Glad you are checking out Buckethead too! I have been listening to a lot of his music lately, and surely have tried not to beat BSAWW into the ground the last couple of weeks. I too have intentionally tried not to watch all the videos from the tour thus far, so as to not spoil the concert experience in December. Might be flawed logic, but oh well.... :)

Joe, great to see some blue!

Twelve pages ago, Thanks to Tracie........Tracie, Thank you for showing us Tips on playing Golden Room by Joe in his echoey room. I could listen to him teaching about A Major and myolydian and all that other technical musician shop talk for hours..........Ahhhh. It takes me to a good place and turns off the trash and noise going on in my cloudy/sad conciousness.

Joe has that upturned face and attitude to shut down dismal/tired/sad status AND he takes us all to that place where life is good as it should be.

I want to shake off this shit.......Show up with a smile that melts depression into nothing. With friends all greatness is possible.

it is really weird to hear Joe's song mixed with rap honestly.. but I guess it is another way to get the music out there. AS LONG AS HE GETS RECOGNITION.

JOE- LOVIN the live stuff im finding on youtube for this tour!

Dunno much about this band, but with Portnoy behind the drums now, they're worth a listen. They even have some widdly-widdly-woo woo stuff going on there! Dunno why I didn't give this band a chance before. Guess I thought it was one of my daughters whiny boy bands by their "rocker" look. lol! I kinda like it! lol! The Rev was a damn good drummer! Basspedals - I can't recommend Captain Eo's Voyage highly enough. I did a post a few pages ago with a bunch of links to some of my favorite stuff. I'll re-post it here for you.

Here then are a few of my favorites:
Monsters And Robots - first album I picked up, still holds a special place in my heart.
The Dragons Of Eden - beautiful and amazing album.
Albino Slug - is another fast favorite of mine.
Pepper's Ghost - one of my absolute favorites, some say his best work.
Crime Slunk Scene - A truly great piece of work.
Decoding The Tomb Of Bansheebot - Another favorite, also a great place to start.
The Elephant Man's Alarm Clock - very heavy, very well done.
Electric Tears - very mellow, very beautiful.
Enter The Chicken - for a nice blend of heavy and mellow and everything in between. Titled as "Buckethead & Friends" because of a lot of guest artists.
Inbred Mountain - Very unusual and heavy.
Population Override - is another unique one, a little bit funky and a little bit bluesy.
Last, but certainly not least, is my new favorite Captain Eo's Voyage - a truly beautiful work of art. Most of us "bots" (Buckethead fans) are speculating that The Homing Beacon (A Tribute To Michael Jackson) will be added as the (magical) 13th track on the CD.

WARNING: Epic Idea Below!

As I was browsing Youtube for new live BSAWW vids, I realized that some of them were uploaded by different people from different angles during the same song on the same night! And then this idea popped into my head:

Pick a show you want to film for a DVD recording. However, rather than have professional coverage, encourage all attendees to bring their pocket cameras, iphones, or whatever non-professional equipment they own, and tell them to film the concert themselves and send you all the footage! Cut the footage so it makes a full concert DVD, and voila... you have a masterpiece!!

Note: obviously, record the sound as you would otherwise, and sync it up in post-processing. I think this would be a really, really cool project!

:D

Congratulations to the Conservative movement in yesterday's elections.

Some of the trash has been taken out of Congress.

Now it is time to remove the Marxist garbage from the White House.

scuba - glad you liked 'em! I'm always trying to raise awareness about Big B. I'm always stunned when people say things like "he looks like a freak" and "what's up with that mask?" etc. I always wonder why they let their eyes influence what their ears like? I always say to them: "Close your eyes and open your ears, isn't that what music is supposed to be about?" Reminds me of a good friend of mine who once said he didn't like Queen's music because they were "too gay". Srsly.. WTF?! Why does that have anything to do with anything?

The best (read: worst?) one I heard was over at the Les Paul forums, there were a bunch of people (supposedly musically knowledgeable) who said they just couldn't get past the mask & bucket, no matter how well he played. WTF is up with THAT?! To my mind that's akin to saying: "I can't get into Hendrix's guitar playing because he's black." So completely ridiculous.

Then it hits me; if they want to exclude epic musicians based upon stupid criteria, let them! Completely their loss. I'm just SO glad I have an open mind and I'm not hung up. I'll let my ears decide what music I do (or don't) like. I am just plain dumbfounded that anyone could write off Buckethead's playing for ANY reason. In my mind there's just no denying that he's one of the most talented guitar players in the history of the planet.

I tend to shy away from titles like "best" and "better than" and that sort of thing, all I can really say definitively is what are MY favorites, it's completely subjective of course. Being that I've loved the "shredders" for over 2 decades now AND that I spent almost 10 years straight listening to NOTHING but Frank Zappa, I think I have a pretty well rounded and balanced viewpoint.

Here then are my top 3:
Buckethead
Ler LaLonde
Frank Zappa

Of course Joe is way up there too AND Steve Vai AND Paul Gilbert AND Mike Keneally.. the list goes on and on really, Tony Macalpine, Vinnie Moore, Marc Haggard (Mirv) (totally underrated, previously with M.I.R.V. now with Madame Blavatsky Overdrive - do yourself a HUGE favor and check them out ! Their music is all free for download!) Bryan Kehoe (also previously of M.I.R.V. now heads up the Kehoe Nation), etc. etc.

smooches,

Yep...glad to see the trash go out too. Keep in mind though...congress and the administration is not Going to save America. There is a lot of people in need of Christ. Speaking of that...I would like to invite any and all of you musicians... Including Satch to talk with me off forum concerning their eternal destination. Man up guys. There'll be no guitar playing in hell. Lotta yelling and screaming. Which is not a whole lot Different than what a lot of people are doing in their music anyway. Just a thought. I'm sure most of you guys are Extremely talented. Sure would love to see it used for God.

madness, what a great show yesterday for the E-Werk in Cologne. It was an ingenious blend of "old" songs and the new album, coupled with a super nice unobtrusive underlining light show

was a great experience!

thamks for the links, I'm really liking what I've heard so far from Captain Eo, and Electric Tears has a lot of really cool tracks. Another one I explored a little was Colma, I can't get whitewhash out of my head.

Cheers !l
