good news from me - my Joe Art book & other stuff arrived today \m/^_^\m/ the shirt is size M, so I can wear it >=:) I couldn't remember if we could choose size. Joe's art reminds me of the Atari 2600 games I use to play in the mid 80's >=:D my favs. in the book are Self Portrait in Haze, Strange Rabbit Man (for obvious reasons) and the one on the t-shirt \m/

Hey Joe how are you doing ? First time I saw you playing was in Toulouse , France and I just bought at that time a tape of The Extremist album as it had just been released.I was just a kid at the time and the gig blew me away.I also remember Adrian Legg supporting you and the Bisonette Bro' at the rythm section.I am going to the show in June in Glasgow and that is my 3rd time in a row over there. You one of the reasons why I picked up the instrument and up to this day I practice on a daily basis as you have inspired me a lot as a musician.I can't wait to see that new line up live doing all these numbers.I cannot emphasize how impatient I am to attend this concert ! Have a nice day !

Bonjour Joe, Do you speak french? I'm a fan since 1989, when an american friend of mine put your music on ...we were going surfing in malibu beach in L.A.... I realise you are the only music I hear for so long...almost 25 years that i have been faithful. Monday 3 june I will be in Paris and I would like to meet you for a Dedicace! Last time I came to your live tour was next to my little village in Sète; at "Le théatre de la mer George Brassens"...do you remenber? Now I'm 47 and I just "need" your music, it's part of my life! Looking at the moon and listening to jumpin'out...and life is just WONDERFUL

Thanks to you!!!

Hey Satch, I've just got myself a ticket for your concert and I look forward to seeing you and the band in Brussels next Tuesday (can't wait).

Can I make a wish in the meantime ? I wonder what a guitar player like you, who likes to experiment a lot, thinks of asymmetrical time signatures. I wonder if you are not tempted to jiggle with those a little bit. I'd really love to hear you do that.

As a Bulgarian of course I'm biased and I like irregular timings a lot because Bulgarian folklore music, which is harmonically quite simple, makes up for that with a large variety of complicated rythms and time signatures (in addition to all the vocal wizzardry, but that's another story). I'm not expecting you to simply immitate Bulgarian folklore or anything of the kind, but if you could just listen to some of the stuff below, use it as some sort of exotic spice and then make out of it a whole new dish of you own, I'd be absolutely delighted to hear/eat it and I'd take it as a birthday gift, if you don't mind.

Here's a short guide to some of the twisted rythms that I'm familiar with :

SOME SIMPLER STYLES :

7/8 (Rachenitza) Beat-counting : 1. Short 2. Short 3. Long (one-two-threee)

Traditional Sample : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aha1W_wJl2M

9/8 (Daychovo Horo) Beat-counting : 1. Short 2. Short 3.Short 4. Long (one-two-three-fooour)

Traditional Sample : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wd77UZnteUM

AND THE REAL JAZZ ....

11/16 (Kopanitsa) Beat-counting : 1. Short 2. Short 3. Long 4. Short 5. Short (one-two-threee-four five)

Traditional Sample : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOGzAWtmDtE

Jazzy sample : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28lUsDquJ70

Rock sample : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOMv1e3grkM

15/16 (Buchimish) Beat-counting : 1. Short 2. Short 3. Short 4. Short 5. Long 6. Short 7. Short (one-two-three-four fiiiive-six-seven)

Traditional Sample : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk3JDozratQ

Rock Sample : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=cpKv1yxOo9g&NR=1
