Steven - I've been meaning to ask you where on the island you are. My dad used to live on South Shore and Grand. He loved takin' walks on the beach in the morning. I almost moved in with my aunt back in the day. That would have been cool. She lives on one of the canals not far from Grand. But, I got a dog instead. Anyway just wondering.

Tiffany - Having been there myself, you just have to not listen to them. As a parent (I'm 37 w/ 2 girls) you want to see your children happy. It took my dad almost 20 years of me playing the guitar to finally realise that I really enjoyed it and he started to back me. It sounds like you're younger so my suggestion is to keep up your grades and not let practicing interfere w/ your duties as a member of the family. If you're a good kid and take care of your biz they can't get on you about playing. Good luck and practice, practic,e practice.

THE SEARCH IS OVER!!!!!

We have finally found a bass player. It is going to be soooo good to be able to go forward. It only took 3 months. I keep myself together by remembering my cousin's band Striktnyne took a year to find the drummer. Any hoo, as things get recorded I'll try to post some stuff. Night all.

[DCK Those would be fun to play and very nice to look at!!

ALL I Emailed the webmaster for Gary Moore's site and asked him to find out if Gary had any interest in doing the G3 tour. I figured it doesn't hurt to ask. He wrote me right back and said he would talk to Gary and find out. Hopefully he's not blowin smoke up my ass. The other thing I thought was that we could send messages to the different players that WE would like to see and get them ( bother them ) into talking to Joe. It may not work, but if it does, we would definately see a great show.

Just a thought

962 My Thought was more on the line of, maybe if Joe knew who we liked and that the person was interested, it could make the whole situation better. Basically just trying tro open the lines of communication.

j blaze I totally agree with your format post. I would like to be more active on some other sites but it's just sooo much work to stay up with all the topics. Plus, Here you might see something that you would not have seen on another site. This is much better.

climber I have heard the same thing down here. It wasn't at a music store it was just in conversation. I do know that Joe blew a tube at the in store here on an amp that was brand new. I don't know if the two are related but..... I see your from Bremerton. I love it up there. My wife has family in Port Ludlow and in Poulsbo. Your a lucky guy. Beautiful part of the country.

atomicpanda - Yes it is possible. I have a locking nut on my strat. I did have it done for me though. Works great.

PhryDom - Thanks for the Zappa Radio Post. It will be a great backdrop for my engineering class studies.

Michelle - Thought about you yesterday when my 5 yr old walked through a spider web and this big chuncky spider hanging off the end of it's web as she spun around screaming bloody murder. Took me about 10 minutes to get her calmed down. Of course it didin't help that I was trying not to laugh. The joys of parenting.

I hate moving - We moved to a bigger place this weekend. Nice large lot for the kids to play and NO STAIRS. WOO HOOO I also start back at school today. Time to turn the brain back on. Off to study.

Late.

Yoda - I feel your pain on looking for singers. You want first, of course, someone that can sing. That is hard enough. Top that off with frontman/woman ego antics, coulpled with the "artist" mentality (lack of focus, preparation, and punctuallity) and it's just a major pain in the ass. I don't know how many people we aaagghhditioned this summer but it was brutal. Good luck to ya'. I'll be waiting to hear the title of your new instrumental recording.

I've been slammed with work, school, rehearsal, kids..... so to everyone who had a b-day "Happy B-day. To all the Newbies, welcome in. To all the Vets, "Wassup."

Michelle - Saw the post about your leg. Bummer. I ripped my calf up last year playing hoop. It was my first real sports injury (not counting twisted ankles and jammed fingers). Getting old SUCKS. It seems that some things are getting harder and harder to do, like get up after sitting on the floor for a while. I just don't do that anymore. Only chairs for me. I might need one of those chairs that tilt and lift you up to a standing position soon. LOL Anyway take care and hope you feel better soon.

JS_JS - How's classes. I haven't seen you complaining about homework lately. I'm freakin buried.

CLarky - Alcatrazz!! Man I haven't heard that name in a while. Couple of funny related stories. A group of us actually did "Island in Sun" for our senior show in high school. I was doing the singing and got wicked sick right before the show. I still have video of it, what a disaster. trying to sing all stuffed up was not one of my better moments. I also saw them on tour. They opened for Queensryche and Dio, I think. Anyway this was right after Malm had left. They had this other gutarist. I was really bummed not getting to see Malm and the new player sucked. I don't know what I was smokin (yea, I do) but it must have been good cause you KNOW who was on guitar. VAI !! It was not long after that I got Flex-ible and couldn't believe it was the same guy. Just watched the Astoria dvd yesterday. Man he inspires me.

Doin' a speech tomorrow on the influence of Satch Vai, and Malmsteen on my playing. Should turn out cool. Malmsteen for the speed, Satch for the feeling and Vai for opening my ears a bit more. Only has to be 5 Min long. Should be a cake. I can talk about those three for hours.

The band has an audition in Feb for a summer festival. Should be cool 3000-4000 people normally. Lots of practice till then. 40 songs and adding. Off to write my speech.

