Hi, Sir Joe. I am one of your avid fans from the Philippines. I started reading STRANGE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC this weekend and I was very touched, particularly when you shared the story behind Crying. In 2008, I learned the song, and it also inspired me to write a piece of poetry with Cryin' as my soundtrack and I wanted to share my take on the song with you:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChNBtiOolLk&list=UUfrCdZbxTWk_-OQPt1DhR9g

On a related note, I was also inspired by the fact that you are a teacher who touched the lives of many outstanding guitarists today. I was wondering if you and your former students could record or go on a tour similar to G3, but in a "The Teacher and his Students" vein. I have emailed Mr. Steve Vai on this idea and I am also planning to do so with Mr. Kirk Hammett (a fellow Filipino). If it happens, it would be added inspiration to all us guitar freaks out there.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to interact with you, Sir Joe

BigB, no, I don't have Paul's new album. You?

I'd like to see Avery Molek and Max Portnoy play together. Max is twice his age and already has his own band Next To None, but I think Avery would give him a good run for his money.

Thanks in advance.

When I was 15 someone made me hear Flying In A Blue Dream, I was touched by the sky. Your melodies spoke to me really. I thank you for beeing an inspiration. So you gave me a present, I send you back mine (with my tiny skill) only to give you a present from my personnal expression: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNWM-dpPfCE&index=4&list=UU3OQEz72pEju0Iv-Gv2Lu-w

I hope one day you will answer to the question about the delays (I know you use both with clear, but with lead solo only short or both too?) I really like your delays.

Hey Joe!

Was under the impression that "A Love Eternal" was a cover song by you of an old standard, but the credits say it's an original. I was blown away- although I really love to hear you shred, the melody of this song nearly moves me to tears. Just beautiful!! Could you describe your inspiration for writing such a timeless melody and how you go about the process of coming up with ideas- do you draw inspiration from listening to other forms of music? I write my own instrumentals and am trying to write better melodies. I find it very difficult to be original with all the music out there. Only wish I could come up with something like A Love Eternal. Thanks and all the best to you!

G'day Joe and friends , Just wanted to let you know I'm back playing my guitar ! but acoustic this time round !

My band (duo) called "The Drewsterz" played our first gig a couple weeks ago at a local unearthed comp.. While we didn't win (not that we went to win, just to have fun) we were the last act on and only act to get an encore ! and since then we have had a great response .. got a bit of a video up on youtube, no actual video just audio but some pics of the night.(milo is my nick name) ...

Hey Joe, My name is Maria and i was searching for an option to send you this in a private message, but... The thing is that a very dear friend of mine has a Birthday soon (Oct 3) and i want to make him the best surprise ever! His name is Evgeni Jeliazkov (or "Gena" as we call him) and he is one very talented and passionate young guitarist. So - about the surprise - if you could record like a few seconds video of wishing him "Happy Birthday, Gena", one that i can play to him, it would mean the world to him as he has endless respect of you as an artist and a person! It would truly be an EPIC surprise :) My facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/Maria.D.McK

I really hope you make that possible (and he doesn't see that message :P).

Thanks, thanks, thanks!

Yours very grateful, Maria

Hi gang, long time no talk :) Life has been overly busy for us here but I'm still around, reading and thinking of folks. Ran across this:

new song by Davy Knowles

and loved it!! Has anyone else heard it yet? Or am I just late to the party? I thought I heard Davy had a new album out too, but can't find it to buy if so. Anyone in the "know" out there??

Headed into fall here, nice blustery, rainy, Pooh-kind-of-day :) I love fall! My wee mum has moved into an assisted living place, she just couldn't live alone anymore, so we did the big move, had the bigger estate sale and now have the property up for sale. I pray it sells before winter sets in. It's been a ton of work but at least she has care 24/7 now and I see her every day. We both still miss my dad so much, been almost 2 years that he's gone now...but are muddling along. Life does go on.

Oh HEY! Chris was an extra in a movie! It was big excitement around here, Brother In Laws was shot in and around K Falls for about 6 weeks and he made it on set as a "background actor" (say that with a snobby accent, LOL!) It stars Bill Pullman and Rita Wilson, and some of the cast from Saturday Night Live. He even made the local paper in a picture or two. What an experience it was and we can't wait for the movie to come out next year to see if we can spot him for .05 seconds, LOL!! Good times man!!

We are hoping for a really harsh winter here this year, and probably for the next 4-5 years. Been so incredibly dry we've lost a lot of our beautiful lakes...down to 0-10% capacity in many cases. I don't know if they'll ever recover properly...or if we'll get the desperately needed snow.

Enough babble from me...I hope everyone is well and happy. Hiya Joe, I see you're back on the road again :) Hard working as usual! We love ya!!

Later gang....T-bone.....

Hey Joe, I was thinking allot lately and thought I have to say thanks to you. On Oct 4 you had come to Moncton NB, what makes that a big deal you may ask. I had lost my mother that February and then had a heart attack and open heart surgery that July so needless to say I was really depressed. When you came to Moncton, we rushed out to get our tickets, jump forward to day of the concert I'm just starting to get back on my feet from the surgery and very excited, and finally upbeat and ready for your show. With everything that I had been through I felt like your show was brought to town just for me. When the show came to a close, you were throwing picks to the crowd I said to my wife that we were too far to gett one but then suddenly I was hit in the chest, I looked down and there was a pick, it was like I was meant to get it.....Thanks Joe for that night, really lifted my spirits and I forgot my issues for a little bit while you took us flying in a blue dream.

All the Best, please hurry back to Moncton NB.

richjul2vai4 - I know! It's been such a long wait. Watching all those Chickenfoot and solo tours happen on the other side of the world had been killer, but at last I get to see 2 Joe solo shows and I cannot wait.

T - Bone - great to hear from you! Am glad you and Chris are going well. Davy Knowles has a fab new album out called The Outsider - it's lovely Davy stuff. He did a crowdfunding campaign so those of us who contributed have had the digital download and I think it will be on itunes soon. He has revamped his website too so the forum is up and running again. I have my fingers crossed that he is coming out to Oz next year.

Happy Friday and happy weekend everyone.
