Clarky, thanks for the kind words and thoughts

I know there are days when I wish I could be like joe and be in the big time so to speak, but thats ok ,...

as for tone, thats always an issue for me, im still yet to find that set up i really love, .. I love the Ds1 boss pedal, but still find it not quite what im after, so gotta look at some other pedals I think, and still prefer pedals to boards...

anyways thanks again mate, I know the last few months have been rough, gotta get moving on i suppose

now this is cool

Downloads get band into charts January 15, 2007 Ben Camm-Jones

Koopa Koopa has become the first band to enter the UK charts without having a record deal.

The Essex band reached number 31 in the chart with their single Blag, Steal & Borrow on the strength of download sales alone. The band has said on its website that it will be donating the proceeds from the single to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Since 1 January, download sales have counted towards the chart position of a single even if there is no physical verison such as a CD available to buy on the high street.

"Changing the chart rules has completely rejuvenated the charts. Allowing digital sales to count has made the top 40 more of a level playing field for all artists, removing the costs associated with getting a physical single recorded, pressed and distributed. Any band with a healthy fanbase now has a crack at the charts.

"The digital methods that Koopa used... are tools that anybody can use. 2007 is going to be the year of the independent artist," said Ben Drury, managing director of 7digital, a company that claims to have facilitated 95 per cent of downloads of the track.

The band has been together for seven years and though it is not the first to generate a fan base from the internet - Lily Allen and Orson have already done this - Koopa is the first band to enter the charts without having a recording contract or a CD in the shops.

Clarky, when u mean tone, do u mean like an eq thing? or distortion thing , cause usually unless for lead I like to have it fairly mellow distiortion, like on the ds1 its right off if can,

Clarky, that but on the recordings you have that unpleasant "fizz" as youy said, could it be a sound card thing> maybe updating from the basic soundblaster card ? could that help? I do most of my recording between 21:00hrs and 03:00.. so DI straight into the desk is really my only option... so I couldn't really mic a cab even if I wanted to.

thats the same with me too, like its when Im the most vunerable to my emotions and such.. I guess most muso's are like that... ps what guitars are using? my Ibanez is an RG320L and your right, the quest for "THE RIGHT TONE" is something that we as muso's always are searching for.. also , you know how Joe and steve really do make the whammy bar work, are normal guitars like ours able to do that or are Joe's and Steve's customized?

Clarky ,

I just found my sound... THE JSX COMBO UNIT 120WATTS went to the music shop looking at effects units and pedals, and told them what I want in sound, ie satriani type sound they pointed me to the just released amp I was on a different ibanez, not mine, but this amp is a work of art.. Its Joe all over , We were in a small room and i had the main crunch on Fat, and I held a note like joe does, long and and beutiful... freaking awsome ..

CONGRATULATIONS JOE ON A WONDERFUL COMBO AMP.... now I just need to find a good job to buy it... (Crying now..) would probaly need a couple of delay pedals and a wha,(joes one) and chorus and I think Id have my sound... only prob $3,500 ish, i only get $150 per week on a disability pension.. so i went to find an agency to help get some work... man that amp. also Clarky, I talked to the head tech guy, who is also a joe nut.. and told him about my noise in recordings, he is suggesting a mixer that goes directly into the usb, instead of thru the line input of my computer, plus cubase comes with the mixer, that I can get within a few months, guess it woulndt hurt trying different set ups eh?

JOE . with that amp, the combo, its got effects plugs in the back should u just run the guitar straight into that amp, then put your say chorus, delays etc via the effects part in the back?

how do you do it?

would like some advice.. ps its got a line out too, so I should be able to record from that to my desk? also would line outing it cut the speakers?

thanks Clarky / Joe

I love that amp.... :-)

Clarky, u know anything on the boss GT8? if that has cab emulation? and that could solve some of my probs?

I tried out joe'es amp today the jsx combo, man its nice, but so is the price tag, $3500, thats more than what my dad paid for his plasma tv? anywhoo, still gonna keep looking..

ps are there any stand alone pedals that can do cab emulation? __________________________________________________________

cosmic_ape I agree in the lefty choices in the ibanez range, not much

hmm worried about my dad at the moment, he's 83, and loves driving his car, plans on driving to melbourne then to adelaide , to see some old friends and to see some relies that couldnt come to mums funeral in November.. Latley he has been having trouble with double vision in his eyes.. he's going to a specialist next month and if ok he's going on his own. told me he'd rather have me home look after his house n stuff...

I dont wanna force myself on him, I know he wants to be indipendant now with out mum, but this scares me.. and theres no stopping my dad once he gets something in his head... Im scared of loosing him, especially so close from mum.. then Id just have my brother and sister who live up in sydney , 3 hrs or so away .... scared shitless (sorry guys,) wish I could clone myself..........

To my mum hope you can read this in heaven...

Mum, you were the one that brought me into this world. the one who loved me no matter what I did, for good or bad.. you were the one who I could laugh with or cry with if I was sad. you had the heart of an angel and the love that would last forever. Watching you slowely change to a totally different person was the hardest thing I had ever had to go thru , unitil that day I said good bye to you for the last time. I held you in my arms and said for you to go, that It was ok, then you were gone.. Sometimes I still see you there , with that glazed look in your eyes, the last breath. Mum I miss you so much, you'll never know, just hope you can surf the net up there and see that I still have love for you. And Dad and I talk about you alot, he misses you too,

Id give anything , absolutley anything just to have you home again., just so dad would be happy again too...

Mum, Im trying to slowley move on, but its very very difficult.. just so u know....

Joe, Hope you dont mind me writting this letter to my mum.. I miss her so much...
