Heyyyy I picked a good time to log on for the first time in months I see!!

All I really know about amps is that I own a 50W Bugera and I am changing dials and knobs and pedal settings pretty much every time I turn it on. I don't think I've sounded the same twice.

Now, this new album.... It didn't 'hit' me right out of the box like the first one did, but I kind of like that. I remember them saying they wrote that album to play it live, and it was reflected in the songs. I definitely agree with the guys that III is much deeper, meatier... I wouldn't say darker or heavier, but there's definitely more meaning behind it. I can tell that the boys put more work into it. To me, it is the polar opposite of the first album, and a couple of these new songs probably won't work out well in a live setting.

I'm anxious to see if they break out any Hagar-era VH, solo Satriani, etc. so they don't have to rely on the first album so heavily again this time around...

I can sure understand different strokes for different folks with regards to the CF album. But my personal opinion is I think they all really took it up a notch on this one!!

As I went back through it last night and listened I was so impressed with Joe's guitar work. Not just with effects used, but the way the fillers were added, and the level to which they are mixed. The placement of all the little parts is just perfect...IMO.

Chad's drums have a little different tone to them. He's also not just beating the snot out of a drum kit....there's real substance in the way he laid down his parts. Gave me a very different vibe from the first cd.

Also, I am a HUGE fan of the way Mikey's bass was added to this new cd. He not only has far better bass lines, but they were brought from 20 feet behind the band to right up in the front with everyone else. No missing his bass lines on this cd, but again, I think the levels were mixed perfect. Bass adds so much to a song...but if it's stuffed so far into the background, the best bass lines just go unnoticed. And I really like the vocals. Yes, it gives it almost a more mainstream feel, but so what.

I really think Sammy also took the lyrics in the cd to a very different level. Sam seems to be a guy people really like or really don't like. The songs here have a much deeper story to them. Not just some guys who took a few weeks and threw some tracks together.

My favorite song had been Dubai Blues (And I REALLY LOVE THAT TUNE). But it's changed for me. I really like Something Gone Wrong. That song gives me goosebumps!! I love the accoustic and banjo feel with the electric filler. Feakin amazing! It's a slower tune so one you won't want to speed down the highway jammin out to....but I'm getting goosebumps thinking about the song now. It's very haunting and very well put together in my opinion. And I do really like the Untitled track on the CD. That's a good ole ass kicker right there!

Everyone certainly has different tastes. But when you really start listening to this CD closely you just have to be impressed with the music and mixing. Even if you don't like the songs....

That's my opinion anyway.

I'm really digging the new cd, my favorites at this point: Different Devil, 3 ½ letter, Bigfoot, Dubai Blues, and definitely Something Going Wrong.

Good creation of music by everyone involved.

I had to vote for what ruled my 80's.

VH and Ozzy were a close 2nd.

Joe ruled from '96 to '11. lol!

Seeing those pictures of Randy Rhoads reminded me of a guy I went to vo.-tech with. He had hair like Randy, and he was so cute. The August before we started our senior year, he was having some problems. His solution was to go out into the woods at his uncle's house and end his life with a blast to the head. That day changed my life forever, and by ending his life, he saved mine - many times over. Flashback to the 80's. Sometimes good, sometimes not. RIP Jeff Gone but never forgotten.

Anyways `

Brian, Stanley's stand up bass blew out/up his amp (whatev?), but he played the hell out of his other basses! Can't wait to see the pics!

Hybes, if you dig Chad's drumming in CF, you should love the Bombastic Meatbats! (if you don't already)

I woke up this morning to my alarm clock radie playing BIGFOOT!

Michelle - I actually keep meaning to check that out and have not gotten around to it yet. But oh yes...I think Chad's drumming on this cd is amazing. It's just very different from chili peppers and the first cf.

I thought this was a great quote from a review from Ultimate Classic Rock:

He heads deep into ‘Physical Graffiti’ territory on the album’s standout track, ‘Dubai Blues.’ As Hagar lays it on extra-thick, even for him, in the role of a lovestruck billionaire sheik, Satriani busts out an ever-evolving series of funk-heavy hard rock riffs while bassist Michael Anthony and drummer Chad Smith percolate away in double-time underneath. As the song builds to it’s impressively complex and compelling climax, you realize Chickenfoot won’t easily be swept under the rug when the mighty Van Halen returns to the airwaves.

