burly's friend from there in Arkansas on tour in Paul Gilbert's band
That should work a little mo betta for you there burly!
Is it rhythm guitar he's playing?

Al - I'm completely jealous! I have yet to see Paul Gilbert live... maybe someday.

jsjs - I'm near Ottawa, Stittsville to be exact, just the other side of Kanata. I drive for OC Transpo. Do you come to Ottawa much?

I have the Eventide Pitchfactor. Some useful things on it, but don't use it much... the odd song here and there (e.g., Alien Blues). Was going to buy the Modfactor, but don't use much chorus, flange, etc. as it is, so never bothered spending another $500. I'm not a super fan of multi-effects units, but some of the tones I get from the Pod I'm happy with. And the unit doesn't control your sounds as it allows you to tweak to a very large extent multiple pedals, amps and speakers, etc., and that then can go into a tube amp. Even a tube amp on it's own can't do it all, which is why Joe and others still have a bunch of pedals at their feet.

the mod factor is worth the cash just for the vibrato and rotary effects.

Peace Lily--Wind In the Trees is beautiful. Mike Keneally and Joe play so well together. I'm pleasantly surprised by the special dimension of the keyboards on BSAWW album and tour.

Hello everyone. I am a relatively new fan of Joe's. However I have been admiring his stuff since he started in the 80's. When I first listened to Surfing With The Alien I ran out and bought the cassette. That was it until about about 1 year ago when I heard Professor..., I was amazed. I then purchased all his studio cd's. I recently purchased Black Swans And Wormhole Wizards... I was also amazed again. I am going to see Joe at his Massey Hall show in Toronto this year. I can't wait. Does anyone have any comment on how Joe is Live? I don't mean like on a DVD or utube. What does he actually sound like live? Better than on his cd's / DVD's or not quite as good.

Take Care

Peace Lily - isn't that tune just amazing live? I'm blown away by Keneally's energy and creativity, especially in the other stuff that he was never originally a part of, Memories springs to mind, I mean srsly... OMFG, right?

cheese - Thanks for the Allen link.. I've been really trying to get a handle on his playing on this tour, most "cameramen" get so focused on Joe that I don't often get to see very much Allen, not that I can blame them. ;o) What I've seen so far I like! He seems to be bringing a little bit of metal attitude to the set. Almost like what Pete Griffin brings to Dweezil's outfit, a little bit of headbanging energy - I LIKE THAT! One of the things I'm most looking forward to when I see the show live in Montréal, is seeing EVERYONE play. Especially Joe, of course, but when Keneally and Whitman are flanking him it's just win-win-win.

Just curious, I know that you've gotta sorta be an oversized player to work with this guitar very well, but has anyone played around with one of these yet? I'm hearing that the tone is off the hook, oversized chambered body and whatnot? I've been drooling over this marvelous piece of kit since it hit the streets. There's no money in my budget at all for such a toy, but IF I were looking to buy a new axe, it would be one of them, no contest. I wonder if Joe has noodled around with one at all?

smooches,

@phydeaux- Memories is one of my favorite live songs. (Montreux Jazz Festival 1988) And Keneally is a great addition to the group. I love the solo from Wormhole Wizards. I just absolutely love it. He combines the jazz along with the blues from the song and it turns out perfect.

I can't wait to hear it live.
