hero...fight scene...

"marital arts and music share the same principles...both wrestle with complex chords and rare melodies..."

seven minutes and fifty seconds of some of the best video out there...it doesn't get any better than this...chess, the rain, respect, skill, and old blind man playing sweet tune in the backround and some good ole sword fightin' ...I challenge anyone out there to find a better fight scene...if you watch the whole scene there is a part where they fight eachother with their minds...nice...

michelle awhile back you posted the new signs...man, that stinks...I have always looked at myself as an aries...the ram...the pyro...I am not a pisces...missed it by one day...lol..dangit... :/

Suzi, thanks. And yes, I know what you mean about worrying about aging parents, I has them too :) I count myself lucky for every day we have together, they are precious.

Ian, really nice pictures, you did a great job! Your wife is such a sweetie to go to shows with you...I told her in Reno she was surrounded by Satch-fanatics so we're gonna pull her into our obsessions sooner or later if she keeps coming to shows, LOL!!

Chris got a kitty yesterday...he's black and white with golden eyes, long silky hair and a huge fluffy tail. We went to the shelter to see who would pick him out, and vice-versa...."Thompsen" totally laid claim to him right from the beginning, cuddled right up on him, kneading dough, snuggling, and giving him pats with his paws, and kisses on the neck. Never left his lap, even when surrounded by 5 other curious kittehs, lol! They chose each other, and Chris named him....

Otis :) He likes the name on it's own, but also cuz Mike Manning's nickname is Otis, lol!! Otis is a wonderful, loving kitteh, who is also a bit overwhelmed and skerred in his new home. Chris called this morning in a panic cuz he couldn't find Otis ANYwhere and he thought he'd gotten out. Which couldn't have happened cuz he hadn't opened his door. Otis slept with him most of the night, then *poof*...disappeared until about 2ish this afternoon. We were both getting concerned...

So, turns out he's the perfect cat for Chris cuz guess where he found him, finally.....curled up and asleep in an empty speaker cabinet, LOL!!! We should put a a sign on it that sez "Otis's House of Blues", lol!!! Chris was sooooo relieved when he found him, he'd looked everywhere 12 times, except the speaker :) I went over after work to visit and check up on the new baby, he was hiding under the chair but we got him to come out and then he went back and forth between Chris and me, purring and snuggling....but wanted Chris the most. The boys are bonding :)

A happy time for Chrispy!!

Hey T2J'ers! I would like to see John5 on the G3 line up. He would bring a unique style and different quality to the set-up. Great session player. I envy you guys in the US talking about the wormhole show's. Mine in the UK, seemed like such a long time ago. :-( I just reminisce...

POST JOE SYNDROME - they haz it!

I have off today and slept 10 hours!! This cold I have is kickin' me butt! I hate cough colds. Lost my voice Sunday morning, and my voice is still going hi/lo between bouts of squeaking or testosterone fueled female body builder. lol! It's hilarious.

Always one of my favorite live songs, and one of the best songs this tour - MPHGT in Lost Vages. I love the widdly widdly bits in that song! :-)

Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone is well. Wow, looks like a lot of you enjoyed seeing Joe on tour. Hopefully, I'll get to see him perform again. Seeing him at Sweetwater back in March of 2010 was a highlight for me.

I've signed up for three races this year (two of them are sold out). One of them is held on the week/weekend of my 26th Birthday and it's an indoor marathon. I'm trying to put some running in, but work at the hotel keeps getting in the way. I'm already looking around for other places to work, that will be flexible for my running.

Michelle: I was born a Pisces and will remain a Pisces. No way I'm an Aquarius; I'm sticking with the original (tropical) zodiac.

Joe: All the best for you buddy. Keep up the excellent work.

Grant

Live review: Joe Satriani @ the Paramount Theatre By Jason Blevins | December 22nd, 2010 | Undeniable proof of alien life was on display Tuesday night at the Paramount Theatre, where the otherworldly Joe Satriani dwarfed any human who has ever slung an ax. The hairless, begoggled Satch beguiled the sold-out theatre with his frenzied, relentless, anthemic, technically-brilliant six-string tenacity, occasionally floating his arm upward to summon enthusiastic support for his crashing crescendos.

