Sorry Scub- If I were in the market for an acoustic, I would probably just buy a $100 Ibanez starter guitar. If it looks acoustic and sounds acoustic, then IMO, it's just an acoustic. I'd rather spend my money on effects or another electric or some such thing to tweak my tone. Looking at an Epiphone G-400 Cherry at the moment. Probably do a p/u mod at put an Angus Young at the neck and a Classic '57 HB at the bridge. That is if the government does something about the debt ceiling and I get my paycheck next month, but that's another matter..... Good luck on the gear hunt.

When it comes to acoustics its a little more important to get a nicely built instrument with good raw materials and crafted well... you can't mask an acoustic as well with some effect wizardry as you may get away with more so on an electric.. there's lots of variables, find out what types and sounds you like, and go playing a few

Gonna go see the last Harry Potter movie tonight. Which is cool since it doesn't come out for a couple more days, its on an IMAX screen and its free.
I guess working at a movie theater has its perks.

We saw Transformers 3 last weekend, thoroughly enjoyed it, but then I'm a HUGE fan of the entire franchise pretty much, love going through it all again with my boy Max (Maximus Prime). He lucks out that Daddy is a weirdo completist and has alllll that stuff. (even have the original animated uncut with the "oh shit!" line),
What I'm seriously anxious for is
Captain America! Saw the trailer for that and holy moley, lemme yell you, TOOL's Forty Six & 2 never sounded SO good! Fits well too, perfect really.
Hey Jon, does Mike Keneally have a login here? He IS band afterall. It'd be nice to see a little different color ink around here every now'n again.
Show of hands for the Ottawa show Sunday, I'll be wearing my shiny new Tony MacAlpine tee, has everybody heard his new album yet? Absolutely Killer. It was really great to see him included in the Cliff benefit.
smooches,

Scub- I've really been on an AC/DC kick lately, even put a bid down on an Angus siggy model last week. Then I thought that the Epi G-400 was probably roughly equivalent to a JS-100 of a real SG, so long as I put the proper p/u's in there. I haven't gone to GC to see if they have one in stock to check out, but they have several hundred good reviews on multiple sites.
Phy- I am pretty stoked about Captain America, too. There was a question about him on Final Jeopardy a couple days ago and I actually got it right because of the trailers for the movie! Saw the last Transformers a couple weeks ago and it was my fave out of the three. I am assuming Michael Bay will end it now? Also went and saw Cars 2 with my nephews last week and it was good (not as good as the first, though). The first one is classic, IMO. The second one was mainly about Mater. If anyone here cares about Cars, haha.

Motorhead's Michael 'Wurzel' Burston died while pouring a pint of Guinness, the band have announced.
The guitarist, who joined Motorhead in 1984 before leaving in 1995, died on July 9. He was 61.
In a statement, his former bandmates said: “We are greatly saddened to confirm that our long-time friend and comrade Würzel died Saturday at his home.
“Würz was pouring a Guinness and cracking a joke when he succumbed to a heart attack; at least we know he went with a smile.”
They added: “It is a cliche to say that words cannot describe how we feel, and in this case, other than ones such as 'shit' and 'awful' and 'very very sad' it is true, they really can't.”
As previously reported on Gigwise, Motorhead paid tribute to Wurzel during their performance at the Sonisphere festival on Sunday (July 10).
Although he left in 1995, Wurzel rejoined the group in recent years to play festivals.

So, i just watched Live in Paris. You would have to think the post production work was done by a disgruntled employee or something. It is so terrible I can't begin to explain. Has anyone else thought the same thing? The guy needs to have 'less is more' explained to him.
Homemade youtube productions look better.
I had to turn my TV off and just listen to the audio, which is great, naturally. Just glad the dude who was handling the post visual special effects didn't have anything to do with the audio. Imagine how crap that would have been?
