Also, I believe sometimes after a show they have to get their butts on the bus to drive to the next gig. Mick gives them orders to move, and they must move. Another thing is the package stuff. Joe has to do all the before show premium package stuff, then the show, then any after show passes, so by the time the show is over he's already spent hours with the fans. Sometimes they don't even have time for the meet & greet people. That said, it's a real pisser for people like Mikeyb51 & the rest of us who are used to the old school way of standing for a hour or two after the show at the bus waiting for the band to get an autograph & quick picture.

That's the way the cookie crumbles.

Aww, now I miss Joe. lol!

I dont or never have hated anyone in my life, you dont know me so dont say that,

The show was approx 90 mins.

He plays a guitar he is not down a mine 12 hours a day or works for the emergency services saving lives .. he stands on stage playing a guitar.

We have travelled the country watching bands and have met rock stars from all over. Lemmy for instance was a true gent,, all we were asking for was 2 seconds of his time that was all.

well Mikeyb, imagine you've been away from the people you love for months (obviously he loves his bandmates as brothers :P), playing shows every night till late. I imagine you'd probably have a gigantic headache, and also be kinda stressed. Yes, he is one of the nicest people alive, but it's not your god given right to have an autograph from him, yes it would only have taken 2 seconds, but imagine if every fan wanted 2 seconds of his time. He'd be there all night!

I agree with the majority on the Joe thing.. I walked right by him in Reno, which if nobody noticed was ONE YEAR AGO today since we have seen Joe, (most of us, anyway), and I said hello to him and he didn't even look at me. I think his mind was just too focused on playing the gig that night. He was in the zone. Just as after a gig, if I know Joe, he is probably going through the show that just ended in his head and thinking about all the mistakes he thinks he made and whether or not the audience noticed, etc..

Like Michelle (I think) said, if he gave one person an autograph, he'd have to give everyone an autograph, and that would hold up the entire band from moving on to the next gig. I don't stand by the bus after a gig for other reasons, but if I expected an autograph from Joe, I would probably expect to pay for a meet and greet or to be lucky enough to win backstage passes. If by chance I do someday run in to him and he's not steamrolling to the next assignment, I'll probably just use my time to chat and shake his hand rather than do the obvious thing. Maybe just for kicks I'll ask him to sign my cane just to see his response, ha!

Sorry to go off there; I've just seen more than one person speak less than highly of Joe lately and I don't think there is just cause for it is all....

To end on a positive note, and to celebrate (I guess) the one year anniversary of the passing of the Reno concert, here is Joe playing Wind in the Trees @ The Grand Sierra 1/14/2011. I think those of you that were with me there that night will agree that Joe was an ANIMAL! I really wish that they would have filmed this show for the DVD because there's no way he played that hard in Montreal. The GSR was such an awesome venue!

I'll shut up again for a while....

Has anyone watched Steven Tyler on the new show on OWN - Oprah's Next Chapter? WOW! WOW! WOW! As soon as he started talking about his dad, tears started streaming down my face, and they just kinda kept going till the end. There are some vids on the website, but you really have to watch the show in it's entirety if you can. I just watched it ON DEMAND. So real, raw, and honest.

WOW!

:-)

Well i,m just gutted for Joe and his busy life, he obviously gets paid very well or he wouldnt do it, He gets his fair share of time in the sun. If he played my club he would wait 2 seconds for me to sign his pay cheque.

It is hard to be everything to everybody,,I can't imagine what it is like for Joe. I had won backstage passes once for the aftershow meet n greet but they changed it to before the show and didn't tell me when I picked up my passes, Needless to say I was devastated , but it was not Joe's fault, I emailed Galen and he hooked me up the next time I went! So maybe next time Joe will have time for you

Turbo...Cheese n I were just dreaming of a new show yesterday LOL! Thanks for the link!

Well.....I would be bummed if I waited out in the cold for hr..s for an autograph but kinda taking your chances I'd say. I think that Joe's days are pretty full what with interviews and radio station visits not to mention being jet lagged......maybe he did not feel well ...or something pressing was on his mind.

Can't begin to tell ya how many times I've walked right by someone I know 'cause I was in my own lil world...

That being said sorry that you did not get your autograph that is a bummer.... usually the forum is full of people thanking Joe for taking his time to do just that.

In regards to Joe signing autographs and what-not, I think Joe is one of nicest celebrities you'll ever meet. He's had a lot of autograph signing sessions especially in March 2010 after Live In Paris came out. When I went to see Joe in NYC, he signed both the DVD and my Big Bad Wah. Not only that he took the time to ask me what I liked most about it. He has also been in many interviews discussing his inspiration, songwriting style, guitar tone, lessons, etc. And to top it off, we are on his website which is utilized by his fans to learn about new stuff that he's doing. He occasionally stops by to talk to us directly as well. I'd say we are pretty fortunate, but that's just my opinion.

