Hi there! New to this site and great to be here. A friend and I are head up to Edmonton on Jan. 4th to see the show. We are great fans of Joe and are pondering something. Would it be possible to get our guitars autographed by Joe after or before the show? These are personal guitars and would never be put up for sale on E-Bay or the like. Looking forward to your response. Thank you and a very Happy New Year!

Continued

Jan 1-Jan 8: If I Could Fly- I started listening to it after not hearing the ITLIS album for a while. It was hearing it every day.

Jan 8-Jan 15: Lights Of Heaven- Another song playing in my head.

Jan 15-Jan 22: Time Machine- I got the Time Machine album for Christmas and started listening to it in full a couple of weeks later. The epic drums and D power chord at the beginning had me mesmerized from the start.

Jan 22-Jan 29: A Cool New Way- Brought itself back to my attention when I was flipping through my iPod. I was like, "Hmmm, haven't played this one in a while".

Jan 29-Feb 5: I Just Wanna Rock- The week of the long awaited LIVE IN PARIS!!! It just fit.

Feb 5-Feb 12: Out Of The Sunrise- I was absolutely amazed by the live version that I had to put two PSATMOR songs in a row. And it sounds so much more mellow following I Just Wanna Rock compared to following Come On Baby.

Feb 12-Feb 19: Into The Light- I found this lonely masterpiece on my iPod after a while listening to it. I closed my eyes played it and really came in touch with it. It was surprising. How much emotion was in that 2 and a half minute song.

Feb 19-Feb 26: Seven String- I listened to it for the first time and was really diggin' this tune. It has that awesome authentic Satch groove but with some metal and that wah solo.

Feb 26-Mar 5: The Forgotten Pt. 2- Another first. Except this one was very special. I love the sad beginning and then it clicks right over to the much heavier distortion in the background. Oh man, that's so much fun to listen to.

Mar 5-Mar 12: Memories- This song has a very special place in my heart. This wasn't a first. And the reason this is one of my favorites is another story for another day.

Mar 12-Mar 19: Secret Prayer- This was in fact close to one of my first listens to it. The very first time I heard it, I was blown away. The chorus riff is my favorite thing then an awesome solo. WOW This song really deserved the spot.

Mar 19-Mar 26: Mountain Song- I was starting to listen to Strange Beautiful Music which I still don't own at this point and I was really humbled by this song. It felt like the pure power of a mountain rising up from the ground.

Mar 26-Apr 2: Crystal Planet- This was the week I went to see Joe in NYC. I listened to this right before I left and it was stuck in my head all day.

Apr 2-Apr 9: Hill Of The Skull- Appropriate for Good Friday.

Apr 9-Apr 16: The Meaning Of Love- Found it's way to my attention after a long time. The solo on this one really captivates me. I don't know why, but it just does. I also love how this song is both simple yet complex at the same time. It's a message.

Apr 16-Apr 23: Hordes Of Locusts- A very powerful piece. One of my favorites on the Not Of This Earth album. I was listening to the album that week and this one stayed with me. My favorite part is with those power chords at the very beginning.

Apr 23-Apr 30: Psycho Monkey- Funny story about this one. I was listening to the Crystal Planet when I went to bed. One night I left it on. And I woke up in the middle of the night and heard this playing. I realized that this was the only song that I hadn't listened to yet on the entire album. I let the song finish and I slowly drifted back to sleep.

Apr 30-May 7: It's So Good- One of my absolute favorites. And this was my first time hearing it. The groove is UNBELIEVEABLE. And I love how he has the whammy on for the entire song giving it the Fuzzface pedal effect.

May 7-May 14: Until We Say Goodbye- One of his best ballads. My favorite thing about this song is although it is sad, it still has a groove, which mainly consists of Jeff's amazing drumming.

May 14-May 21: Andalusia- This one was really stuck in my head for the entire week. I really love the unique Spanish sound of the song where Joe is playing acoustic. This song was a different direction for Joe and it still turned out excellent.

May 21-May 28: Engines Of Creation- This story is rather unique. I had this one on my iPod but never really listened to it. I scrolled down to it, started playing and really admired the Phyrigian sound to it. And I found the true magic and charm to the song. I also like that weird trick he does at 3:22. Although I have no idea what he is doing to make that sound.

May 28-June 4: I Like The Rain- Love the Fuzzface vocals and solo. And the first song on the play list with lyrics. Kinda refreshing, like the rain washing over you. Lol

June 4-June 11: Why- One of my favorites. I love the Eventide Harmonizer and the really fast wah solo. It’s all just so good words can’t describe.

June 11-June 18: You’re My World- Although not my first time listening to song, my love of the song was strengthened when I got the JS’95 album from some guy on eBay. It was a good deal too. 15 dollars for a copy that he had, mint condition, from ‘97. And he said he never listened to it either. Ha!

June 18-June 25: Just Look Up- A good song for the start of summer instead of the stereotyped Summer Song. Although Summer Song is great and happy and energetic, this one is happy in a different way. It’s just simply beautiful this one. (listen very closely at 4:27. You can hear a person laughing)

June 25-July 2: Down, Down, Down- One of my favorites on the JS’95 album, which I was listening too a lot over the summer. But coming off of Just Look Up, it’s kinda like…………… a hangover. Lol A musical hangover that hurts so good.

July 2-July 9: Starry Night- My absolute favorite song. And it was my birthday on the first. This is me giving a present to myself. :)

July 9-July 16: New Day- This one stumbled upon me when I was listening to my iPod. And as a Starry Night ends a New Day appears. I didn’t plan it this way, though, I swear.

