Anybody heard of a band called Scale The Summit? They're a progressive instrumental band and they sound pretty good. Kind of a Buckethead/Dream Theater thing goin' on here. The Dark Horse - Scale The Summit

oxley, they follow me on the twitta, but I don't really know the band. Pretty sure I gave them a listen at some point, but it's been ages. Just gave a listen to Atlas Novus - yep - they're good! That must be why I let them follow me :-) lol!

Guitar skills - watch and learn.

No need for the 'Sheffield Shuffle' Joe - your performance and that of the band was awesome. It was great to see the rapport and mutual respect between all the band members and it was clear to the crowd that you loved playing. Nice mix of new and old tunes - every one played to the max. Come back soon. Stuart

Hey everybody. I wanted to buy a guitar with my own money but mother just told me she wants to pay for me as a present after my exams. Quite an unexpectable good surprise from her... I know there are plenty of great instruments , that a lot of people play guitar and that it is not an original choice but it is a long time dream that will be realised. There are a lot of guitarist here so does anybody have an advice to give me on what would be a good and not very expensive guitar ? :)

hi Joe i hope portsmouth goes well, i could not go as my son had a work accident with a chainsaw that embedded itself in his stomach. he is stitched up and out of danger. Trouble was i missed the concert and i was taking a friend who was looking forward to the first ever time seeing you. Ive seen you three times but was gutted for my mate who was relying on me for transport. maybe next time

Hi Joe, Really enjoyed your Unstoppable Momentum concert in Liverpool on the 11th June, the first time I have had a chance to catch you Live, and the first time you ave performed in our historic city (it's been around since pre 11th century.).

The Liverpool Philharmonic hall has fantastic acoustics as you commented on (apparently it was designed as a kind of megaphone with the orchestra/artist performing at the narrow end so the sound is amplified as it spreads out) and you all sounded awesome on the night (thanks to your sound engineers too!!) I didn't notice any plaster dust shaking loose as you were all performing, so the volume was not an issue LOL.

My favourite parts were Cool#9 (The Psychedelic strobe show, an amazing way to start the evening) and Rubina (very beautiful, your wife must be very proud of you!)

I hadn't actually purchased the new album on its release as I wanted to hear the Live show first, but have just ordered it from Amazon so it will be in my car's CD player very soon.

Thank you for entertaining us all Joe and very best wishes and kind regards always.

Neil.

P.S. I was the lucky recipient of the autographed Set List for that night's concert. I am in the process of framing it along with a few other bits and pieces so will post a pic when it's completed :-) Thanks again, and come back soon, you're always welcome !!

I met Joe at the Sheffield gig on the 15th. I was nervous as hell but he was so nice and chatted to me as he signed my Surfing With The Alien booklet and a poster, which he made out to me.

It was my first Satch show and it blew my mind, Joe didn't put a finger out of place, and the rest of the band were incredible. I am definitely investing in tickets again the next time he comes to the UK :)

PS I know I look (-_-) in the photo, I'm really bad at getting my picture taken...

Bristol passed relatively uneventfully, other than suffice to say it was a great show

Wolverhampton, well, upping the level a bit I let a friend go backstage with my Mum to meet Joe and they had a great old time with Marco, Mike & Joe (plus Rubina), and Bryan sending me a nice message later. Lots of hugs & attention for mum (perfect, thanks guys). Marco promises the sticks from the end of the show (in Portsmouth) to mum

Portsmouth (tonight) - well, the band keep pointing at Mum during crowd chant, so they're all fist pumping at each other and laughing, then Joe bends down and waves to mum - queue much waving and grinning from mum, then Bryan gets down to shake mums hand at the end of the show and she pulls him in for a kiss (in front of goodness knows how many!). That amused the hell out of him and Marco - who fails on the stick mission btw. We head backstage and I'll have a hell of a time to remember all of it, but Joe did hug mum & kiss her goodbye, and Mick was very pleased to see me too. It was a very nice night, and completely distracted me from what day it was today - apart from when I'll put a Stone came on... amazing show, very good time guys, thank you so much. This has done Mum loads of good - Dad would be praising the wotsit out of you all right now

Put a couple of pics on FB/Twitter but now must go to sleep - 2 x London to go and it's 4am

Zzzzzzzzzzz :)

Hellfredo - I went through the same agony about 5-6 years ago when i bought my first guitar and i had no one to help me so i basically just had to go searching around all the stores locally here and try all the guitars and talk to the people there, it was an exhausting process.

But let me tell you, if you want reliability, durability and all-round good sound and capability at a good price you simply can't go wrong with a Squire Stratocaster.

If you are looking for something more classical in the Les Paul Style, I suggest you look into Yamaha or Ibanez' lower levels, some really amazingly great guitars for under 3-400 dollars (converting from euros here).

If however you are looking for an edgier sound such a metal or hard rock guitar, you absolutely must try ESP's under brand called LTD, I was so close to buying like one of those, they look awesome, sound great and are well built.

Another choice is, if they have it where you are at, a newish guitar company called Lag, I was really impressed with what I saw and tried in their models. They offer classical designs as well as edgier ones. The only thing I wasn't as happy with was the sound and component quality, all of which can be ungraded.

My last suggestion if you are looking to stretch your budget to just that point is the Ibanez JS100, not sure if you've ever tried one, but you absolutely must, it's everything any aspiring guitarist could ever want in a beginner guitar. The only reason i didn't get it was that i could not find one in my country at the time i was searching.

I settled on an old Ibanez RG last model out of japan with the old style floating trem, got it for half price as it was outdated and had a few dings on it from having sat in the shop, and I couldn't be happier with it, cept for that dang floating trem I had to yank out and put in an edge....sooooo much better now.

But then again, I play mostly keyboards, and this is all just my opinions, so I hope it helped in some small way, best of luck to you.

Skip - on the first vid, you can see the little grey haired rocker right in the far corner of the shot. She's kinda short : )

I'm definitely in the second vid, far right, hands clapping above my head, trying to look taller than T2J's version of Clark Kent....

.... the interaction between Bryan, Mike & Mum is fab, and you can see Bryan rush at Mum for the fist pumps

Great find - ta :-)

Joe. It was great to meet you at last, before the show in Sheffield (15th June). I have been a fan for many years (the Sheffield trip was a 50th birthday present from Angela, my wife) and we've seen you many times in both California and the UK. Thanks for taking the time out to say hello. Angela met you some years ago at Tower Records in San Francisco, when I was stuck at work all day, so now I have 2 signed CD's on the shelf. Thanks again. Andy. PS - having seen your pedal board, I'm off to buy a Voodoo Lab Power Plus 2 !!

Joe - you made me cry for 1 minute forty seconds tonight! Darn it.... Hopefully none of the packed house noticed. Show was awesome tonight, think 'we' finally brought it for you instead, an no doubt that's why you guys were having such a great time

Nice to introduce you to a new live fan tonight

Anibur - nice to see you tonight, sorry if I wasn't totally with it, I'm more tired than I know. Your day sounded great. One more to go

Good to know the Satch/T2J community still does physically exist, must be time for a bigger gathering :)

Tonight, Joe rocked the house hard! I had an awesome time and it looked like Joe was having the time of his life too. Each member of the band put on a fantastic performance. The night was topped off with finding the pick that bounced off of my mate's shoulder! Wish I could do it all again!
