Ugh... A stage collapse had JUST happened in Canada last month. Wasn't that enough of a warning for promoters/stage crews? But nothing changed and now four people are dead.

From another article:

About 12,000 people were at the concert, Lindquist said. Between 30 and 40 percent took the advice of WLHK program director Bob Richards, who advised patrons to seek shelter at Pepsi Coliseum and the swine barn.

Why were people only advised to seek shelter? It should have been a mandatory evacuation.

::sigh::

michelle - Thanks for sharing about the show. I haven't heard a note of Return To Forever's music, but people here have said nothing but great things about them and I can't wait to see/hear it for myself.

And it'll be nice to see Dweezil and Zappa Plays Zappa again, of course.

...Austin...

So this is weird.

I turn up and the business associate we are working with says "oh yeah, Satriani, I went to his concert 4 or 5 years back here in Bangalore, he's more than good! There must have been thousands of people there!" not a satcher, but a mini-fan at least!

I'm sitting in hard rock cafe, had a good look at jimi's jacket and there's one of chad's caps here too.

Enjoying India, awesome country..

Actually, this was a few days ago and I didn't post it...

Tonight sitting in "le rock", on church street, just off brigade road. There's good music playing, haha meatloaf just came on!

There's a hand-painted picture of joe on the second floor next to 3 others including jimi.

Got a photo, might post it later.

Hello,

I have a suggestion for mr. Satriani. I have made a composition I think could fit in with Joe`s playing style(s).

This is kind of a computer prototype: http://soundcloud.com/tuomaila/rain-dance-1

I`d be glad in he could consider playing it.

I read these two things this morning. Worth sharing.

This

and this ~ especially this part ~

Former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach also gave a heartfelt response:

“People have been asking me about Jani Lane and I really don’t know what to say. Picturing him by himself in a Comfort Inn in Woodland Hills with a bottle of vodka and a bottle of pills is so typical of what a rock musicians life actually is. It is a life marked by extremes. Extreme attention from people you don’t know, while all the work and travel takes you away from those you actually do know. Playing to thousands of people and then going back to your hotel room and shutting the door. When the door shuts… the quiet is the exact opposite of the volume of the concert. The solitude of the empty hotel room becomes the diametric parallel of the adulation of strangers. For some, the bottle of vodka or whatever becomes a friend that is always there for you while others come and go.

Yes, I have felt these emotions myself. If you see me going head over heels over a girl, it’s because all I have ever wanted is to have a girl to love and share my life with, and for the one I love to be with me wherever I’m at, travel with me to distant locales and stay in nice kick-ass hotel suites and have fun and sing and dance and see the world. But so far this is a fantasy. Just like Jani, I spend most of my time alone in a hotel room dreaming of a girl I love who is somewhere else. I bet Jani Lane felt exactly what I feel. How could he not?

I remember decades ago being invited to Jani’s house for a barbeque, which we went to. But Jani didn’t show up. So I spent the afternoon with Jani’s dad cooking burgers and steaks and having a wonderful day with his family. My condolences to his family and especially Jani’s children who now only have memories of their dad to hold on to. That is truly heartbreaking. Let this be yet another lesson to tell someone some kind words sometimes… before it’s too late… while they are still alive. I can guarantee Jani Lane would not have anticipated everyone coming out of the woodwork extolling the life and times of Jani Lane. Which is why he probably died alone. In a hotel room. With his only real friend…that killed him in the end.”

His net worth is 47 BILLION, and only payed 17.4% of his taxable income. That was MUCH lower than the 20 other people in his office who aren't billionaires. WTF is wrong with that picture!! Wake the F up America!

I now return you to yer regularly scheduled program :-)

Check out these hot tamales! playing One Big Rush.

Michelle - I've always found this song to be the greatest birthday song.

My friends played that for me when I turned 20...made me feel sooo old, but I laughed so hard.

Hope you like it,

Started listening to Paul Gilbert's Fuzz Universe album within the past couple of weeks and I'm really digging the whole feel of that album. I just listened to "Will My Screen Door Stop Neptune" three times in a row and it just takes me away every, single time. So much music to listen to, so little time. And I'm loving every minute of it.
