Eeek there's 9 of us registered to attend the Melbourne show, so I have a 1:8 chance of winning the after show pass *sigh* not gonna happen. Those others had better have tickets..........

Pip and JVMJem I hope all works out for the best with your respective scans. And I hope you are getting excited about the Chickenfoot shows only 7 or 8 weeks away. Give Joe a hug for me please.

Just got great news from my sister! The doc doesnt need to see her for TWO years! That means the tumor is slow growing. Woot! Eventually she'll have to have cyber~knife surgery, but for now she's good.

Thank you Jesus!!

Scubz, I would agree. I guess they dont wanna mess with it till she starts getting symptoms. It will affect her motor functions in her legs first~ if it does grow. They're doing a wait & see thing. If it doesnt grow, she may never need surgery. There is a very high percentage of menengioma tumors that are not cancer, and are slow growing. The one they removed was cancer free, and they believe this one is too.

From Musicradar.com

Have there been any changes to your guitars and rig?

Satriani: "In the space between the two Chickenfoot outings – our last tour and this run of dates – I've moved completely to using the Ibanez JS2400. I did the Black Swans album and tour and Chickenfoot III with the 2400, and it's really something how going from 22 to 24 frets can affect your playing.

"You might not think that two extra frets can change what you do, but the difference can be huge. There were a few times on stage when I'd actually look at the neck and go, 'Now where's D? Where's E?' [laughs] It's funny now, but it wasn't so funny at the time.

"There's something ergonomically pleasing about having those two extra frets. Plus, you can play higher notes, which might not be so good for the general public. [laughs] And the guitar just sounds better to me."

As you said, one doesn't think that two extra frets would make such a difference – especially for somebody who knows his way around a guitar neck.

Satriani: "It's nothing I've talked about before. Doing these shows has been very important for me as a guitarist on stage. I felt really, really good, and I was able to go from traditional playing to all-out craziness, a real loss of control almost. So with the 2400, it's been an ergonomic thing, but I feel very much at home with it now. Plus, I think the balance between the bridge and neck pickups is right there. We hit a really good, sweet spot.

"The only other change is that I started using this reverb pedal called Wet. I got it about nine months ago, and it's great. It's got such a nice reverb tone to it, it's almost mysterious. I've tried a bunch of things over the years, but the Wet pedal really impressed me."

Hey Joe, I've been working on the "Endless Rain" exercise from your Guitar Secrets book for a few weeks now. Guitar improv is a relatively new thing for me (I've been a drummer for 20+ years) so it presents some interesting challenges. At this point, I've been focusing on just the B minor section and working to master the possibilities within that key before moving forward. So far I've focused on mainly stepwise motion with some bends here and there and trying to play melodically while varying my rhythm. I have been largely using the 3 NPS minor scale shapes, minor scale on single strings and working out sequential licks on pairs of strings. My next endeavor is intervallic playing, chords and groupings of random notes within the scale played across the neck in multiple inversions. I'm sure this will give me a lot to chew on. I can now see, with the help of my teacher, that Endless Rain is really a game of endless possibilities. What other methods of approach would you recommend for this exercise once I work through my current set of parameters? Also, I'm wondering if you have any plans to publish more instructional materials. Thanks-Eric

Good luck scubz!

I got bombarded with LOUD xmas music all morning. Contrary to belief, it did not make me happy. In fact, it makes me want to punch the radio owner in the throat...hard!

Anyways, one more hour & im off for two days.

Understatement of the day ~ "yay!"

I am thinking of going with the black one, since the 1200 only comes in red, eventually when I do get a 1200 I don't want to have two red guitars, so I will get a black js100 now and a red 1200 several years down the road. (and hopefully a white 2400 as well) *wakes up* aww...

Thanks JemJVM, hope all goes well with you.

JemJVM - yeah it's nice to get a little tweet from Joe every now and again.

I so hope all the test results are good ones. Positive vibes from Oz. I have the power :-)

BigBunny - it's up to 10 people now because yes, there's an aftershow pass for Melbourne so my chances are getting slimmer every day (wish my waist was :-) The lucky bugger who is the only person so far who registered for Adelaide is a shoe-in haha. I really wish there was a Perth show for you.

edit....I just realised you said a Club Joe! Can you believe I was so excited when the tickets went onsale I just grabbed two best available seats and got Row J, I didn't even see the Platinum or Gold options!! I could meet Joe! But the cost is another $500 for the two of us so I doubt it will happen :( we're already paying to go to Byron Bay for that 2nd show, I can't ask the family for more - oh well, just have to hope I win the aftershow pass.

Michelle - great news about your sister. The Christmas stuff is all starting here, can't believe the year has gone so fast.

Flash - that was a good interview. Glad you had a great band camp with the other T2Jers at the Jason Becker thing. What I want is the video of the jam session please.

'But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.' 2 Corinthians 12: 9-10

skippygirl - i've had CLUBJOE for the 2006 G3 & his 2008 solo tour. it's worth the money + it looks like you get Mr. Vai with this one O_o WOW!

Hey satch! I just saw an email saying that you'll be touring here in Australia, March 2012. I'm trying to get myself a ticket via ticketmaster but is asking for a code/password? How can I get that password?! I'm excited to see you again here in Melbourne as I saw your concert back in 2008. Hope to hear from you soon! All the best Satch!

And thanks for the inspiration.
