Hi Everyone!

Well, my first karaoke final is in the books. I placed 5th place which is really good. I did MJs, "Billie Jean." My score was higher in the finals than it was in the prelims. All the participants did excellent and we all congratulated each other. After the finals, everyone chilled out, played pool, sang some more (even danced), and of course, had drinks/shots. We all even got to know each other more. It was a lot of fun and all of us are going to stay in contact.

Now that is done, I'm also focusing on the running. Two marathons are coming up in the fall. Next race will be the first Saturday of September. Just as long as work doesn't get in the way.

Chat with y'all later.

Grant

Okay Joe, I've got 10 days in a row off starting the weekend before Christmas, to the Monday after New Years. Lets get bizzy and schedule a few shows near the west coast area, eh??

LOL!! A person can dream can't they?

Chris came over to try to finish the mowing this afternoon, he'd already mowed and weed-eated (is that even a word?) the front yard, so started on the back. First, he stirred up a buncha FAST spiders out from under the concrete back patio, wierd, never had that happen before...so he left and went home. Then came back later better armed to deal with spiders and BAM there were wasps causing a ruckus!! Couldn't catch a break today and the back yard remains....hairy.

So I have an exterminator/terminator coming over Tuesday to spray hella outta the spideys... *shudder*....and we attacked all the wasp nests with wasp spray. Dere's some royally pissed off waspies flying around out there.

I HATE BUGS!!! Luckily I have four attack cats on guard in case any of em gets inside.....and when all else fails, I'll spray em with perfume and shriek :)

Perfume? You want 'em to get a date and procreate?? If you don't have the proper bug spray fer winged creatures, use hair spray - like Aqua Net (does anyone use that anymore?) and if possible, putting a lit lighter in front of the aqua net will do wonders. That said, have good fire insurance on yer house/car/garage before you do it. If you thought the bugs caused a rukus, you should see what a flame-thrower does :-)

Can ya tell, I hate bugs too.

WOOT!!

Yessss, perfume! Of course I use one I don't particularly care for and spray em till they get sick and fall so I can then smash em with a book or a shoe or whatever is handy...the reason for the perfume is cuz they ALWAYS appear in my bedroom, on the ceiling, once I'm ready for bed. Ain't NO way I'm leaving the room to run get bug spray or my flame thrower, I ain't takin my eyes off the little booger...they're SHIFTY!!!

With all that said, there is always a lot of shrieking going on, esp when it falls in a perfumed coma...I HATE THAT!!!

But you HAVE given me idears chelle, I've always wanted to try the lighted hairspray trick....

My son is wanting me to buy him an acoustic guitar., he has been learning on a borrowed one but he could not take with him to college. I am at a loss as what to get for him. Not anything fancy just decent. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :-)

u could get him one of the cheaper tanglewood ones...they sell them in my toewn (hexham) for about 1-3 hundred pounds. I mean, if you dont want anything fancy you could even stoop down to squire level...theyre only about 60. i wouldnt recommend them though, theyre cheap for a reason.

Peace, I've bought a few gits off ebay, all electric, and have been lucky they turned out to be fine. I'm far from being any expert at all, but a couple things I have learned is to look at the neck joint and make sure there's no cracks there or signs of stress, and to check the frets for signs of wear, grooves from the strings, etc. Of course there's always the electronics if it's an acoustic/electric, but I'm thinking you mean for it to be just acoustic.

You might try posting a want ad on Craigslist for your area and see what comes up. That way he could test it out before buying, and examine it closely for problems. I think most guitarists prefer to play before buying, because every guitar feels and sounds different to each person.

Too bad you don't live near here, our guitar guy would fix you up :) Good luck on the hunt and GOOD LUCK on his adventure with college! That's wonderful!

Thanks Cheese I did not know what to watch out for that helps. He just started to play about 3 months ago but he is very serious about it. College is a big adventure for him ...long way from home. He is attending Missouri Valley College in Marshall MO. He received an awesome athletic scholarship because of his wrestling.. Miss him though ...used to having my family close ....:-)

I probably should not get to carried away with cost because he is just learning .......

Flash - Thank you for the link..I probably will take a trip to our nearest store and check out whats available. They do carry the one you linked.

Might end up being an X-mas gift. He is pretty adamant about needing one NOW however lol

JemJVM- not really keen on buying online myself ...just wondered what peeps thought ..y'all kinda confirmed my thoughts on the matter. Although if I get one here I'll still have to ship it there. sigh ....

Thanks to all for responses .....like I said...I had not a clue. :-)

Peace, if he's truly serious, try not to go with the really cheap acoustic. That's what Chris started out on, a $100 Johnson I think it was. Played the snot outta it of course but in 4 months we were looking at electrics because the neck was separating from the body. Cheap, CheaP, CHEAP!! It ended up as rubble :)

Breedlove guitars are really wonderful and are actually made here in Oregon. They have fairly reasonable prices clear up to the not-so-reasonable. It just depends on what u wanna pay...but if you think it's something he's going to stick with, invest in a little better git that can stay with him for many years. Believe me, it pays off in the end.

That's a long way away from home, more power to him!!! Momma's got a new place to go visit, lol!!
