Do The Stu - I'll second TBones, we like a good read here. I find nods towards older songs, but there's such a fresh perspective on everything. The songs feel, I'm no good with words, compositionally rich/deep? There's a lot of atmosphere, it's almost like one complete movie soundtrack. But like most of Joe's music, it's the soundtrack to all our lives isn't it?

Cataclysmic - that one moves around so much, it's so clever

Wooleyman - great words, very true. Although it was LIAM that got my hairs up, and water in the eyes (on practically every listen)

Ghatler1001 - sorry for your loss. I can completely sympathise with you. Similar happened to me with the Unstoppable Momentum album and the song 'I'll Put A Stone...' Joe's music has a habit of helping with all the highs and lows

TBone - this downloading lark is sounding very technical huh. Cracking album. I gave myself a couple hours off today. New Album time has become a bit of a trip now because it means new tour, new tickets, but one guy is missing from the party. Gets me every time. Hope Chrispy is still snapping away with that camera

Before I go to bed - just had a quick go at Lost In A Memory... so here's Lost In A Memory

Really liking the new album. Even though it definitely feels like a new album, it also feels like a trip through Joe's entire discography.

Shockwave Supernova - New vibes

Lost In A Memory - Engines Of Creation vibes

Crazy Joey - Seems like a shout out to Jumpin' In - Unstoppable Momentum and Is There Love In Space? vibes

In My Pocket - One of my favorites on the album. Captures that undeniable Satch groove reminiscent of the JS '95 album

On Peregrine Wings - Definitely Crystal Planet-esque Has that powerful upbeat rhythm and awesome melody.

Cataclysmic- Another favorite. Crystal Planet vibes as well here. Love the groove and love the melody. Really enjoy that twangy guitar intro as well. The chords at the beginning really do provide a sense of oncoming danger. It feels like a piece of music that would play while a spaceship was trying to escape the......ahem cough cough.....shockwave from a supernova star explosion.

San Francisco Blue - Unstoppable Momentum vibes. Kinda bouncy and goofy. Almost like Three Sheets To The Wind and Shine On American Dreamer.

Keep On Movin' - Very interesting piano intro by Mike Keneally. Reminded of Jordan Rudess' playing. Strong Strange Beautiful Music vibes on this track.

All Of My Life - Cool track. Very unique yet simple. I like the percussion in combination with the smooth chords on top. Reminds me of a track that Sting would create.

A Phase I'm Going Through - Every so often, Joe drops these tracks that you don't know what to make of them. That's not a bad thing though. I love it. It's so outside from any other tracks he's done in a while. I honestly think Marco is really helping him push the envelope rhythmically because the beat on this track feels weird but fits at the same time. Not to mention, how often does Joe use a phaser. It's to hear some of that. :)

Scarborough Stomp - This song doesn't really grab my attention.....yet. Except for that cool Harpsichord-like break that Mike does.

Butterfly And Zebra - The title says it all. I don't know what else to say. lol

If There Is No Heaven - More Crystal Planet vibes. YESSSS!!! Reminds me of Lights Of Heaven.

Stars Race Across The Sky- Definitely a spiritual successor Clouds Race Across The Sky. Similar, if not, the same chords as well. Cool stuff.

Goodbye Supernova - Engines Of Creation vibe. Nice ballad. A good closer to the album.

Joe, I've been a fan of your music since the late '80s and enjoy every single album. Thank you for using your gifts to bless the world with this form of beauty!

For many years, it seems, a theme of spiritual questioning and seeking has been present in your work. 'If there's no Heaven' continues in this vein, and is a masterful, thought-provoking piece. I've undergone a spiritual journey myself and feel it is very important to never stop seeking truth, wherever it leads. While I became a Christian years ago, I am not content to follow the crowd and continue to be driven to ask hard questions concerning science, faith, and life itself. It is normal to entertain doubt at times, and 'If there's no Heaven' really forces one to come face to face with that doubt and ponder what it would mean for each of us to simply disappear into nothingness at death.

I am then reminded that there exist good reasons to believe in the "soul" and the afterlife. We are intimately aware of our own consciousness, there have been some profound "near death" experiences, and our very existence is quite miraculous when considering the astronomical odds against a habitable universe and environment. The universe itself tells us that it is more than a cold, meaningless place. The Creator who initiated it all, in what we call the Big Bang, chose to walk among us as a man and promised Heaven to those who take him up on His offer. I hope that you and many others can know the real Jesus, seeing through the distortions imposed by the fallible humans who comprise the Church.

