Hey Joe. I am Jon Robert Quinn a professional guitarist from Sacramento. I saw that you will be at Tower Records in Concord, CA on the 13th in April. I wanted to let you know that I have an Instrumental Rock CD that is actually sold there. I know a lot of people will be asking a lot from you, like signing autographs, asking for pictures, wanting to shake hands and so fourth so to make it all worth while, I am going to drop in and personally give you an autographed copy. Just thought that would be nice to kick things off well starting your tour.. :-) I start my U.S. Tour this summer, though you will be in Europe. Good Luck with the new record and see you on the 13th. ---

For all of you that don't know who I am. I had a record called "Solo-Fisticated" come out on January 27th 2004. Its Instrumental Rock/Jazz Guitar. A bit mellower than Satriani but the same idea. You can find it at TowerRecords.com and come on by my site sometime and send me a message. There, you can also sample the record, hear a bunch of unrelease material, see photos, get tour dates and more. http://songramp.com/jonrobertquinn

DelfinoPie, good luck on my movie. Let us know how it turns out.

Mikey Vai, I was talking with a friend years back and he was ranting and ravnig about Vai...He handed me G3 and the first thing I remember saying was, I like the bald guy...lol....from then on, satriani has been my inspiration throughout my career.

SupaaDave, I hear The Crush of Love all the time here in Sacramento, backing up the "Concert Connection" segment on 98 Rock, but not regular air play. I remember when I was in high school there was a time of day we would cut class to sit in the car and listen to the 2 or 3 back to back satriani songs on 98 Rock. My fav song is Summer Song...When I do shows, I like to play that live...its a blast...Or AWYAWM. Best record ever, I would have to say Crystal Planet.

There are some great books from Satriani that teach step by step how to play his stuff...you may wanna check them out...I have a couple of step by step CDs of his as well that slow things down so you actually comprehend each note.

I am glad you liked what you heard. Theres alot of different genres of music on there. I get a lot of projects where I create the arrangements for other musicians. I'm a studio musician mostly, but still love performing and going out on the road. Thanks for coming by.... ---------------- Jon Robert Quinn - http://songramp.com/jonrobertquinn

chrystian2003, Good luck with your music...If you ever need any pointers, let me know.

-----------------------------------

I think EVH in G3 would be the show of the decade...damn awesome.....I would like to see Kirk Hammett and Satch get together again, like from the 80s. Also...what the hell happened to Vernon Reed? You know the guitarist from Living Colour...Satch and Vernon did a magazine cover together about 15 years ago and I still hear Vernon's old stuff from time to time. Nothing new from the band?

Quito, Awesome...Living Colour does kick ass...I will check out that site....I cant wait to hear their new material. --------------------------------------------------------------------- In my eyes, Satriani is the first best thing out there when it comes to guitar...melodically #1. Now as a professional guitarist, I know what it takes to have control, skill, desire and writing ability...and I can honestly say, when it comes to satriani music, I can pick it up and play it lickity split...its not much of a challenge to me anymore...i love when his new material comes out, because I have new material to play around with....Now Vai on the other hand, melodically hes good, not like satriani, but control...if you have ever seen Vai play live....HOLY CRAP....he has control....still to this day, there is only ONE Vai song I can play and that is For the Love of God...He is so damn fast and has so much control of his instrument, its unbelievable....I would say that Satriani is #1 when it comes to his playing ability and Vai is a close second...but what do I know...lol...theyre both good...damn good..and we all love em. ------------------------------------------------------------------ I have to say, this is the best forum to chat I have ever seen. None of those ******* talking about that rap and pop crap out there....This forum know what real musicians and true talent is all about....:) ------------------------------------------------------------------ - Jon Robert Quinn - http://songramp.com/jonrobertquinn