Flanked by a pair of Marshall half-stacks, a three-screen video show and a subtle, always-in-the-pocket, lock-stepping band, the mighty Silver Surfer ripped through a 22-song diatribe that mashed his own interpretation of every great guitar sound into a single night. But rest assured, while there were whispers of B.B. King (in the lilting “Littleworth Lane,”) Eric Clapton (in the gritty rocker “Big Bad Moon,”) Jimi Hendrix, (in the sonically intense “War,”) Jimmy Page, (in the gently auto-tuned and perfectly whammy-barred “Wind In the Trees,”) and every other genre of guitar giants, each note was distinctly, uniquely Satriani’s. The 54-year-old Long Islander has probably had one of the more lasting impacts on American guitar playing, having taught technical monsters like Steve Vai, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett and jazz’s Charlie Hunter. Armed with a rotation of Ibanez guitars – the flame orange one … just whoa – Satriani could conjure emotions that he actually intended when he scripted the tune. There was an aural, floating feel to both “Flying in a Blue Dream” and “Dream Song.” There was that ethereal, 2001-esque recognition of space in “Light Years Away.” “Memories” had a rich resonance triggered by Satch’s layering of arrhythmic riffs atop his band’s tight groove.

The wizard delivered hints of nuanced metal, swinging rock, jazz and even pop with his fleet-fingered jams. His “Revelation” dripped with pop sensibility, as if it belonged deep in the background of some overly-processed radio hit. (Lest we forget: The ever-epauleted British popsters Coldplay settled with Satriani after he sued them for copying – poorly, at that – his “If I Could Fly” in their gratingly void “Viva La Vida.”)

The crowd lapped up Satriani’s head-nod inducing performance, leaping to their feet after particularly fiery flourishes in the vaguely Van Halen- ed “Satch Boogie” and the frenetic “Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing.” Even after more than two hours of extended, at-the-peak jamming, Satch’s encore of “Summer Song” spurred a rare and very large dance pit in the Paramount’s orchestra section. www.heyreverb.com

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures. I thought I'd put mine up before Brian so that people would actually notice mine, haha! I know that he got a few hundred excellent photos and I'm really looking forward to seeing them. I finally took his advice in Reno and just covered up my flash so that my shutter wasn't on slow speed like it was in Spokane. Night and day! I'd say I deleted 75 pics from the Spokane show, and only about 5 from Reno that didn't turn out just right.

Tracie- What made Chris decide on a cat?? I decided to get a cat a few years ago when I was still in the military, living on my own. I knew a cat would be a safe bet because I was traveling a lot at the time, but I realize now that we have 2 cats that they seem to do quite a bit better when they have a feline companion for when mommy or daddy is gone through the day. Of course, now that I have a dog, I couldn't imagine living without that thing around, either! A lot of mouths to feed!

I have no idea what you guys are talking about with this whole zodiac business... I heard something about there being a change, but honestly I don't even know which one I am, so I guess it really doesn't matter to me too much. Until they start asking you that question at the doctor's office or on job apps, I think I'll just stick with ignorance where that is concerned. I've done the same thing with politics my whole life and have had no problems!

Ian

ok..so i just want this day to hurry up. i'm going to see Joe tonight in Austin and i wish it was 8pm already :-)

its strange but I've been getting kinda sad at the thought that Joe is 54 already. i mean i started listening to him over 20yrs ago and have grown up with his strange beautiful music being one of my biggest escapes from daily stress...but in a blink of an eye, here i am in my mid 30's and i wonder how many more times i will be lucky enough to see him play.

i sure hope i get to take my 3yr old daughter to see him at least once before he starts cutting back on touring.

but i guess i can't complain....his music will be around forever.

is it 8pm yet?...he he

Friday, February 11, 6:30 p.m. - Daddy's Dedham, MA (Grand Opening) 444 Providence Highway Dedham, MA 781-329-9924

Just days after it was announced that he'd been dismissed as the touring drummer for AVENGED SEVENFOLD, Portnoy revealed that he tried to rejoin DREAM THEATER, and was rebuffed.

Portnoy, who co-founded DREAM THEATER more than 20 years ago, abruptly quit the band this summer while on tour with AVENGED SEVENFOLD.

He played on AVENGED SEVENFOLD's latest album, "Nightmare", following the death of that band's drummer, Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, and has toured with them since early summer.