Hi Joe, I own all your albums, but the new one is disappointing. Great guitar playing, but I miss the great melodies from the early albums. The production and mix is too flat... too much compression in the mix. Can't hear any breath in the mix like on Blow by Blow.

Hey Joe,

Looking forward to seeing you in Glasgow in November this year, also congrats on the new album release it sounds amazing. On your Unstoppable Momentum tour I won the Instagram competition in Glasgow last timer you were here. Was a bit disappointed that I never got to meet you in person, and appreciate that I got a signed setlist, but if I got to meet you in Glasgow before/after the show just to tick another box of the bucket list that would be awesome! If you could arrange that I would be the happiest guy in the world? From one of your biggest and heavily influenced fans, Mark McCleary.

My advice..... less is more. I wish Joe could record an album with less songs, but more memorable.

I have the new album, played it several times already and it gets better every time I listen to it ..... every track ..... a truly superb album - Can't wait to see Joe on the Supernova tour when he comes to the U.K Bristol, Colston Hall is my venue ( first saw Joe on the Unstoppable Momentum tour ). Joe ..... you are the best !

As a footnote, I have just been made aware of a guitarist by the name of Joe Saunders, who is very good indeed and who is influenced in part by Joe Satriani, if you are a fan of good guitar work, look him up.

Downloading the new album as I write . So I have not had a proper listen yet.

Surprisingly my body decided to have a heart attack last Friday brought on by a bout with tachycardia. Mild one as far as these things go.... any whooo I will give the album a proper listen but if it gets me too emotionally worked up I'll have to delay a full listen.

Because it is something I have experienced in the past... several Joe songs regularly give me chest pains by the shear beauty of the compositions and emotions conveyed ....... :-)

Grateful to have some new tunes by my favorite artist.

Brownbow1955 I want you to challenge him to a guitar battle and see who wins. Now tell me this: Who is the professional guitarist? You or Satch. Who is worth millions of dollars? You or Satch. If he chooses to write a what you call a terrible at least he has soul in his solos. I don't care if he writes horrible solos, then let him. If you really were a fan, you would stick with him till the end. This is my inspiration you speak of.

Monterrey Tracey - Doing good thanks. Had a few tough times with my daughter's cancer. Her operation was quite successful and as yet *touch wood hasn't come back. She's a bit like a bird with a broken wing but getting on with it. The two grandchildren she's provided us with are a delight, they bring a lot of Cappy-ness. Hope you and Chris are well and happy.

It's funny to get on here and see wolf2 still posting crazy shiat almost 20 years later!

If michelle is still around ... HI MICHELLE!!!

I've moved from Arkansas to Colorado to Alaska. Playing and writing a lot of music these days. Loving life. I've gotten heavily into Kings of Leon and Ed Sheeran, but Joe still has the #1 spot on my favorites list.

Just wanted to get on and say how much I love the new album. It's definitely got my attention, way more than the previous two albums. Favorite song after about 10 listens: Cataclysmic. San Francisco Blue is currently a close 2nd.

Keep up the good work Joe! Hope you are well and loving every minute of this life.

Once again a fabulous collection of masterpieces.

So much talent and I get to see you in Portsmouth UK in November.

I can't wait.

Ordered the tickets months back but no sign of them yet. Lost the email address as well. does anybody have details please?

I want to say that like there is a Mozart effect to Mozarts work. I firmly believe there is a Satriani effect in throughout Joe Satriani's work. I feel smarter for listening to a lot of his works. I listen to both Joe and Mozart and both I consider the pinnacle of their art. God bless Joe Satriani.

To Iloveguitars:

Just because I may not play does not take away my right to an opinion, especially when it concerns what MY PERSONAL TASTES are. The fact that he can do something I cannot is why I have been a fan for so long. For me , Joe's older stuff is what I hold near and dear, and after 20-25 years it still holds up. An awful lot of his newer stuff....eh, I have to pick and choose. I can still listen to "War", loud, daily, and I guess I'm waiting for him to outdo that freakin' masterpiece!

That being said, I still stand by my opinion of Unstoppable Momentum. An Orwellian title. I can listen to what I like from that album in 15 minutes or less.

