Mr Smooth - may have already been general info on the blue single-coil prototype guitar, as I've been off the grid a bit... here is a repost of some info I had and posted back in 2010 :)

turbo236 - I asked Joe about the single coil back in March after his performance at Sweetwater sound. I had seen him the week prior during the Experience Hendrix show in Chicago. I had been meaning to type up all the details about it, but did ask at the time if it would be coming out as a production model, but he wasn't sure at that time. (I had also asked Mike Manning [Joe's tech] after the Chicago EH show if he thought it would be coming out, and he thought maybe yeah)

If I remember correctly, the single-coil was a prototype that dated back before the JS1200, but the 1200 just came together quicker. (I'll have to check the video I took with my phone to recall all the details)

The blue of the single-coil in concert is BLINDING (In a good way)

Peace, T2J crew!!!

EDIT: Enjoy! - I asked him, and here is some of the general info on the single coil direct from Joe back on 3/22/10:

"On tour I've got an alder wood version one, and the blue one that you saw me play is the basswood version one, and that does sound better."

"Yeah, it's basswood, it's got these new DiMarzio pickups in 'em, a chopper and two fast tracks. It sounds really great, we didn't have those pickups back when we were working on the guitar originally, so it was really the R&D for the 2400 that led me to bring out the prototype and try these new pickups. So Steve Blucher from DiMarzio sent those to me and uh, I like the maple neck is nice. The frets are a bit small for me, so it's a little harder for me to bend notes, but it was no time to get the thing refretted in time for the tour so..."

Pip = thanks sweetie.

Love the video in Rolling Stone. You can sense the drama and excitement of the first day/s of recording and see Joe at the workbench so to speak.

Long time no post ... like 10 years!

I was the guy who printed up the unlist shirts back in 2000 and 2002.

Looking forward to the new album!

Just stopped in to drop a couple extra Purple Haze verses on you, in case you had planned on that song for a G3 jam in the future ... check it out:

Purple Haze in outer space, the savior of the human race. Aliens from near and far, say "thank you, Jimmy" for your guitar!

Purple Haze is everywhere, what the heck is it? We don't even care. It covers your ears with a purple kiss, listen up! It sounds like this.

One of my personal favorite sing-alongs, so I made these up and I hope you get a kick out of them! Rock on, Joe.

ps ... Hi Michelle! I miss the list. :(

Blue_Moon: I like the clip you posted. Is the album going to be available through emusic.com by chance?

T2Jers: Does anyone else think Joe's explanations of the songwriting process for UM, as read on Musicradar.com, are a little...stranger than usual? In particular, Three Sheets to the Wind and A Celebration?

Sami Viitsalo: Do you still follow this site? If you get this message, I really liked your music, and I'm sad I can't find your stuff anywhere. Do you have anything new?

Hello guys,

I'm Inanc Durukan aka. "the insistenst guy" from Istanbul - Turkey. Satch will be playing here on May 18th and I wanna hug him. I'm 35 and I first listened to "Not of this earth" & "Surfing with the Alien" when I was 13. Since then sometimes I listened to one or two songs, sometimes 2-3 hours a day BUT EVERYDAY. I missed the show in Istanbul in 2007, I was on a business trip.. I LOVE SATCH. I've been mesmerized by his music since 1991. There's no VIP meet & greet tickets for the show in Istanbul. If I can't meet Joe in Istanbul I'm gonna go to Belgrade - Serbia for the show on May 24th. The VIP thing is available there. I'm gonna hug him anyway. I LOVE SATCH & HIS MUSIC SO SO MUCH.. Anyone who can help please do so. I've sent e-mails to webmaster@satriani.com I'm not sure if those e-mails have been forwarded to Joe or his assistant. It's my dream to meet Joe and I'm gonna make it come true. LOVE YOU SATCH!! Take care everyone..

Satch has a twin “Vin Diesel” from the Fast and Furious movies. It sure would be cool if these two appeared in a F&F film. Satch could be Vin’s long lost brother who needs help or maybe just a cameo in his next film. It would be cool.
