Hey Starbucks fans, have you heard about the new "trente" size coffee? It's 30 ounces!! I read that the cup is so big, it actually holds an entire bottle of wine! So, from coffee buzz to booze buzz ~ cheers!

Anybody hear the new Joe Walsh yet? I find that guy very entertaining :-)

Joe, I am Shravan from India. I wanted to ask, and say a few things. I have read a lot about you, your life, career, etc. Why i am posting here is, i am 19, passionate, desperate, with all love, and with one acoustic guitar that i have with me, I want to make it big. I don't want to be a musician for fame or name or anything. But just for the sake of tasting that sense of music, to express myself through music. So many out here, they use their skill, whatever it may be, to impress people. But i want to use it to express myself, my emotions, and my messages to people and touch people's hearts, souls and lives. I set out to learn guitar myself, because, i am doing my engineering in university, and the place i live in, there are no tutors, and I can't afford one though. I don't have money except for paying for university education, and i started working online part time, recently, to make some money for supporting my music. I have an acoustic guitar, i am learning from net, with whatever i could get my hands on, but I wanna learn and become big. I read that you coached Steve vai, and many legendary guitarists, kirk hammett!, etc...I know this is crazy, that even after knowing you can't do anything about this, i am still posting it here.

I wanna learn from you Joe. I want to be your student. I cannot afford a book, a course, even from online, internet, etc. I could learn from net, coz i get my classmate's internet facility in college sometimes to use it to learn. But i feel like i am getting nowhere. I wanna study in berkelee, or Musicians institute, and i wanna do a course in music composition too.

When i first heard few musical pieces, and when i first got my hands on a guitar, I knew what i should be doing for the rest of my life. That i wanted to be a musician, i want to be, and i will always want to. I am so very passionate about it but i am helpless. People around, few in music, they are busy, and even if they aren't so trained, they are so money oriented, and well, yeah, it's right that i can't look for someone who will teach me freely, but still, i seriously don't know how to get there. I am making all possible efforts that i could do from my side to do things. I am working online and saving up some money to buy a good electric guitar, probably a les paul copy, may be from epiphone. Coz, i am into rock, blues rock, and such stuffs, something like Eric clapton's style, tommy emmanuel's style..etc.I love music, and i feel within that, i want to do this for the rest of my life, even if it is going to pay me less,or even if i am going to be a pauper. I will be happy doing it. But i dont have help from any side of my life. My parents want me to complete engineering, and do a MS in america, and then Ph.D, getting loans, and getting a high paying job, settling loan myself, and settling well in life. After all, they are parents, they wish good for me right? But they can't understand that passion i have for music. They didn't take this in me, seriously. They think, just because nobody from our family, not even our ancestors had a musical background, they think that i won't be able to shine or be a good musician, someone who would get acknowledged and received by people well. But i feel from within that this is what i want to do. I have felt, if all the doors are shut, no money to support myself, no support from parents, no friends at all, and with a career choice to make, with all these difficulties, why should God give me this kind of a feeling, thought that i want to be a musician, guitarist, singer...that i want to do this for my entire life?.I felt, there is a reason that happened, and i want to follow my instinct. But i dont know how to do it. I would be very pleased if you can show me some way. Coz, in my view,Music is the only thing, that has divinity left in this world in its pure form.I am cornered, helpless, but i am here, with a lot of passion and a heart full of love into it,guitar, music and soulfulness in life.

Shravan - First I am also an Engineer and unless you are going into academics I wouldn't recommend spending the time on a PhD. An MS or MBA would be very beneficial though. Second. You are in a great place with access to the internet. It is such a great resource that we older folk did not have. There are tons of tutorials from many artists including Joe. If you have questions ask here or on other forums like the Petrucci forum. Third, always go with your heart. If music is your passion you cannot suppress it or life will drive you crazy. I know! Best of luck and study hard. Engineering is a lot of work but always find time to touch the guitar as it will center your mind.

I have been majorly blessed...just got back from visiting with one of our clients at an assisted living facility. She recently turned 101 years old and was as cute as a button!! Dressed head to toe all in pink as that's her favorite color, even down to her sneakers with pink sequins :))) And her fingernails were a lovely shade of.....pink :D

She has seen WW1, WW2 and all that came after. She grew up in Colorado and eventually made her way to the San Francisco area where she was a dancer for many, many years. She was paid a dime a dance to dance with the soldiers on leave, talk with them and listen to them. She said "I made a good living dancing". She feels she was a big help to those fellas that gave us so much and is proud to have done her part to give back. She lost her husband after 50ish years so has been without him for about 30 years.

She told me she never spends time worrying, because it's a waste of life and never changes anything...I'm thinking that's the secret to her long life :) And said over and over what a wonderful life she's had and wouldn't change a thing.

I know she had to have had hardship in her life, but her attitude is one of complete gratitude for all the good things she's experienced. She never let on to anything bad or negative except to make one comment..."People are just so wonderful and nice...there are a few 'stinkers' but I just don't pay them any attention or let them bother me."

I want to be like her when I grow up...and I know I'll have a twinkle in my eye and spring in my step for the rest of the week :) Thank you Doris!! You're a doll!!

Cheesey - I needed that post about Doris so bad today you wouldn't believe. Gave me a kick in the butt to be grateful and stop whining.

And yes the Chickenfoot memorabilia display looked fantastic. I could hardly hear anything with all the Redheads calling out but Joe looked pretty chuffed.

Hi Joe: I got home today after a week in hospital and checked my e-mail. What a nice surprize to get the newsletter. I hadn't heard the latest chickenfoot stuff yet so checked it out and looking forward to checking out Satchurated. Took a trip down memory lane by looking at some of your webisodes. Thanx for music that makes me smile :)

Deb, going to a show should be fun, but there are a LOT of fucktards out there with evil on their minds. It's a damn shame.

Toosh, I'da waved back if I knew what direction you were in. Hell, who am I kidding? I'm as directionally challenged as Stevie Wonder. Best to wave to all four corners. lol! What brought you to Philly? I do happen to be in Michellica mode.