I saw a guy state in the forum that he could play 30 notes per second...now let us clarify this...A lot of you know already, but I will say it again. I am a professional Instrumental Guitarist...and 30 notes per second is fast as all hell...now, just tapping out 30 notes in a second with your pick is one thing.....ready, set, go....TAPTAPTAPTAPTAP...no, thats not what where refering to...look at Vai and Satch...they are up on stage for two hours playing theyre asses off...burning up sets of strings playing our favorite songs and in the middle of the song they go off, as beautiful and fluently as imaginable, pull off 30 notes per second and not just tapping one note...they will play probably 30+ notes in 2 to 3 seconds...On MPHGT (Mistical Potato Head), Satriani will reverse hands and play some of the most incredible guitar playing today...This takes years and years of practice....Take it from me...Satriani has been a professional guitarist longer than I have been alive...Hes a genious...In my eyes, the best guitarist there ever was and to say that "OH I CAN PLAY 30 NOTES PER SECOND....THATS EASY" Just take a look at the art and how difficult this actually is...but how they make it look so easy.....These guys deserve everything they have been given in life....Without our guitars and guitar players...there would be no rocknroll....Take care guys.....I need a little Crystal Planet.... -------------------------------------------- Jon Robert Quinn =- http://songramp.com/jonrobertquinn

Clarky, I know what you mean...Yngwie has never done anything for me for the fact that everything he plays sounds the same...on the other hand, EVH, Satch and Vai are constantly my inspiration...they are true guitar legends.

-------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, satriani is going on 50. I am afraid of the day he decides to put it away. In 10 years hell be 60. Will he be as active in the music industry in 10 years? what about 20? That is going to suck...I wonder if Surfin with the alien will be played slower in 20 years....lol...just kidding... :)

------------------------------------------------------------------- Michelle, I have another name for ya....I'm a professional guitarist. Jon Robert Quinn is really Rob Jones....lol.....How in the hell do you market yourself when your name is Robert Jones? I get those credit card applications from the mall and the card in the picture already has my name on it...lol...OK MAM, JUST CUT THE CARD OFF THE APPLICATION AND SWIPE THAT ONE....WHY CANT YOU DO THAT...ITS GOT MY NAME ON IT...:) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Concerts this month...I seeing Satriani on the 13th and again on the 14th..... ------------------------------------------------------------------- Jon Robert Quinn - http://songramp.com/jonrobertquinn

Zenfish, I know that there are a lot of amatuerish professionals. I try to be as professional as possible. Being a business man, I run my music like a business. Some may not like it and others may envy it. I am happy using my skills where it matters most and best of all, my skills are paying off...Thanks for your input...I appreciate it.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michelle, the meaning behind my stage name is quite simple...Jon is from JONes. Robert is my first name and Quinn is my mothers maiden name...Jon Robert Quinn...Now after deciding my stage name, back in 98, I called my mom and found out that I have a great grandfather named John Robert Quinn....trippy? Just meant to be... ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jazzy Boy, Sorry about your friend man...all of our hearts go out to you and the family... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Clarky, I will check it out....I am open to hear new things....I bought one of his CDs and put it on and everyone sounded the same. All the same licks...fast but repetitve...I like creativity. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Do The Stu, Yes. I know exactly what you mean...I hate when I see a band and they just suck ass live.... I see that youre in folsom. We gotta jam bro...Im in sac...got a studio and as a Stu fan, and me a satriani fan, I think we can come up with some good shit....If you can keep up with Stiu, we're all good....I get a little crazy at times... ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Renzzini, I have some solutions for you...I have wrist problems because of how much I play and consistancy of my playing. Every now and then I take Gluclasamine and Vitamin B6. Both of which are herbal and really help out in healing the joints. My father is a massage therapist and that is what he recommends to me. Hope that helps ya out. Talk to a therapist or a doctor and see what they say. There are also excerises you can do when you arent playing to help your joints...I do recommend giving a massage therapist a call and seeing what they recommend for you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the NEW www.jonrobertquinn.com

Zenfish, I have focussed on marketing via the internet for about 6 years now and I have really been successful. This tour coming in a couple months will really develop a larger listening audience...Also this deal with TowerRecords selling the new CD is helping... ----------------------------------------------- JRQ - www.JonRobertQuinn.com
