Hi Joe,

I just want to tell you how disappointed I was to miss your show in Ottawa last summer, I drove 9 hours to go see you, darn Cheap Trick stage had to blow off in the wind, crazy weather that day. I heard that you were watching the band on that stage when it happened, were you?... if so I am very happy that you escaped without harm !! Anyhow...I have an unsigned promo photo of you in my studio/music room an beside it I have like 5 signed photos of Steve Vai... is there any chance that I could get that photo signed ???...it would be the highlight of my room. Thanks for the inspiration ! Roger.

Hi Joe, I'm been into your music for long. I want to see you live sometime in relaxing atmosphere with table and chair to sit and not like rock concert. Black Swan was very good album very soothing. I listen to it maybe 100 times in months. I also got marry and my wife like "Cryin" and "Love Thing" She want to learn piano but we have little money now to buy a piano so maybe I'll casio for starting. Keep on guitaring.

Here is some techie info about Satchurated for those interested. It does also confirm that the Blu-Ray will be in 3D with 7.1 Surround.

Also, managed to take a second look at my wife's take on our tax return and bumped it up an extra $8,400. That's pretty dang good considering she only paid $9,000 in the first place and my income is tax-free! Maybe that 3D TV isn't so far fetched after all.....

Aaaaand, while I'm on the topic of buying things, I was thinking about buying one of those handheld digital audio recorders (like the Tascam DR-07 MKII or the Zoom H2n) for recording live gigs that I go to. Anyone have any experience with this, and if so which would you recommend? (Doesn't have to be one of those two) Or is there a different piece of equipment I should be looking at? I read that mini disc recorders were the standard, but I think the key word there is "were". Any input is appreciated!

Thanks Roo- The comments on the H2n looked more positive, and it is $50 more, so I figure you get what you pay for. Dang thing has 5 microphones in it. Think I'll pick one up before the 3 June Portland gig and try it out, then if it doesn't work to my liking I'll just return it.

I have a ton of bootlegs, just wish I knew which ones were recorded with what kind of equipment.

Ian

EDIT- You have a ton of bootlegs, I have maybe about .456 Kg.

Satchurated - I saw a civilian (as opposed to a Joe fan) review that said the first five or so tracks were not that good and neither was the camera work, and that the rest was fairly good but not outstanding. The blu ray version BTW. Annyhoo what does anyone here say about the blu ray version?

This is a request for details from "Flying in a Blue Dream" notes. Could someone who has this album (I mean a physical copy of course) take a look at the credits, and post a reply saying what, if anything, Daniel Levitin is credited with? And if Joe is reading, what creative contributions (if any) did Daniel Levitin make to this or any other of your albums? He claims to have co-designed your sound but I smell a rat.

Two Shay- He was reviewing the cinema release as (obviously) the Blu-Ray hasn't been released yet. If you look above his review, you'll see that 0 of 8 or 9 people found it to be helpful, and in the comments section below the review, I outright told him that. I don't think it's right to review a product before it is released. Besides, the theater mix will be different than the Blu-Ray (I'm assuming) because the theater mix was cut short for time, so several songs were missing. I think the review should be taken down; just my two cents.

Just got back from Guitar Center. Picked up a set of Ernie Ball cobalt strings to see what all the fuss is about. They only had a set of hybrids in stock, so those will have to do. They also had Ice 9's on clearance for $99, so obviously I had to get one of those. The salesman told me that Vox was trying to get rid of them, I wonder if they're peeved that Joe isn't actually using them anymore? Oddly, the Satchurator was still $129, but I've seen it at various places for $99 as well, you just have to look around.
I'm off for a sandwich and to re-string the JS... maybe try this new pedal out as well!

bunjee5- Unless I looked right over it, I do not see that name among any of the several album liner notes I looked at...

Ian

EDIT- But he is probably telling the truth to you. I did find this:
He worked as a producer and sound designer on albums by Blue Öyster Cult, Chris Isaak, and Joe Satriani as a consultant to Steely Dan and Stevie Wonder; and as a recording engineer for Santana and The Grateful Dead.

Also: As a long-time pursuer of interesting guitar tones, Levitin developed custom-modified guitar amplifiers for albums by Blue Öyster Cult, Joe Satriani, Chris Isaak and others. In all, Levitin has been awarded 17 gold and platinum records.

turbo236 - thanks very much. That's what I suspected (that he is nowhere credited on the actual album and this is a made-up after the fact kind of thing)
