Hi everyone,

I thought I'd check in again to see if anyone else is going to San Diego tonight...it looks like I'm the only T2Jer so far.

I'll do my best to keep track of the setlist and share notes here, but I have a very busy weekend so I don't know how quickly I'll be able to make a full report. If Joe plays something unusual, I'll share it as soon as I can later tonight. As for the rest of my weekend, after seeing Satch tonight, it's John Williams and the LA Phil at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday and then Satch again on Saturday. Speaking of...campbell, if you're reading this, I still haven't heard from you. Are you still planning on being at the LA show? It'd be great to meet up with you at the gig to say hello.

Anyway, that's all for now...

...Austin...

My husband Peter has been a huge admirer and fan of yours since the mid 80s. He has every one of your music albums and also plays some pieces of your songs when he is at home. I also very much enjoy listening to your music, and we both think you are unquestionably the greatest rock guitarist ever. He is currently serving a 6-month military deployment in the Middle East, the second in the last 3 years. He is due to come back on October 16th (if everything goes as planned). When I was looking at your website earlier this week I learned about your current tour and saw that you and your band will be playing in Oakland on October 26th at the Fox Theatre. I am not sure if my husband is aware that you will be holding a concert so close to where we live (Vacaville, CA), but I know he would be thrilled to go see you and your band playing live shortly after he returns. I was wondering if there is anything you could do so we can go to your concert in Oakland in October. We do not have children, so it is only the two of us. I would truly love to give him this wonderful surprise when he return from military duty. I want to thank you for making such amazing music with your guitar and your great talent. Your music is highly inspiring and uplifting, and has accompanied my husband throughout all these many years wherever he goes.

Aaand I'm back home. It's late and I'm tired so this will be quick...

There weren't any setlist surprises (no Time Machine or Luminous Flesh Giants)...it was pretty close to what we know from Europe, minus Cool #9 and Rubina:

Jumpin' In
Devil's Slide
Flying In A Blue Dream
Unstoppable Momentum
The Weight Of The World
Ice Nine
The Crush Of Love
I'll Put A Stone On Your Cairn
A Door Into Summer
Lies And Truths
Satch Boogie
Shine On American Dreamer
Three Sheets To The Wind
Cryin'
(something)
Jumpin' Out
Always With Me, Always With You
Surfing With The Alien
-
Crowd Chant
Summer Song

I took a photo of the setlist at the sound booth before the show, but I didn't look at it because I didn't want any spoilers...so I didn't notice until now that it's blurry. I think the line I can't read says "Drum Intro", which would be Marco Minneman's solo.

I'll have more later, probably after Saturday's LA show (so I can talk about two gigs at once).

Tour Time! I still feel terrible about not being able to afford tickets for Spokane Or Salem BUT as it turns out it is for the best, my sis must have a total knee replacement the week of those shows and I will be helping her during her convalescence as her husband is working long hours and won't be able to help care for her much. SO good I did not purchase tickets but still kinda sad. Joe shows don't come along every day.

POST LOTSA VIDS show attending peeps & have an awesome time!

campbell - Check your email and let me know where you're sitting. I'm in Row H on the floor, just left of the left isle when you're facing the stage.

EDIT - I looked through your old posts and saw you said you're in the front row of the balcony...I'll try and get up there if I can. I'll be wearing my SWTA 20th anniversary shirt.

Hi Joe! It was a dream come true to actually get to meet you in person last night at the Palms with my wife before the show. This was my first time I've been able to see you perform live, let alone shake your hand. You are an incredible talent and your music has touched so many people , including myself....Your music has lifts my spirits up on those ruff days we all sometimes have. Getting to see your listen to you during rehearsal was a real unexpected surprise and a real treat! Then getting to hand you my JS20s, my now prized possession and something I will cherish forever, for you to sign was surreal and something I've only dreamed about. I was just in complete awe standing in your presence, I wanted to ask you a few things but was just at a loss of words when the moment came. It's not every day you get to meet one of your idols! I must say just were so calm and humble, just could not have asked to meet a nicer person. Then on stage your just like an overloaded tesla exploding with a million watts of power! Thank you Joe for being such an awesome person, and thank you for all the joy your music has brought to me and others, your truly blessed. Never stop rock'in! We love you Joe! Have a great tour! I think the new unstoppable momentum record is incredible, I've been playing it every day for months now, it helps pump me up and get my day started. Thank you again! Safe journeys!

FANS 4 LIFE! Michael & Julie....

Hi Mr.Satriani. My name is Matthew Harnage and I just recently bought a Musicman Ax40 guitar. It has the locking tremolo by floyd rose but no cutout for it to be pulled back on to raise the pitch. I was wondering if I chiseled out the wood myself if that would effect the guitar or if it was a good idea at all? I know it's weird to ask this question. But I thought who better to ask than a professional and famous musician himself. I really hope you find time to answer this message. Thanks a millon. :)

Sincerely, Matthew Harnage

I have a dream! That one day, I would see the ultimate G3 show. In that show were Joe, of course, Steve Morse and Eric Johnson. REALITY CHECK...Joe and Steve are going to be in Austin this Sunday evening. Eric is not on tour and lives in Austin. Hmmmm....Dare I suggest that Eric be invited for a walk-on G3 jam?? If he shows, I will have achieved Nirvana! Okay Mr Satch! I have given the idea. PLEASE SEND ME TO NIRVANA!! Ciao!

Joe Hi,

I'll be seeing you in Calgary on the 17th of October and I wanna say I'm so excited so see you live again! The first time was way back when you were touring with Stu and J Mover. I saw you again the last time you were in Calgary-cheap seats- but this time I bought the package! Anyway aside from meeting you I have two requests. One, please don't play "I'm Going Down" for the encore;I hate that song. Sorry I'm being honest. Second, I find that the majority of your fans are music fans. We like a lot of different kinds of music and we know what's good and not so good-stuff over style in other words. Would you consider picking one or two Canadian songs you love and performing them Joe Satriani style for the encore? Ok I have to add two more requests because they just popped into my head. Would it be possible for you to perform all of your songs that have vocals. With the exception of "I Believe" I love them all! I like "I Believe" but like "Closer to The Heart" I've heard it too many times. Also would you consider having "Sumo Cyco" open for you in Calgary? I know that stuff isn't always in your control but they are young, energetic, Canadian and so quirky with some excellent songs and tonnes of energy! If not "Sumo Cyco" how about Rik Emmett opening for you? Thanks Joe! Looking forward to the show and I love the new CD it's your best in years and I wouldn't mind hearing the whole thing before you play some of your classics for us! Thank you for allowing us to interact and thank you for the music! Ciao for now, CanadaJoe.
