really suck. If you were to give them an M16 and put them in the front lines in real life, they wouldn't last. I completely recognize the difference between a video game and real life. And all those times kids hear a song on GH and think they're a fan after hearing that one song and don't even bother to listen to another song. That annoys the crap out of me.

I do like the set list that Joe is going with. And the reason I'm acknowledging the set list is the possible chance that I might be going to a concert after all. YAY!!!!! The tickets I might be getting better come with free binoculars. lol

Anyway, I would very much like hearing Why, Crystal Planet, and Big Bad Moon live. And the fact that he is possibly opening with Hordes Of Locusts just blows my mind. Talk about a blast from the past. A couple of months ago I bought Dreaming #11 because that was the only possible way to hear HOL live. I thought that song would just fade away. Now he's freakin' opening with it. WOW!!!

Another long post, I know. But I haven't posted in over a week so it makes sense. Until then, Satchoholics, rock on. :)

Cheese101- Thanks for the info. With my son being 12, we probably will not be able to wait after the show for too long. He has mild autism and the loud noise of the concert will most likely wear him out. This might sound bad but he will be wearing earplugs to help with the noise level so he can enjoy the concert. I will have him sign up so we have 2 chances to win.

Again thanks for the info!

MegaBoyd - Thanks for the hello! Back at you! Hope you are well. The recent Rush tour was indeed a great one. It was our youngest son's 3rd show ever (2 Rush tours & 1 Joe show). January's Joe gig will be his next one (both my boys couldn't have made the Napa gig as it was 21+ & I even called the theater manager to beg, but it was a no-go so worked out alright that Little League beat it out anyway). A recent Joe moment - I rode in Levi Leipheimer's "Gran Fondo" ride (I did the 65-mile leg) here last Saturday and as the other 6,000 riders & I were waiting for the start gun they played "Crowd Chant(/Party On The Enterprise)" and after a few tries the crowd actually got into it! Very cool!

Oxley- Wind in the Trees is one of my favorite songs on the album.. I don't know if any other guitarist has ever played through auto-tune, (I'm guessing not since nobody can quite nail down the effect he's using), but it seems quite groundbreaking to me. I can't recall any significant milestones using the guitar in recent years, but this is definitely one. Nobody can accuse Joe of not being a pioneer in his field. I see grammy nominations written all over this album, and this song as well.

Anyway, if you read some of the comments on the 'Cool New Way' rap video, one of the people that uploaded the video said that nobody had any idea that the producer used samples of music from Joe until people started bringing it up there. He makes a point to show that Joe has been credited in the words below the video, and went on to say he hopes that Joe will enjoy what they have done with his music as much as they have, or something to that effect.

So, it's probably a safe bet that Joe had no idea what was going on until someone showed the video to him. Same goes for the "Right Through Me"/AWMAWY rip off. Hopefully Joe doesn't let them just get away with doing these things, otherwise these people will just keep "riffing" off everyone else.

Ugh. Driving back to Oregon tomorrow for a funeral on Friday.. Gotta burn a CD tonight before bed. BSAWW, LIP, and CF; GYBO Live, plus about 12GB of assorted Joe and others should get me through the trip. In other news my tickets for Reno came in the mail earlier this week; now just need to reserve the hotel. Anybody got that far in planning yet?

Ian

Little Kids Rock is auctioning off some guitars as a means of raising some money. In case you didn't see it already, Joe decorated a Strat with his famous artwork.

I was enjoying the doodles so much that I didn't even realize it wasn't a JS guitar until I read the description. Minimum bid= US$1,000...

Allison, I hear ya. My son also has a form of autism, Asperger's Autism. Joe has been wonderously kind to Chris, always. And he has inspired him as no other. If your son looks up to Joe, you could have no better role model in the world for him :) Earplugs are really a must for any concert these days, no matter who it is. Good luck on the aftershow drawing, I'll cross my fingers for you both! Please tell your son for me I think he has excellent taste in music.

Chad, only fer u mah lil Canadian honeybunch, LOL!! Don't ferget I still own a ladder and can climb up it to kick yer butt when needed!

Oxley and turbo-Ian, I love Wind In The Trees, it's magical to me. I have no idea about auto-tune, but now that Joe has put it in a song I'm sure I'm gonna hear allllllllll about it soon, lol!! And Ian, I agree on the Grammy....I started feeling that very strongly after hearing the first two songs before the album came out. This album takes you on quite a ride of emotions and feelings...if the voters who decide who wins have ANY sense at all, it's Joe's turn!

David Stice, welcome to the board :) Stick around and enjoy all the good Joe-vibes :)

Love the Little Kids Rock guitar Joe but I just gotta ask....do you have bad dreams at night??? LOL!!! Yer such a happy person in real life and these drawings all look a titch....grumpy and sleep deprived...mebbe it's the red eyes, lol! :D It's great you took the time to do this, hope your offering goes for a mint!! I'd love to own it.

And now, for a wolfie moment.....time for more coffee and to hit my atk to go to work needs gas cheese101 OUT.