July 16-July 23: Look My Way- I was still listening to Joe’s self-titled album. Anyway I went, to Long Beach Island and there are a lot of hot girls there. I made me think of this song immediately. Lol

July 23-July 30: You Saved My Life- The very time I heard this song I nearly cried. This one is very beautiful. One of my altogether favorites with the incredible wah solo. This week’s song was dedicated to bluebuffalo and his wife. I think everybody remembers the story.

July 30-Aug 6: Back To Shalla-Bal- A rock tune that gained my attention after an extremely long time not listening to it. I love the solo part @1:31. That part is just so (insert adjective here). Yeah. It’s that good.

Aug 6-Aug 13: Searching- Funny story about this one. Up very late on a summer evening. About 3:00 in the morning and still on my computer just listening to music and watching videos on Youtube when I just happen to think “Hey I’m gonna listening to Searching”. And that song was just the chicken soup for my soul and the music flowed so well in my brain. I was up too late, but it still clicked. Lol

Aug 13-Aug 20: Dog With Crown And Earring- During the hype of Joe’s upcoming tour, everybody was rooting for this one to be on the setlist. I was like HUH???? So I went to check out the song and I was blown away. I was thinking, “why do the Japanese get special rights?”

Aug 20-Aug 27: The Traveler- Walking home in the pouring rain changes a person. But that’s a story for another time.

Aug 27-Sept 3: Rubina- Another beautiful piece that somehow wound up playing in my head. And I didn’t even listen to it beforehand. The live version of this is one of my favorite things of Joe’s music. I know, I have a lot of favorites.

Sept 3-Sept 10: Light Years Away- First song off of the new album. Took me right away for a week because it was a brand new batch of Satch. I found it hard to concentrate on other Satch songs during that week.

Sept 10-Sept 17: What Breaks A Heart- Going back to school. This was the first time I heard this one. I would wake up every morning early, go on my computer, and play this. I really love how this song is just a whole mess of emotions. And I like the whammy thing he does right before the cool solo. This one is a masterpiece on so many levels. This song appeals to any feeling you might be in at that time.

Sept 17-Sept 24: The Extremist- A classic. I couldn’t deny putting this one on the play list.

Sept 24-Oct 1: Echo- Kind of the lonely soul of the SWTA album. And it does kinda make you feel like you are all alone. But it truly is a great song and the bass line is so cool. It maintains a nice feel to the entire song.

Oct 1-Oct 8: Premonition- The release of Black Swans And Wormhole Wizards. Premonition was a great opening song and it stuck with me the most. It expressed feeling and the starting chords pumped emotion right into your system.

Oct 8-Oct 15(BSAWW week 2): The Golden Room- A unique piece that I have really come to love. Between the Indian percussion, Spanish/Andalusian rhythm, and Egpytian lead, this song has so much flavor, you’re left with a good aftertaste for a long time. Lol

Oct 15-Oct 22: Is There Love In Space?- Well is there??? This is some of Joe’s best work when he shuts off all of the distortion at the end of the song and just does an absolutely wonderful bluesy solo with just a little bit of delay.

Oct 22-Oct 29: Strange- A nice groovy song which has his vocals featured in it. Another case of flipping through my iPod and stumbling upon the song. This one was really good though. Haven’t heard it in a while and I really did get into it. Notice how Joe’s lyrics foreshadow future songs of his. “Clouds That Race Across The Sky, Day turns into Night, Still there are the questions, no answers in sight”. Clouds That Race Across the Sky=obvious, Day=Just Look Up, Night=Starry Night, Questions=Is There Love In Space? And The Meaning Of Love, Answers= Well that’s a Steve Vai song. Lol

Oct 29-Nov 5: Raspberry Jam Delta-V- A wonderful song. Sounds kinda standard, but it’s very true. This is Joe in his prime. This is typical Joe making energetic, unique, and creative music. Although when people think of him, they think SWTA or FIABD, this one is a staple of his work amongst the closer and more dedicated fans. The intro is just so different, it sets him apart from all other musicians.

Nov 5-Nov 12: Circles- An amazing song that just has that authentic Surfing With The Alien feel. During this solo is the fastest I have ever seen his fingers move.

Nov 12-Nov 19: The Crush Of Love- It somehow slipped into my subconscious and I really was just enjoying listening to it. It was another case of a song just clicking right into place.

Nov 19-Nov 26: Redshift Riders- Don’t remember how this got into my head. ???? But one of the best tracks off the Super Colossal album. I especially like the bridge section with the real heavy groove. Then he kinda comes right in with the wah. Good stuff.

Nov 26-Dec 3: Surfing With The Alien- A classic. I couldn’t leave it hanging. It would be a Satriani play list without it.

Dec 3-Dec 10: God Is Crying- A truly rockin’ out powerful song that finished off the album right. I like how he barely used the wah for the entire album, but didn’t shut it off once for this song. Funny when you think about it. But this song really stuck in my head and is always tremendously fun to listen to.

Dec 10-Dec 17: War- A got all hyped when I saw Joe in concert and this track was very powerful. A rare classic that isn’t heard much live and I enjoyed every second of it.

Dec 17-Dec 24: Silent Night Holy Night Jam- A very holy night indeed. Worthy of this song.

Dec 24- Dec 31: Big Bad Moon- The very last song, the end, the grand finale. Celebrating the end of the year with a rockin’ song like this to get in the party mood. A powerful song with one of my most favorite Satch solos of all time.

Two Shay, thanks for asking. Nothing new on the memory front. We've moved on to just getting letting go of old habits and things of that nature. (mainly me) Because whenever I start a sentence with "You used to" like, dislike etc., the reply is the same. Well I don't remember so I don't know. Whenever we feel resentments coming on, we have to communicate with each other openly. I could go on and on, but It's a new year.