I don't doubt the effort that went into CF III. No one doubts the individual talents of the band. But I don't listen to hear all the little technicalities of the mixing. It IS all about the song(s), and outside of Something Gone Wrong, this CD is just a lot of noise.

No offense intended to your opinion, but I don't have to "work" to enjoy a Satch solo album.

I have the same issue too on the Chickenfoot fanclub site, I've logged in both as myself and as Chris, I purchased premium fanclub membership for each of us and both accounts now say we're just the free account and need to upgrade...ermmm....

But, they do give an email addy: FANCLUBSUPPORT@LIVENATIONMERCHANDISE.COM

to email them to get help with your status. It does ask for your original purchase number or some such information which I no longer have cuz that was on a different puter and it died along with all saved emails...soooo, I just hope they can help me to restore both our accounts to premium status.

If not, I'll prolly cry big fat chicken tears =|

Cheese-I paid for my membership too ...now it says free. I t was not free paid my hard earned cash to join.......NOT HAPPY "bout that.

Now my two cents about chickenfoot III ... either ya like it or ya don't...I don't really care . I like it for the most part..not crazy about 3 1/2 Letters (good message- hard to listen to) Love "Somethings Going Wrong" and find the rest of the album enjoyable. But that's me but I 'm not gonna bash those who don't like it or try to convince them their wrong.

...if ya don't like it ya don't like it...end of story. Because music is subjective and a matter of personal preference ...

.so just because you don't like something it DOES NOT make it crap. I mean I'm not too crazy about the new Metallica- Lou Reed collaboration.....does that make it not good ????

(well maybe...lol)

Anyway hopping off my soap box for now. Have a good one peeps......

Live Nation Sucks Balls ordered 4 Signed Wormhole posters to receive 1 and the amount of postage and double charging they do and phone bills to get shit corrected is beyond a joke.

Like i keep saying Damned if ya do Miss out if ya don't.

But now and i bet it is the case for every original "Chickenhead" they are going to feel cheated that they are now referred to as free members who have to pay again just to get pre order codes for so called Road Test Tours honestly they feel more like lazy ass Sammy can't be fucked travelling they won't let him bring his wabo thru customs Tours some shit like that.

Fair Dinkum Wrong and i am writing here cause i know Joe reads the posts around here and i know that he is better than this well i atleast thought so ,so would be nice to see Joe chime in and say he understands the situation and maybe sort something out.

I'm having the same problem with my Chickenfoot account. I logged in today and it now says that it is a "free" account although I paid for membership a couple of years ago. I don't have the email from a couple of years ago! Sheesh.

My husband and I were going to purchase the premium ticket packages like we always do, but now we won't because we are not paying 40 bucks just to be able to purchase a couple of several hundred dollar packages - especially since we already paid for the account once before.

Pip,
I own a JSX. Like you've read before, the clean channel is awesome! The other two channels are not bad at all. I would say that if you use Eric Johnson's "stages of gain" approach and set the gain on these channels kind of low and get the rest of gain from a distortion pedal, the amp will sound great.

However (and this is a bone I have to pick with Peavey), I have found that the effects loop sucks way too much tone, so using the dirty channels + post gain effects becomes almost impossible to do. All of the sudden, the tone loses all the high end and gets a ton of reverb and the output gets severely reduced. I thought at first that it was my particular amp. I have not tried others, but I remember JOE using the clean channel only and getting all distorted tones from his pedals. So that's that.

I have already retubed mine so I guess I will be keeping it. But after a couple of gigs with it, I think I will emulate JOE's usage of the JSX...

I logged back in to my Chickenfoot account this morning to see if the fiasco with having to pay the double membership fee had been corrected. It wasn't. Today, instead, it now says my account "EXPIRED 2010-4-17". Give me a break. I now feel totally ripped-off.

This household will now boycott Chickenfoot. We won't be buying any CD's, DVD's, merchandise, and certainly not any premium ticket packages ever again. The greed, especially during this economy, is a total turn-off. Especially since they keep trying to tell us they are "not in it for the money" What a bunch of baloney.

Now it is a matter of principle. Any business entity that makes me feel like I got ripped-off never gets any of my $$$$ again.

BrownBow1955 - No offense taken at all. I did listen to the cd in it's entirety twice so that I could just see what tracks jumped out at me right away. Then i put on good headphones and gave it a careful listen. I enjoy doing that but I know it's not for everyone. It just gives me a greater appreciation. It's probably a little nerdy actually, but that's just me. =)
