Hello everybody! Just found this site -> excellent! I've been a Satch fan from "Surfing with the alien". I'm also a Vai fan, so it's gonna be great to see G3 in Helsinki (Finland) June 17th. string G: I saw Deep Purple last year when they were in Helsinki on same tour -> excellent again! Wouldn't it be something to see Steve Morse on G3!?! What do you all think about that? Rock on!

Do The Stu: I'm just tryin' to edit a Setlist for the coming G3 -> I'm listening all of Joe's records and I think it's gonna take me a few hours to pick just the 5-10 mostwanted ones, but hey: it's a pleasure to dive into the older ones after a little while. Right now I'm listening "Crushing day" and I think it's gonna be on the list (always loved it (too)). I've seen Joe live once on July 2000 in Pori Jazz Festival here in Finland. It was a starting gig in a small club. There were 2000 fans (full house) in that small club and I think the most of us were real fans, cause right from the first song everybody just freaked out!!! That was absolutely one of the best live experiences of my life so far... I'm sorry I have to go to sleep soon, but I'll be back here again every once in a while. I've got two sons and a wonderful wife which also uses my (our) computer and we do alot of other things too (live things like playing icehockey etc.), but anyway: it's so nice to have you all new friends! Peace, love and all other good things!

Oh man, things happen pretty fast here on this site (I wonder if I'm too old for this kind of Speed of Light) ;)

michelle: thank you for the hint of those pictures from Joe's 2000-tour -> yes it actually was his birtday July 15th. I checked the (wrong) date yesterday from a C-cassette which I taped for a moodraiser for the trip from our hometown to Pori, where the gig was. I made that tape months before and the gig-date changed later.

Have to go, cause my beautiful wife needs PC for working now.

P.S. sure hope (as a rookie on this site) there won't be many hostile debates going on when I come back next time. Peace, people... (and my profession is a warrant officer)! ...go listen some nice music...

Lots of messages...ok, here we go;

slanshroom: You spelled Kaustinen just right. Isn't that a Festival of folk music? What do you play (both instrument and genre)? Happy that you enjoyed your visit. About the beauty of our country; you should see it like this on winter too, we've got over 60 cm of snow at the moment and the spring sun glitters...and soon my feet will get wet. Did you already make up with your girlfriend? ; )

masterpick: Don't know why anyone hasn't mentioned "Alien love secrets" when you asked about the best S Vai album. Perhaps they don't consider it as an album, cause it's got only 7 tracks? Anyway it's bad!!! (and I've got all of them).

Clarky and others who agree: I totally agree your comment for JazzyBoy's question about the best Pink Floyd album. "Wish You Were Here" and "The Wall" expanded my consciousness alot on my younger years (music itself is my dope).

Xerpac: Really don't know why anyone hasn't mentioned STEVE MORSE when you asked for noteworthy instrumental guitar music players! If you haven't heard of him, you should absolutely check him out (his early years too with Dixie Dregs). He has been selected the best rock guitarist and the best overall guitarist quite a many times in Guitar Player magazine (anybody correct me, if I'm wrong). These days he plays with Deep Purple, which was quite a nice surprice for me when it happened, cause I've always been a DP fan too.

Joe Satriani (himself): See you in Helsinki next summer. When are you gonna come here (in Finland) with two Steves? I'd even sell my moped for that :-D

stringG: Hi, dude! I'm listening my sons snoring right now, but I'll change that soon for Ben Granfelt. He's a finnish guy who has listened Joe too for sure. Go check him out at his website, there are some samples too: www.bengranfelt.com

...and that last one was free for all! (I don't understand those link including tips, cause I've only just started my chat life)

Peace (from the professional soldier)

stringG: I don't know about usual, but in Helsinki (Finland) G3-show they sell tickets for 50 - 55 euros.

This Bill guy seems to have a pretty good sense of humour while he is conscious. You're lucky (in many ways). God bless loving women.

I'm gonna go and play "(You're) My World" to my wife right now.

Hi everybody! I've been reading new messages here every now and then, but have missed a few hundred in last two weeks. Anyway one recent subject has been age;

I'm 35 years old now and I don't feel the same than I felt when I was 18 -> I feel better, a lot. I play better (drums, guitar and my wife). I'm not even close as angry (to the whole world). I've learnt how to seize this very moment (or however you say "carpe diem" in English) and enjoy the little, simple things. Beer tastes better (eventhough I drink it a lot less)... and many other things...

michelle and Eva (dragonchild): keep on marching proudly, towards the final victory!

Someone put this link here some week ago or so -> excellent! My favourite is Lucky7

Tastey: click the "play hi-fi" or the "play lo-fi" (depending on the speed of your internet connection) after the song titles (on the right). Lucky7 was the one to go first!!!

