LESLIE WEST RETURNS TO TOURING, THANKS TO A GENEROUS GIFT

*Fred Drasner, Chairman of The Vehicle Production Group, said, “From my days at Woodstock, to the release of [West's new album] ‘Unusual Suspects,’ I always thought Leslie was the best. When I heard his tour was cancelled because of a lack of accessible transportation, I was thrilled to be in a position to help him get back on the road.”

Skippy, thank you very much! We got ours a bit late. Seems somebody at the company sent out the first batch with no postage. My in-laws got theirs - minus postage - but ours was sent back to the company. Finally got them after the new year. Thanks again for supporting our daughter. She'll be excited to know her design is in Australia :-)

Yeah, I read that about Tommy Iommi the other day, that's just too bad. Not a good way to start out 2012, musically speaking.

I did watch some vids from the CF show last night. Joe was sure on fire, as always! I think "Lighten Up" is probably the best song from III to open up the set with, only because they wore out "Avenida Revolucion" the last couple years. That was a perfect set opener IMO. I think that Kenny is doing a fantastic job on the drums (from what I can see at least), and that makes me happy. I'm glad that he's fitting in with the guys.

I did listen to the VH single the other day, and I must admit that I am not all that excited for the album release. Some people may think it is because I'm on the CF bandwagon and prefer Van Hagar stuff, but I am a VH fan through and through. I just genuinely did not like "Tattoo". Very disappointed. I will probably wait a while (until the album is $5) before I pick up a copy. Anyone else feeling that way?

Was absolutely gutted for my daughter,s boyfriend,he is an absolute number 1 Joe fanatic. We waited for hours in the freezing cold to get an autograph in Manchester.

Waited by the bus after the gig 4 foot away from Joe and he totally blanked us would have taken 2 secs to sign an autograph.

spoilt the night for me..... didnt think he was like that

Well you trying playing a 2+ hour show, standing up, super hot and tired, and have been doing that every night for months. its tough, he deserves a break.

Joe is the nicest guy unless he is under stressful circumstances.

Don't hate, appreciate!

Also, I believe sometimes after a show they have to get their butts on the bus to drive to the next gig. Mick gives them orders to move, and they must move. Another thing is the package stuff. Joe has to do all the before show premium package stuff, then the show, then any after show passes, so by the time the show is over he's already spent hours with the fans. Sometimes they don't even have time for the meet & greet people. That said, it's a real pisser for people like Mikeyb51 & the rest of us who are used to the old school way of standing for a hour or two after the show at the bus waiting for the band to get an autograph & quick picture.

That's the way the cookie crumbles.

Aww, now I miss Joe. lol!

I dont or never have hated anyone in my life, you dont know me so dont say that,

The show was approx 90 mins.

He plays a guitar he is not down a mine 12 hours a day or works for the emergency services saving lives .. he stands on stage playing a guitar.

We have travelled the country watching bands and have met rock stars from all over. Lemmy for instance was a true gent,, all we were asking for was 2 seconds of his time that was all.

well Mikeyb, imagine you've been away from the people you love for months (obviously he loves his bandmates as brothers :P), playing shows every night till late. I imagine you'd probably have a gigantic headache, and also be kinda stressed. Yes, he is one of the nicest people alive, but it's not your god given right to have an autograph from him, yes it would only have taken 2 seconds, but imagine if every fan wanted 2 seconds of his time. He'd be there all night!

I agree with the majority on the Joe thing.. I walked right by him in Reno, which if nobody noticed was ONE YEAR AGO today since we have seen Joe, (most of us, anyway), and I said hello to him and he didn't even look at me. I think his mind was just too focused on playing the gig that night. He was in the zone. Just as after a gig, if I know Joe, he is probably going through the show that just ended in his head and thinking about all the mistakes he thinks he made and whether or not the audience noticed, etc..

Like Michelle (I think) said, if he gave one person an autograph, he'd have to give everyone an autograph, and that would hold up the entire band from moving on to the next gig. I don't stand by the bus after a gig for other reasons, but if I expected an autograph from Joe, I would probably expect to pay for a meet and greet or to be lucky enough to win backstage passes. If by chance I do someday run in to him and he's not steamrolling to the next assignment, I'll probably just use my time to chat and shake his hand rather than do the obvious thing. Maybe just for kicks I'll ask him to sign my cane just to see his response, ha!

Sorry to go off there; I've just seen more than one person speak less than highly of Joe lately and I don't think there is just cause for it is all....

To end on a positive note, and to celebrate (I guess) the one year anniversary of the passing of the Reno concert, here is Joe playing Wind in the Trees @ The Grand Sierra 1/14/2011. I think those of you that were with me there that night will agree that Joe was an ANIMAL! I really wish that they would have filmed this show for the DVD because there's no way he played that hard in Montreal. The GSR was such an awesome venue!

I'll shut up again for a while....