THAT being said, I can be an adult and amend my opinion on the new album. I forget that it takes a few listens to digest the material on a new album. After further digestion I have concluded that I do quite LIKE most of the album; 9/15 to be exact. The ones I like get better with each taste. The ones I don't like, do not. That simple.

Opinions Dude, and when it comes to music it is highly subjective. I know I offended your hero, but don't you think that for 20 some odd years maybe I saw Joe the same way, but lately he dropped a couple stinkers? I don't just blindly accept every thing that comes from him. Just because he's talented and gifted doesn't mean I have to LIKE it all. The red self-titled album; well done if you like blues; me, not. EOC; techno, not a favorite of ANYONE I know that likes Joe. SBM; it literally gives me a headache for some reason. Bottom line , Joe is only a human.

BTW, I do love the new Drummer and Bass, I never thought Jeff Campetelli could/would be replaced.

Pip, i do so love mah kitties. Cats are good people! I'm soo wanting another kitten, but three kitties make enough cat hair for this house. lol! Howz u?

Chee, I've listened to it in bits and pieces over the past few days. Hands down my fave is Butterfly & Zebra. Like I said, it must be the mood I'm in.

PeaceDeb, what in thee hell, man! Don't go doing stuff like that! You can stub your toe if you want attention! Seriously though, I hope you're on the mend and feeling better! xoxo

Toosh! As always, best withes to your daughter and your family.

XROB, robbiebob, how the hell are ya man! Alaska, for realz? From the hottest place to the coldest. What's up with that?

Glad to FINALLY see some familiar faces! It would be great if we could get the family back up in here! . . As for me, I'm always checking in, but there's never much action...except Wolf. lol! Going through some stuff right now myself. My niece was killed in June, and they want to charge her killer with a misdemeanor. Anyone else who would have done the same thing he did would have been locked up immediately. It's really true. It's all about who ya know.It ain't over till it's over. My family will never be the same. As for me personally, my kneecaps have seemed to forget where they live and keep moving to placed they're not supposed to be. I'm having a knee scope done Thursday to clean out a torn lateral meniscus and cut something else thats making my knee cap go the wrong way. My other knee is just being a selfish bitch and don't want to be left out of all the fun, so it decided to dislocate and stay that way for 8 hours Wed. night. The knee that I'm having surgery on was dislocated for a day and a half. Meniscus cartilage is getting in the way and holding them out of place. Talk about good times! Hell yeah! They're ripping through here like mad. All within the span of a month. When shit goes sideways, it goes sideways!

Anyways, good to see some old friends. xo to all y'all!

Still have not given Shockwave Supernova a proper listen I-pod would not sync but finally figured that out so a listen is next on the agenda

Michelle- Aww thanx <3 . I think I am going to be okay hit me out of left field...strange thing was thru the whole thing I was like ...calm. No impending dooom feeling... no chest pain just a little nagging pain behind my left shoulder blade & extreme exhaustion . I thank God I went to the hospital instead of home to bed. Yeah glad to be here... really really glad.

BigBunny, glad to hear you got your problem solved and are happily listening!! Joe continues to amaze eh? And what's a little cat hair amongst friends, lol!

Peace Lily Deb, Geez Loueeze, so sorry for what happened, but glad to hear it was sorta "mild", if those things ever are and that you went right to the hospital. I hope you are well on your way to getting and feeling better and I agree....stress is a huge factor, so follow yer name and peace out! Hugs!

Cappy, glad to hear your daughter is doing "okay", though I bet everyone keeps a close watch on her...how could you help that! I hear that grandkids are your reward for parenthood, lol! I know that *I* was a delightful grandchild, never gave my gramma a second of trouble!! *looks right, looks left, coughs* so yeah....and thanks for the good wishes for Chris too, he's hanging in. He has developed a heart condition, so we are in the process of testing and finding more out about that, but otherwise....life goes on.

Go4itnaturalpath I agree. I've often talked with my son and compared Joe and his ability to compose music to that of Mozart. Aren't we lucky to be alive at the same time to enjoy his massive talent!!

Chelle, u know u always have my virtual hugs and good vibes through the cosmos....u must take care of yerself missie, especially with all that has happened lately. Beeg hugs! Oh, and you know you can NEVER have too many kitties! Besides, yer boys are so mellow, isn't it about time to get a youngster up in there to shake things up? :D