The first and second are good too!

I'm back. Played well, wife played great...

Stu Clone: Weckl (with or without mullets...) does kick ass in "Synergy", too!

Ethn Hayabusa: I wouldn't fuck David Lee Roth, but I sure prefer listening his music than any of new VH with Sammy Hagar with his pitiful voice and makesmewannapuke-like composition skills. Eddie WAS good though...

...I wonder if that'll bring some life in the musical conversation here...

btw Hayabusa is a nice bike. What does that Ethn mean?

quito: I just put Alex Lifeson's "Victor" on my cd, thanks for reminding of the existance of that album (haven't listened to it for a long time). The singer on "Start Today" really goes for it!!!

Check this! On TruthOla Steve Morse imitates Alex Lifeson (and Jeff Beck and Eric Johnson).

Aaahhh...slept well, no work till tomorrow!

Mikey Vai: about the links -> you're all very welcome. I just love music and if I can ever share good vibes with people who get some pleasure out of it, I'm more than happy!

btw I saw VH in Monsters of Rock -tour -84 in Stockholm -> Eddie, Alex and Anthony played and DLR jumped!!! The gig started with Mötley Crue, then VH and final: AC/DC (with Phil Rudd on drums). I was in heaven for a little while with those 35 000 other happyones!

quito: at first I also thought that it was Geddy Lee singing on "Start Today" (on Alex Lifeson's solo album "Victor") but I'm quito sure that it's not ; ) This guy behind pseudonym "Dalbello" appears by courtesy of EMI Electrola Gmgh., Germany. And the way he sings is a bit more intense or something...I can't explain but I also trust my ears. Uuuhhh...I'm jus listening track 8 from that very album -> I love the way Alex plays his guitars on this one...

Edit: Ethn, sorry about my stupidity, that's a cool name! And about this VH -conversation -> no offence to you or Ty (Fretslayer) these are just matters of opinions... btw Ty: listened to your stuff -> keep on Rockin' !!!

I'm just listening Joe's "Time Machine" after a while (a year or so) -> oh man, he's (you are (after all I'm supposed to talk to Joe here)) the man! I really enjoy how Simon Phillips makes "Banana Mango II" complete with this syncop thing...and these hi-hats...uuhhhh!! ...and "Lords of Karma" sounds really good live; a little faster than the original...

Does anyone know with whom is Joe going to play on the coming G3 -tour? Matt Bissonette/Stuart Hamm??Jeff Campitelli/John Cuniberti/Greg Bissonette??? Also would be grateful if someone told me Steve Vai's composition. Less than three months till G3 at Helsinki -> I'm getting pretty excited...

Mikey Vai: didn't get your link to work yet, but I'll sure check that out. Thanks!

Anybody heard "Spock's Beard"? Their album "V" is excellent! (I've been listening old stuff the whole day)...

anibur: I couldn't find anything about any newer than "Souvenir" from Eric Johnson's website. I don't have that album and I just noticed that Eric had made a version of The Beatles' "Paperback Writer". I've always wanted to rearrange that song with a little more modern sounds and just a bit more tempo -> now that would be ROCK!!!

Joe! Why don't you do that? You would be worth it (to be pronounced by the voice of Garth from "Wayne's World")

...Just wait... I'll be editing this for a little while...

...okay, well at least I tried!

What did I try? I tried to draw you a picture of me that would have been explained my nickname. Noppa means dice. You know the cubic thing that you throw in a casino and lose all your money. Well I don't gamble, but I look like one because of my hairstyle.

mullet - 0 flat top - 6

Btw how do you people see these nordic alphabets (a with double dots) on your screens in States or UK or anywhere else but up here? You can see an example on the left in the name of my hometown. Only curious so that I won't disturb you with them anymore if they're just a mess.

At work. Alone. Listening to Dream Theater's "Awake" -album. Matt Martinez (and all other guitar players): How about that Petrucci's solo on "Voices"?? I think it's in the category of 'one of the best ones ever'! What do you people think?

DoThe Stu: Thanks for the info about the other players in G3-'04-tour and the looks of these: åäö. It'll be interesting to see Billy Sheehan again with Vai (saw them with DLR late 80's).

marimariSRV: So your brother is a KC-135 -pilot. Tell him greetings from the Finnish Air Force (we fly Hornets (F-18)) ...I'm not a pilot though.

okay, back to work. Matt: I'll put "Images and Words" on my cd-player now...yammy!

I was just in sauna, so my ass is probably shinier right now than any of yours...and this beer tastes better than in your mouth... In this kind of grand nationalist moments I love to listen at Ben Granfelt's "Snowking" (you'll find the song under "the experience")...btw did you know that this guy has toured with Deep Purple, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Thin Lizzy and Wishbone Ash!?!
