Hi Joe,

how are you ? i am a complete fan since 1989. I like many many of your songs. I like that you recorded flying in a blue dream in high dynamics to capture huge sound nuances.

I like your earlier stuff as much as the more recent. I got into playing guitar because of you. In 1989 i found the 'surfing with the alien' CD in a music store and bought it for no other reason that i liked the cool cartoon cover with the silver surfer. The funny thing is that the music matched what i had imagined with the cover and really was amazing and fun and i was hooked. Next i bought flying in a blue dream and it became a huge musical revelation for me.

I bought 'not of this earth' later. Your guitars are well documented after surfing with the alien but there is no information anywhere about what pickup and guitar and effect you used for 'not of this earth'. If you still remember these early days Joe can you tell us what guitar and what pickups you used for that album and sound line up ?

I am about to change the pickups in my 1990 R570 and would love to get that sound.

All best with you current music experimenting.

Eric

The first flakes of snow are starting to fall!! Really cold and cloudy now... also very windy!! Almost time to start thinking about putting up the Christmas tree!! This year has gone pretty fast!! On the bright side, my dog LOVES the snow!! She has been outside almost all day rolling around and digging in the snow... sooooo cute. But she dug too far and got into mud... So I Had to give her a bath. Cant wait for the 29th!! Joe on Jay Leno!! Really looking forward to that!! Hope Joe is enjoying his few days off before he goes back on tour.

-Great White

P.S- Joe good luck on the 29th & the second leg of your tour!! See you soon!! <3

I'm with js12... I hear a lot more Vai influence (& tone) in Chris' playing, I bought the rest of the album yesterday too, I'm loving it.. my Daughter Annie (7 yrs. old!) came into the kitchen while I was doing dishes and says: "Steve Vai?" I tell her no, this is a new guy, she says "I think I need this on my MP3 player." Wow! The apple didn't fall very far from the tree! ;0)

BigBunny & Al... YES! Cannot forget Paul Gilbert's Fuzz Universe, amazing album from a great player, I think it might be his best yet though I do like Get Out Of My Yard a lot too.

I don't know if I ever posted this here before or not, it's a Mother's Day gift for my Wife that I made, we watched it yesterday and as usual she cries like a baby through the whole thing. I must admit I get a little chokey too. I've made a bunch of these slideshows, they are priceless. This one just happens to have PERFECT music.

Here are two more that I made about my Daughter and Son being born.

Hey Michelle, thought I would post some cool cd's to own from 2010 and a couple that came out in 2009.

1. The Black Keys/Brothers...Blues rock at its near best. Not as guitar heavy as their early stuff, but the quality is definately there.

2. Them Crooked Vultures...Released in 2009, a super group featuring Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age, David Grohl of Foo Fighters, and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin. Alot of QOTSA sound present here, but you can hear a fair share of Zep influence as well. An amazing group.

3. The Dead Weather/Sea Of Cowards...Featuring Jack White of the White Stripes and Alison Mosshart of The Kills, this is a much more coherent sounding disc compared to their first cd.

4. Broken Bells...Features the singer from the Shins and Danger Mouse.

5. Arcade Fire/The Suburbs...Bought this on a whim, due to the favorable reviews it was recieving. This one is a grower.

6. Jimmy Eat World/Invented...More of a return to previous form for these guys who were a bit too poppy on their Chase This Light cd.

7. Chevelle/Sci Fi Crimes...The best effort from these guys since Wonder What's Next.

8. Drive By Truckers/The Big To Do...Southern rock group with great song writing and consistently great cds. This one is no different.

Joe when you play at Massey Hall, it will be the first time for me seeing your show. I can't wait! When I am taking the bus home from work. I listen to your music. It relaxes me and helps me forget about the days troubles. Thank you for all your hard work so that I can leave my work behind.

Safe travels to you and your crew.

Hey Joe, I've been very impressed by the two performances I'm lucky to have seen you in. The last time was at the Hogg on the UT campus. I gather that you like acoustically sound and beautiful venues. I would love for you to consider and make The Majestic Theater in San Antonio Tx a place I and my family can enjoy your music in. I lied the last time I saw you was with Chicken Foot in SA TX. Hope you cosider my suggestion and at least see the inside of that place. It's beautiful!! Sybalingus.

Premier Guitar's Pro Pedalboards Vol. 1

I've not made it all the way through, but Joe's Experience Hendrix setup is in there, along with a couple I wouldn't have expected. Couple more to go, though.

turbo236 - thanks for posting the pedalboard article! Was cool seeing the wide variety of setups - though I must be careful to not let my wife see the minimalist 3-4 pedal boards, lest I never be permitted to purchase another stompbox! haha

Hey Joe,

Probably old news to you, but there is a complete rip-off of AlwaysWMAWY melody from Nicki Minaj called Right Thru Me. If you haven't looked into it or authorized it, please do. My wife and I were introduced for the first time as man and wife to the intro of your song AWMAWY and it's inscribed on my wedding band. I'm a loyal fan and that song means a lot to me as does your music. Thanks.

Pip! - Mr. Big back for another attack! Nice!

Chromeboy2010 - Joe gave his permission, I don't think ANYONE around here is very happy about it. That blackpink barbie has about as much talent as a dead fish. *shudder*

Heads-up everyone! - I had a few bucks left over on my iTunes acct. after buying that Chris Bullen album (amazing btw!!) so I picked up Favored Nations' Christmas effort, Acoustic Christmas... the whole famn dambly is LOVING it! Check it out if you can. Now I have another Christmas album that doesn't suck to go along with both Merry Axemas CD's and Bootsy's Christmas Is 4 Ever (Baby!).

smooches,
