Thanks Scubz but this problem only occurs when I'm using the neck pickup, something that I forgot to mention was that on the 14-16 frets on the A string on the neck pickup the same thing happens. Everything is fine on the bridge pickup.....

Thanks for the feedback guys and understanding my situation. Believe me, if I had known this was gonna happen, I certainly would not have gone to the concert to begin with. The last time I attended a Satch concert was way back in the late 80's or early 90's...I don't remember the exact year, but i had tinnitus back then also. I remember it being qiute loud, but nowhere near the same loudness level of the recent concert. At that concert I didn't wear earplugs and had no lasting side effects that I recall....This concert was different though, and I was seated at the very back of the theatre.

Turbo: I'm certainly not looking for sympathy or an apology from Joe. That would be pointless and would do nothing to improve my current situation. All I'm trying to do is make people (and Joe) aware of the potential risks involved in attending a very loud concert.Because I attended a concert for 2 hours of enjoyment, I now have to live the rest of my life with the damaging effects of it. I'm sure there are other people out there that have had their hearing damaged from similar events. Maybe they should post warning signs and hand out earplugs to anybody who wants them before entering the concert halls. Or maybe the sound people should take decible readings to ensure that the sound level is the same at every venue they play at.

This is one concert I'll never forget, and will be constantly reminded of it 24/7 for the rest of my life. If I can even help one person avoid going through what I'm going through now, it will be worth the effort.....So I sure hope Joe reads this message and takes appropriate steps to help other loyal fans from going through a living hell.

Thanks Joe.

*INTERESTING INFORMATION* (Haven't posted in a while. But I have something that may intrigue people)

I was shufflin' around on Youtube a little and I saw the "Show Me The Way" music video by Styx. And I noticed that it was very similar to Joe's "I Believe' music video.

Here are the similarities: 1. It takes place in a desert-like, western town. 2. The boy is the main focus of the video. 3. There is the white church with the wooden steeple on top. 4. The scene with the marbles falling in slow-motion. (Yes, both videos have that.) 5. And the most important part; the lyrics. Basically they refer to the downfall of society

-I Believe- "I read the stories, see the photographs. World's in a crazy space. I've got to hold on, to my dreams. There's just no other place."

-Show Me the Way- "And every day, I'm more confused as the saints turn into sinners." "That I wake up each morning, and turn on the news to find we've so far to go. And I keep on hoping for a sign, so afraid that I just won't know"

-I Believe- "I Believe, we can change anything. I believe, we can rise above it. I believe, there's a reason for everything. I believe in my dream."

-Show Me The Way- "Give me the strength and the courage to believe that I'll get there someday.

(Notice how BELIEVE is in both lyrics.)

It's just a very interesting coincidence how alike these songs and videos are. Not to mention Joe's song was released in 1989 and Styx's song was released in 1990. Now I'm not trying to accuse Styx of anything, because I like their music a lot. But this is just too damn close.

Here are the vids: I Believe-Joe Satriani

Two things that really stand out in my mind from 1978. I met the most perfect girl then and I think I heard Joe play in Clearwater, Florida. I listened to some fantastic music and was introduced to the guitar player, Joe. I couldn't pronounce his last name at the time, so I just smiled and said "Joe". Was Joe in Clearwater back in 1978?

I've always wondered why venues or artists don't take advantage of the situation and sell earplugs at their events for like $1/pair or even more. They would make a killing!
I'm sure if you look somewhere in the fine print or in the corner of a desk somewhere at each venue, there is probably a warning that each person should take appropriate measures to avoid hearing loss. That probably covers their butt in case someone were to try and sue them or the artist for hearing damage after the concert.

Then again, people have sued over hot coffee before- and won!

I wouldn't give up on going to see Joe, funkwood; I'd just make sure you arrange with the venue to have seats near the back or at least somewhere away from the PA, and keep the plugs in! He's too good to miss... and maybe throw in a Chickenfoot show this summer for good measure! Guaranteed good time right there.

Just thinking about the issue of loudness at Joe concerts, last time I saw Joe it didn't strike me as being excessively loud and I wasn't using ear plugs. The Who though, back in the early seventies they were fecking loud!

Scubadaz- I'm jealous! Looks sharp, HNGD!! HNG Month is probably more fitting, as I figure you'll be enjoying the newness of that for quite some time.

Pip- I'd never heard cat and cookie used together like that, so I wasn't sure what your aim was... I just clicked on the only Youtube vid with that title!

On a different subject- does anyone remember what Stu played during his bass solo in Reno '08??? Was it Going to California? All I remember is how beautiful his solo was, and I have the same exact feeling listening to him play GTC off his new record. Surely someone here remembers.... Cough-Austin-Cough.. Lol.

I am obviously new here and to this whole posting anything. I Just watched the cat cookie video, that is not right on so many different levels, funny as hell, but not right. I have been reading these post for some time now and I am surprised at the randomness here. I am pleased with the amount of intellegence and I gues that is why I did finally decide to post. The name is Dave. I got into Joe about 2 years ago. I heard of him long before that but did not understand the beauty of his music until then. Anyway, I am glad to be here.

Scube - loving your enthusiasm for the new amp. The night-before tweets were like a kid on Christmas Eve. Enjoy buddy.

Pip - no kitties in cookies please. Do you remember my entry for the JS guitar design contest by chance? Spooky similarities to your new baby huh?

My bro and sister in law played a gig last night in the city so Mr Skip and I went, with Joey2. They play Brazilian songs and flamenco. They are so good, I could listen to them for hours. Quite a few Spanish and Brazilian people in the crowd, some of whom formed a little moshpit right in front, in the first group of tables, and would get up and dance on the spot at random. Lovely night.

Joe - hope you are surviving the recording session with Sammy and gang. I look forward to the output.
