ICEMAN II - I first saw Journey in the summer of '80. For many years we were lucky enough to have shows at the Oakland Coliseum called "Day On The Green". I went to many, many of those gigs and saw Triumph, UFO, Gamma, Ted Nugent, Foghat, Aerosmith, The Who, Rising Force, The Rolling Stones, Nazareth, etc...
At that first Journey gig it also featured Cheap Trick, Black Sabbath, & Molly Hatchet.
In May of '89 I saw a certain guy named Joe Satriani (my 2nd. Joe gig) along with The Grateful Dead, Tracy Chapman, John Fogerty, Los Lobos, & Tower Of Power.
Aaahhhh, those were the days.
Anyway, Journey was very good and Neal Schon in particular was fantastic!
Speaking of Journey, Steve Perry is a huge Giants fan and was part of their World Series parade a few weeks ago.
A very good Giants song was done by a fan to "Don't Stop Believing". Sorry, I don't know how to post a link. Do a youtube search of "Ashkon Don't Stop Believing". Even has vintage concert footage of the band.
The best Journey moment that I know of though is when Rodney Dangerfield cranks up "Any Way You Want It" in Caddyshack, haha. "That man's a menace!".

I wonder what gear you used with the 1987 album "surfing with the alien"? If you used tube amps and what kind of distortion you used? Myself i use Boss GT-10 and Digitech RP350 and different compact pedals and transistor amp Line 6 spider 4 and Marshall Micro amp MS-2.

Donkey Hotay! - Wow! I saw Frank here in Ottawa something like 20 years ago, great show! Got a ticket from a best buddy for my Birthday, he said: "you can't be a guitar fan and not check out Frank Marino!" & he was right. He also gave me the Double Live album. Good times and good friends (and good music!)

Jesse Kennemer, just a shout out to you and your band. My son Chris went to see your band play last night in Grants Pass (I think that's where you played) with his boss Chuck, got a chance to meet you all and listen to a full set and part of the next before they had to leave. He was impressed with the whole band and thought your playing was really good. He said he could hear Joe's influence in your playing, and then noticed you had a Satchurator pedal :) So he figured you were a fan of Joes like he is.
As he was telling me about all this, I asked him if he could remember the band's name or any of the players names...he said the guitar player was Jesse something...was trying to remember the last name so I piped up and said "Jesse Kennemer?" He was like..."THAT'S IT, how did YOU know that mom"!! I told him cuz I was magic, LOL! But then confessed I'd seen you post on here before and had checked out your band page and music and knew you lived in the same town as him. Two points fer the old mother, LOL!!
So yeah, congrats on your band and hope you keep going forward with it!!

Joe are you still teaching? I just wanted to inquire I knew you did in the past not sure if life has slowed down enough for you to get back to it.
I use to love your section in the now gone Guitar Player Magazine.
