Hey John, my ears are still ringing! Waaaaait till you see this one! lol! I don't even know where to start to describe it! These guys bring a sick vibe to Joe's music and just totally kick ass! The back screen is awesome, the guitars were killer, there's so much stank on the bass, and the drums....sweet Jesus!! Just prepare yourself for the drums! lol!

Steve Morse was amazing too!

Thanks for a great show Joe!

Joe,

Huge fan of yours since I was sixteen (26 years ago) and looking forward to your upcoming show in Kitchener on OCT 10th. My most prized possession happen to be a 2000 JS2K-Crystal Planet & a 2005 JS2PRM (Chrome Boy). Both these guitars will be in my possession until I die and then will be gifted to my 2 daughters. I hate to be one of those guys asking you for an autograph but I would really like to have either of these guitars signed by you. Any chance you would be in the area doing a signing before or after the show. Regardless always a huge fan, Angelo

Aside from being one of rock’s more distinctive vocalists, Sammy Hagar is a pretty decent guitarist. But for big chunks of his career, he’s had the good fortune of not having to lean on his own chops. In fact, he’s played with some of the genre’s best axemen, including two of rock’s greatest living guitarists: Joe Satriani and Eddie Van Halen.

In a recent interview with Gibson, Hagar talked about the intimidating experience of playing guitar alongside Satriani and Van Halen, saying, “I just put the guitar on and got a big cheer always, and then I’d burn for a little bit and then take it back off before I ran out of chops, y’know? I rate myself as a guy that can play, and I can express myself extremely well but only in one language. I can only play blues-based guitar.”

Hagar went on to compliment Satriani’s virtuosity, saying, “Once he finishes with my repertoire, he can go into French, Spanish and Russian on the guitar! He’s just so versatile and fluent.”

As for Van Halen? His remarkable skill and influential style are undeniable, but as far as Hagar’s concerned, it’s no contest. “Eddie’s not as fluent and versatile. Eddie’s got a style for himself and he’s very much in that pocket, but Joe can play anything,” he explained. “When Joe and I start to write together, he’ll show me some chords and I’ll start singing, then I’ll pick up a guitar just mainly to figure a lick out: ‘What chord is that? What are you playing?’ so I can know what notes I have to choose from to sing. Then he’ll go ‘That was a cool lick, what did you play?’ and I’ll go “[Expletive], I don’t know!” I don’t get it. I just play.”

Hi Joe, the last concert, which I attended, was that of 16 November 2010, the international city of Lyon and it was really a memorable moment. the concert in Paris in the spring of this year for me was inaccessible. When do you return to Europe for a tour? Thank you for your answer. Jc Odin

IDEAS, INNOVATION, SHARING...

Hi Joe,

Since I am focused on marketing and branding, I had a desire to ask you whether you considered recording Hollywood soundtracks? It seems to me there has to be a logical extension of your music and recording soundtracks or, at least, experimenting with orchestral music would be an interesting professional as well as conceptual extension. I am not sure whether or not you considered the idea but it seems to me this could be the next step in how you approach the process of musical innovation as I would personally appreciate such a recording from Joe Satriani :) Just a thought :)

I also wish to share a few songs from a highly differentiated guitar player from the former Yugoslavia (Sarajevo, Bosnia). His name is Zele Lipovaca (Wild Strawberries band). From what I understand he was offered to play on the Slip of the Tongue album before Steve Vai but for different reasons he turned the offer down.

I thought you would like to hear some of his songs as he belongs to the Van Hallen generation of guitar players. He developed a distinctive lyric legato which sounds a bit like yours but you will quickly notice different and certainly unique tone and style. There is something very authentic and emotional about his music and that's why I though you and Zele would have a strong creative recognition. I played the lead guitar with one of his former singers so I almost feel the sense of affiliation if I could put it that way :) I am sure you and all of us on the forum will enjoy it, too :)

Canberra - hopefully Joe will chime in with the same answer here, but I was talking to him in June about that very subject (soundtracks) and he said it's a very specific area to get into, and might change him as an artist and basically, he has WAY too much fun out on tour playing for us and isn't ready to hang up his road shoes any time soon and wants to keep doing what he's doing for as long as he can

.... which is great for us I say!

It was a mighty interesting (and fun) chat as always

Hope that helps, P

Pip 55 - Imagine hearing violins, philharmonic orchestra and Joe's guitar in the same song? Awesome :) I hope Joe will experiment with soundtracks as that branch of music provides more room for Joe's expressive style. At least that's how I see it. Thanks for the first-hand info :)

Dear Joe Satriani, My name is Zsófia Vrancsik I'm from Hungary, my boyfriend Ferenc Németh (who’s also a guitarist) is a big fan of yours and his birthday is approaching. He's very very dear to me, I want to give him the best present ever. So I would like to kindly ask you to create a short birthday-best-wishes video for his 25th birthday. You are in the focus of our everyday music experience, and I believe this present would surely make him overjoyed. I'm looking forward for your favorable reply. Yours sincerely: Zsófi Vrancsik
