Hi Joe and hi all...

haven't been on this site for some time lol, but recently I bought a DVD called Joe Satriani, in the Legendary Licks series.... Danny GIll is teaching on it....... Amazingly accurate need I say more, however I find that when I play my guitar along with it, Danny seems to be tuned down an octave, from concert pitch, and I find this annoying.... Ne 1 else have the same problem, cuz I really don't wanna have to tune down my guitar..... is there a way round it lol??

Hey all

Greetings Joe, I dunno if you'll see this message but thanx for your guitar playing......and tuition tips etc.. I got your Live in San francisco DVD, which is cool.... Hope to get to see you live some day.

I am hopefully going to be playing your 'Crush of Love' song, at my local Pub which has an open mike night lol , Plus Steve's 'For the Love of God' lol I suck but have adapted my own improvising to parts which permit it hehe....Also want to learn 'Summer Song'. I will be using an Ibanez (Vai shape oops :/) plus a boss ME 50, for the killer effects lol..... going through a Crate 'Limo series' amp/.....which is easily portable hehe....

regards Sledgers

To Extremist,

Bro I know you asked Joe, but he may not appear for some time so if I can advise you on this one......

It dont matter what strings you use as long as they're electric...... and reasonably light .After all it aint just the strings, but your playing which needs to be good ::)) I think I am using a set of strings with a 9 gauge E 1st which shows how much I know about strings lol..... However whether you use Ernie ball or whatever, it shouldn't make too much difference but I have a set of D'addarios on right now and they do give a Satriani type of sound hahaha.....Talking about Strings, has anyone seen the Steve Vai Live at London's Astoria... if so have you seen his string bending.. he makes it look as if they are broken... Strange lol.....

Hey brother al

on the Crush of Love, The Live in San Francisco DVD is well good, I noticed joe improvises a bit on it and does not do the Harmonic screamy bit which comes before the guitar solo.. like on the EP version.... not to worry but I noticed too from other songs that when he hits that harmonic effect, he actually places his left thumb, by the look of things, right off the neck, near the Pickups... using the whammy bar. I am trying to get this right but am struggling .. any tips at all ?

Hmm there is a harmonic point right at the end of the neck ...Fret 22 I believe.... this makes a nice squeel lol...
