Going to the county fair....Gonna hear GRAND FUNK RAILROAD or actually the latest incarnation of said band...one original member. LOL but the newer members have a lengthy musical history themselves so ...should be okay or better ... :-)

Thank you all for the kind words, prayers and vibes... As soon as I awoke this morning had so much going thru my melon... I had a little break down as it was the first time I had been alone and able to just think for 48+ hours. A friend posted Iz's "somewhere over the rainbow" from you tube on her FB page (Wanda Sue by the way) so I watched. The waterworks began suddenly and went strong. Good god how that song hit me today. Wow.... course I had heard it many times before cause wanda LOVED everthing about the islands.... Her son and I are taking her ashes over to Maui in September to spread in Napili Bay. I am going to show him some of our more favorite places on Maui. Cant wait for the memories and stories to tell him....

Good night Satchland..... I need some sleep. Thanks again for all your support.

F*cking cancer. So many victims, its the worst.

If I find out the pharmaceutical companies have a cure for cancer but aren't releasing it because their are making too much money from donations to find a cure, I will inject those people with carcinogens and watch them die the horrible death they are causing others by not sharing the cure.

Akin - Rocking man, truly great, you hit it right on the head for me as I play keyboards and guitar as well, though not that well on the guitar. The combo was perfect, very nicely done.

Just bought Jon Lord's Live in Bucharest CD. A good listen. I used to love his keyboard 'duelling' with Richie Blackmore's guitar, actually still do. Amazing that i still regularly listen to albums i first bought 40 (ish) years ago.

Really glad I went to the Grand Funk Railroad concert @ the Umatilla county fair last night..they just blew me away. With 2 original members Don Brewer drums and vocals & Mel Schacher on bass newer members Max Carl on lead vocals and guitar, Wow he has got the pipes! Tim Cashion on keyboards and last but definitlely not least Bruce Kulick on guitar. Top notch performers & musicians all. One of the best shows I've seen and def the best performance at our little county fair.

Joe, what an inspiration you are to so many!! Your music has helped me cope through some tough times. I even learned to play "always with me always with you", although it took me two months to do it!! I lost my middle finger on my fret hand a couple years ago and can't play like I used to, but I still listen to you everyday! Thanks for making the world a better place man, we all love ya down here!!!!!!

012jack012:

That would be pretty sweet, but I heard a radio interview with Ed about three years ago and the radio guy asks Ed if he'd wanna play on Satch's G3 tour ever. Ed's response: " Now why would I ever wanna play with those guys??" Of course thats G3, not Chickenfoot plus he was going through drinking still. Bottom line is I doubt it'll happen, but we can hope!

JOE Just wanna let you know they played Crowd Chant at the Omaha Storm Chasers game! No one knew what was going on, but I kept the chant going anyway! lol Rock on!

Brian & Austin, the show on the 10th was great. Zappa Plays Zappa was cool. I found myself getting a little choked up thinking about how proud Frank would be to see his son carry on his music the way he is. Also found that Dweezil's smile is just to feckin cute :-) RTF was awesome, of course. They had Lenny's kit turned sideways and at the front of the stage! Double bonus for me! Man, I could watch Stanley & Lenny play all day. Watching Stanley play is always mind-blowing. His slappin' & poppin' is unbelievable. Truly something to behold! For one song, he went back to his stand up bass, and the amp popped just before the song started. That was the end of that. They had to quickly get his guitar & he played the song on that instead without a hitch. Lots of camera Nazi's so not much on youtube, but here's a clip from NY. WOOT! Besides the $7.00 for a 12 oz beer, $4. 24 oz water, & $5. 24 oz soda menu, the show was killer! lol!!

P.Lily, that looks wicked bad. We had a storm blow through here earlier. It got pretty nasty for a bit. Later we went out to dinner and had to take a detour because of a fallen tree - maybe a foot in diameter. It just snapped in half.

Ugh... A stage collapse had JUST happened in Canada last month. Wasn't that enough of a warning for promoters/stage crews? But nothing changed and now four people are dead.

From another article:

About 12,000 people were at the concert, Lindquist said. Between 30 and 40 percent took the advice of WLHK program director Bob Richards, who advised patrons to seek shelter at Pepsi Coliseum and the swine barn.

Why were people only advised to seek shelter? It should have been a mandatory evacuation.

::sigh::

michelle - Thanks for sharing about the show. I haven't heard a note of Return To Forever's music, but people here have said nothing but great things about them and I can't wait to see/hear it for myself.

And it'll be nice to see Dweezil and Zappa Plays Zappa again, of course.

...Austin...

So this is weird.

I turn up and the business associate we are working with says "oh yeah, Satriani, I went to his concert 4 or 5 years back here in Bangalore, he's more than good! There must have been thousands of people there!" not a satcher, but a mini-fan at least!

I'm sitting in hard rock cafe, had a good look at jimi's jacket and there's one of chad's caps here too.

Enjoying India, awesome country..

Actually, this was a few days ago and I didn't post it...

Tonight sitting in "le rock", on church street, just off brigade road. There's good music playing, haha meatloaf just came on!

There's a hand-painted picture of joe on the second floor next to 3 others including jimi.

Got a photo, might post it later.
