Greetings again,

just adding a contribution lol, ....to my shame, guess what..... ??? I took my Raspberry flavoured Ibanez into a local Heavy Metal Pub to try and impress the pretty barmaid...... and it fell out of its case, crashing onto the wooden floor with its body end, taking a small chunk out of the paintwork. So now I'm after some nail varnish to compensate.....(for the guitar, not the Bar girl).... raspberry flavour preferred plz :)) ...cant look after anything lol........ However Im pleased to say it's been repaired and re-setup so should be collecting it soon.... Yikes !! :/

Greetings all,

hehe how are ya'll ......

Just got me Ibanez back from repair :)) Playing along to JOE's Anthology compilation album . Scuze me but God I'm in a predicament...... I know it's a Vai guitar but bye ek it can't alf soar. (Joe, Steve, both your music is a great breath of 'Fresh Air' in this troubled and sick world we live in.)... lol btw thanks for Mike Keneally also.... I gotta yet purchase his albums, God Willing. Advice plz if possible, I saw an advert for a book called Screaming Fingers, which apparently contains everything you need to know about playing superfast shred metal, and claims that there is some great secret only known by the best in the business.... Ok it may be an incredible book, and it looks considerably thick.. plus you need a visa card or similar in order to purchase it online. I'll tell you where I'm at.....Modes mainly played, Major (Ionian) Minor (Dorean), Phyrygian and Pentatonics, with knowledge of chord construction etc, Blues runs combined with jazz possibly and maybe a bit of country.... As far as speed is concerned, having listened to players like Larry Carlton, ALan Holdsworth, both who I dont ever think I could match in accuracy and speed. Eric Johnson also amazes me with them incredible string skip runs and descending crescendos. Plz I have trouble with descending scales and usually end up having to use pull offs for the descent.... sounds quite good, but I'm missing out on something I know.... I don't want to have to buy this book which also taunts one with the possibility of endless luxury, I e Lambourghini , porshe, beautiful women, fans galore and being the envy of every rock guitarist under the sun. Even says Steve Vai would have a problem keeping up, once these techniques are learnt.... Oh my lol

Hi and Thanks Scrawn,

yeah I think it was sorta tongue in cheek bout Vai not being able to keep up, Lol he probably helped in the making of the book :)) but the Limousine and envy of every rock guitarist was a lil 'OTT' lol

haven't come acroos the Eric Johnson Accoustic Stuff. Only heard tht Spanish sounding track on 'Tones' which is pretty dull....

962. I said that I have only heard one accoustic track by the man, which I thought was pretty dull; and now I think about it' I seem to recall reading an interview in guitarist Magazine where Eric mentions using the piano to figure out chords.on guitar..

Hey grey Fox

yup Santana is also a great influence on my playing. Saw him live at Knebworth England in 1980, along with The Beach boys, Elkie Brooks, Lindisfarne and Mike Oldfield...

Supernatural is a great album but I like especially the earlier stuff like Europa, Samba Pa ti, She's not there etc......Those songs live on lol.....

Not heard much stuff of him with other players...though

regards

Yes Greyfox

sounds like we have similar beliefs, I stopped buying Led Zeppelin Albums, back in 1983 and as a matter of fact, prefer Rolf Harris's version of Stairway to heaven now, it's much better.... Having had some aquaintances in the past who were into paganism and so called 'white witchcraft' (ie Wicker) I found out that the Lady referred to in 'Stairway' is in fact a Pagan Goddess....

Zeppelin were a great band, also saw them Live at Knebworth , in 1979. regards Sledgers

Hey grey Fox

lol Rolf Harris uses a wobble board on Stairway to Heaven, and the song is separated nicely by numerous shouts of 'Altogether now'!! and a few other funny jibes hehe..... Check it out, you must be able to find it somewhere......

And How dare any one insult our Rolf .......hehehehehohohoh :)

Du the Stu

Rolf Harris 's version of 'Stairway to heaven' has no Satanic backtracking messages , and if it has then it was probably made by a Kangaroo on acid lol.....

Rolf for G3 Plz !!!!!!! :)))

Greetings all,

Thanks to Mickey Vai , At last ive found an opening into being able to play the kind of music I have wanted to for ages, even if it is only jamming along to Midi backing tracks. Lol and I was so unaware just how much is out there.

Also after watching Joes TV interview I am encouraged to start looking for ways to collaborate with other musicians over the net....Being a lazy Midi composer myself, I think I need to start work on something quite soon....

You see as a shy individual, I find it almost impossible to find any decent musicians to jam with. Oh yes I get jams lol, but they are usually with the 'Clubhanded' strummers from wherever. Clunk...not another Buddy Holly song.

Plus could anyone tell me please, why when I try to download Real Player (Free Trial Edition) it says I need a credit card, as if I'd agreed to pay for the full version?

Help appreciated :)
