Hi everyone...

Bob Birch, longtime bass player for Elton John, was found dead yesterday in an apparent suicide (click here for more).

He did A LOT of session work over the years, and he was the bass player for the house band at the 95.5 KLOS Mark and Brian Christmas Show here in LA. Chickenfoot played the show last year, and Joe played Satch Boogie with Bob on bass and Gregg Bissonette on drums.

Here's a small clip I filmed that night...it's Joe's tapping solo, so you don't hear much of Bob, but I still thought it was worth sharing:

Bought this vid for my hubs bday the day before mine solely on watching this vid on youtube. There will never be another John Lord Ian G.mentions Joe a few time in the interview bits.

Check this out at the 4 minute mark. John says "Thanks mate...."

May he Rest In Peace.

WOW! 40 years ago! Ian's voice was ace! Such a f'n epic band!

Happy birthday Michelle, hope you have a good one.

Best of luck to all the Master Class entrants. If I could play at least one of Joe's songs after 3 years of learning guitar I'd pretend I was American and get in there but, alas, I am still rubbish on the guitar. How amazing would it be to sit in a class with Joe?

Happy Friday everyone, get some Satch into you this weekend!

Surely people don't want Bill Clinton to come again! ;-)

I reckon the reason Obama has been so blatantly disrespected is one of the main reasons he got the job in the first place.

Ali G could do the voice over for him, "why am I so disrespected? Is it coz i'm black?"

Sadly, that's how it looks to me. Hope i'm wrong.

WASPs voting for a whitey is just the same as soul brothers and sisters voting for someone with a darker complect, my point was simply that (and sad to say) IMO as an overseas observer Obama is partly being disrespected purely because of the colour of his skin.

I was verbally attacked by close friends and family when I shared with my sister how I voted in the previous election.....& she divulged to everyone how I voted.

quote "I can't believe you voted for that ___________. (insert n-word)

Made me ashamed

(not of my vote but of them)

...so yes racism is alive and well in my little corner of the world.

Toosh, can you believe it? We're on the same page! lol! It's exactly why he's getting disrespected more than any other president in history. You don't have to be outside looking in to see that. I hear people talk, and their response with just the mention of his name is unbelievable. It's pretty pathetic.

Peace, sorry you had to deal with that. I let everyone know (F 'em all) who I was voting for and why - and it had nothing to do with his color. It's funny how the guy is perceived as only black, when his mother was white. That point is absolutely null and void. I bet if he was lighter skinned they'd be a bit easier on him. For some sad folk, you could put a dark skinned person of any race up against the devil for president, and they'd pick the devil. Reminds me of the upcoming election. Don't let that experience sway you from voting for who you think is the right guy for the job.

Michelle- Not gonna let any one sway my vote with unimportant issues..just the important ones. I have done that before, unfortunately

I was attending a church here in town regularly..several years back ... during election year the pastor preached regularly on the "christian" candidate. (his opinion) and how as Christians it was our moral duty to vote for this candidate because " God had his hand on his shoulder to guide him...

ahem and so on

anyway I wanted to be a "good christian"

and that is the story of how I voted for dubya ....... (the first time he ran)

I don't attend that particular church any more... ;)

hey michelle, it's me again.

'WTF is wrong with these people?? Then to go spreading that bullshit in other countries? Really? People like Mustaine and Nugent and all those other America (loving??) hating idiots need to pack their bags and gtfo and go live in the wild lands somewhere in Bumfuck where they can be mayor Fuckall of their own make believe town.

"Hello me, meet the real me" - No thanks Dave, I've seen enough.

Absolutely mind blowing. I don't think any president in the history of the US has been this blatantly disrespected.'

really? i guess you weren't around the last 10 years or so when literally every democrat and celebrity disrespected America and the president in regards to the war against islamic terror and everything else.

remember the 911 conspiracy? bush had explosives planted in the building when it was built?

Dave Mustaine hasn't said anything worse than some of the idiots on the left. doesn't make it right, but i wouldn't get my panties in a bunch over it. if you weren't upset about sean penn "theres no weapons of mass destruction here" or alec baldwin " we should stone henry hyde to death and kill his family" then this shouldn't bother you at all.

I usually don't talk politics, especially online, but I don't get why anyone would vote for Romney. Obama has done so much damage control after the mess Bush made, then managed to get some work done.

Romney just wants to be president so he can create laws that make HIS life easier and other RICH, WHITE, MEN. while middle class suffers for it? why on earth would I vote for him?

Obama is a hero in my opinion. A president has the responsibily and duty to take care of the many, not the few. And so what if he's black? a black hero is infinitely better that a white crook. racist bastards...

people vote for many reasons but i don't think you can say they voted based on skin color. i would vote for any conservative with a good plan regardless of skin color. it just doesn't matter. what does matter is that socialism is a failed system. it has never worked in the long run because once the majority realize they can vote themselves money from the treasury, the system collapses. google the real story of thanksgiving and you will understand why socialism can't work.

'A president has the responsibility and duty to take care of the many, not the few.'

i would have to disagree with that statement. the duty of the president is to execute and enforce the laws written by us, the people.

it is every persons own responsibility to take care of themselves. it is the price of freedom. when someone else pays the bills they have a say in how you live your life. think what your parents said to you 'as long as you live under this roof, you will live by our rules'. it is no different with the gov't and the people.

the Bush policies did not lead us down this path. the democrats took over congress in 2006. it took them 2 years to destroy the economy so they could get their guy in.

woodman, I disagree with you on all points, and strongly on most points. IMO, it's the "every man for himself" way of thinking that is the problem. We could go back and forth till the end of time. I will never agree with your way of thinking, and I believe you will never agree with mine. Fair enough. I don't do conspiracy theories. The government has lied to it's people since the beginning of time. The church has lied to us since the beginning of time. It's what they do. It's the citizens of the US that spread fear and hate through lies and bullshit that "gets my panties in a bunch." If that doesn't pisss a person off, then there's something wrong with that person.

Peace, that happens in churches worldwide. Brainwashing and manipulation "for the good of God." Shame on them.

Chunky, yet satisfying