Anyway, listening to Van Halen's Tattoo again, it's conflicting in different ways. Although it may fall short of expectations, considering that it's coming from one of the greatest rock bands in history, it still does have a certain charm to it. It's catchy and Eddie's solo is completely recognizable as his own style. I think that although it isn't quite their best work, it's not a bad song. To enjoy it we may have have to throw everything we know and love about the old Van Halen out the window. Accepting that this isn't the old Van Halen, but the new-era Van Halen. But the question is.......Are the fans willing to do that?

I wasn't gonna chime in, but now dammit I have to. lol! Joe is the best! He's kind, caring, funny, humble, loves his fans, and if everyone could have just 20% of his optimism this world would be amazing! I don't know what happened, but I do know Joe isn't a fan disser. If he knew he hurt your feeling, he'd probably apologize for it. That's the kind of guy he is.

I've already waited at Dream Theaters bus for TWO hours! Each guy came out and literally feckin ran on the bus with MAYBE a quick wave to all of us who had been standing there. Might have been around 15 - 20 people waiting. Portnoy was the last one out, and I held out hope till the end. He came out and got right on the bus like the rest of them. Everyone was yelling to them as they came out. Not even a "sorry folks, gotta keep moving" or anything. That sucked! I'll never wait for any of them again. I was told you gotta pay to get them to look at you. F that. Never again. That was 5 guys that all had the chance to just say hi & maybe shake hands, and 5 guys who punched the clock before they left the building and were done for the evening. Whatev, Still a Portnoy fan, and I enjoy older DT, but lesson learned with that band.

Joe and his management have gone above & beyond to right things that have been wronged in the past. I don't know how many other guys care that much.

Thing is - they are each one person getting pecked & pulled at by hundreds. Put yourself in their shoes. Being a "rock star" isn't always a cake walk.

Hand shake - not enough. Hand shake, autograph - not enough. Hand shake, autograph, picture - not enough. Hand shake, autograph, picture......

Do that 50x a night....

I get both sides.

jayzus, this 49'ers/Saints game is going mad! I want the 9'ers to win, but ya gotta love the Saints. lol!

WOOOOOOOOOOO! Touchdown 49'ers!1

I've seen THIS guy and was wondering exactly what modes is he playing in?

On that note, I've never seen a guitarist use that kind of phrasing before. The title lives up to it's name.

Well, Chickenfoot - thanks for a fantastic gig at Brixton last night. I loved the Red, White & Blues who played first, and especially their first song, 'Shame Shame' Red White & Blues , but this link doesn't do them justice, they were really fired up & LOUD, I reckon they were real inspired by Sammy, Joe, Kenny & Anthony :-) Alright alright, Big Foot & Sexy Ltittle Thing were some of my favourites from the show, & the boys were really having a great party on the stage, when Sammy wasn't singing he was dancing all over the place! It was a shame that I couldn't see Anthony very well from where we were sitting. I'm sure Kenny seemed to drum much better towards the 2nd half of the show. Joe was really rocking out much more than the 2009 gig it seemed, it was nearly like being at a solo Joe show, but with a big party on stage too! This show really fired me up, & goodness knows how the people standing at the front felt - pretty happy I reckon! Oh & they finished with Foxy Lady - awesome! It was over all too quick, @ 10 50. It hadn't started til about 9 or it might have been a bit after.

Joe & boys - if you want to come back to London this year, feel free! BTW - 10/10 & thanks for a brilliant night :-)

Amazing we all learned English!

I think a retired English teacher was bored. THIS IS GREAT!

Read all the way to the end.

This took a lot of work to put together!

You think English is easy??

1) The bandage was wound around the wound.

2) The farm was used to produce produce.

3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.

4) We must polish the Polish furniture.

5) He could lead if he would get the lead out.

6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.

7) Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present.

8) A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.

9) When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.

10) I did not object to the object.

11) The insurance was invalid for the invalid.

12) There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.

13) They were too close to the door to close it.

14) The buck does funny things when the does are present.

15) A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line.

16) To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.

17) The wind was too strong to wind the sail.

18) Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.

19) I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.

20) How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?

Let's face it, English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France . Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth, beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese? One index, 2 indices? Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell?

How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down; you fill in a form by filling it out; an alarm goes off by going on.

English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all. That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.

PS. - Why doesn't 'Buick' rhyme with 'quick' ?

You lovers of the English language might enjoy this:

There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is 'UP'

It's easy to understand UP meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP ?

At a meeting, why does a topic come UP?

Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report? We call UP our friends.

And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver; we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen.

We lock UP the house, and some guys fix UP the old car.

At other times the little word has real special meaning.

People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses.

To be dressed is one thing, but to be dressed UP is special.

A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP.

We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.

We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP!

To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP, look the word UP in the dictionary.

In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions.

If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used.

It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more.

When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP.

When the sun comes out we say it is clearingUP. When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP. When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP.

One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP,

for now my time is UP,

so........it is time to shut UP!