Clarky I would have to go with mikesb on this one. Rising Force was the beginning of it all for me. THAT album made me practice. At that time I was playing a lot of different instruments from strings to horns. This made me settle on the guitar for sure. I was in my room a triad sweeping fool. My parents were so tired of songs in minor modes! It was a very raw version of Malm.

Thanks

Hey Everyone. Back from Mexico. It was a very rewarding trip. I felt like I did a little good down there. It was interesting, I met a doctor from the town I went to, Oaxaca, and he does volunteer work with the farm workers here in Oregon! It was very ironic that the two of us were doing very similar things in each others countries because each country is too fucked up to take care of their own.

If any of you are planning to take a vacation. I would recommend going to Oaxaca. There are many interesting things to do, lots to see and the weather is good.

Well off to study. Nothing like two mid terms the day you get back from another country.

Late.

Holy Crap finnaly caught up. You people are prolific sometimes. Back to biz.

The music posts on this site continue to impress. I know I'll leave off some one that I have listened to so a communal congrats to all of you that have let us into your heads through your music in the last few weeks. You know who you are.

Michelle - My God girl!! Reading is worse then the big cities on the west coast. Granted I live in Portland, OR where life, for the most part, is mellow. For a metropolitain area of this size we don't have a very high crime rate, people still hold doors open for you and you rarely hear a horn blare. PA sounds crazy. I have some friends that live in Pitt(or suburbs there of) and they don't even tell stories like that. The people in Reading must still be pissed off at being the railroad on the cheap side of the Monopoly board. And what's the deal with the Ho Ho Hut?

NASCAR Sucks. I concur whole heartedly.

Four more years of Conservitve Christian Hell!! It is not so much the four years. at least there are some checks and balances built in. My BIG concern is the supreme court. That is where the country is really going to get screwed!! Two, possibly three LIFETIME appointments. I expect to see an outlaw on gay marriage and the overturn of Roe vs Wade any day now.

Guitarnut - While I understand you point, the beauty of this site is that we all get together with different view and ,for the most part, are able to discus them. The other thing I really like is that all these thing happen on ONE board. That is the best. I would like to paricipate on some other sites but you practically have to research the site just to participate. Here if you don't want to read one of Cuthberts posts (he does make some good points even though I disagree with him most times) the scroll bar is on the right. I think the Joe appreciates that we are normal people with normal lives, not just a bunch of music geeks that never leave their rooms. Music is about expression. Here we express ourselves with music as a bond.

MORE on the election. The whole "War on Terrorism" thing I think is a crock. It is an excuse to rally support for another agenda. The fact that we are in Iraq has nothing to do with terrorism. It has to do with the fact that Big Geo. told Chimp Geo. to "Get that SOB." Also, it has to do with OIL. The economy of the US is based on the movement of goods. We have a very large country, in area, and to be able to move things around. If there was no oil flowing into the country our economy as we know it would collapse. Maybe I have a transportation bias (can't imagine why) but the influence of the big three along with the subsidies on gasoline that the goverment provides all help harbor a culture that is very auto based. AAGGHHH.

Out of time. Off to math.

EDIT spelling and a "Happy B Day" to DCK!!

Cuthbert - Disagree with you ? In a nice way. You and GGG are a bit too militant, for lack of a better word, for me. I'm not big into guns and hunting and I think that we need goverment. I believe that the goverment needs to ran like a business, where we are the share holders and there is a form of profit sharing. My wife's cousin is an officer in the army. He is a platoon sargent ? Anyway, he was telling me that when he orders supplies for the platoon he is not allowed to but things at a discount. He is obligated to buy the most expensive. The idea is that stimulates the economy. However, the also leads to the government paying high prices because of jackasses that are greedy. I've talked to some people about the streamling of the goverment. The whole thing could be done for a lot less, which would benifit everyone. We just passed an amendment here in Oregon that would mandate the state pay a person for the devaluation of their land due to a zone change. While I feel for the people, buying land is like playing the stock market. Sometimes you win...But most of all where do these people think this money is coming from!! Our taxes. So if we up the state spending, up go taxes or less funding for other thing. I don't get it. Sorry for the lack of thought flow. This was a stream and not a well thought out progression.

On another note I sent that Zero Energy link to one of my Physics profs. I had never heard of this before and some of the concepts were above my knowledge. I'll let you know what his thought are on it.

Jazzzy - When I think of the interior of the country I always think of this commercial for e-business where two farmers are in their trucks and one wants to sell some goods to another county and askes the other farmer "Have you ever been out of the county?" Funny as hell. I used to spend my summers in OK among the rednecks. Not fun. I really wonder what percentage of Americans have never left their county and what percentage of them do not live on the coast. By the way, I have a passport.

Michelle - I have never been East of the Mighty Miss'ppi. I have friends that keep trying to get me to go out there. Just hasn't happened. I am surprised that the crime rate is so high in a town that I would not consider as large. I looked up some stats and compared our two cities.

Population, Size(sq mi) , Med fam. income, unempy. rate
Reading, 83,000, 10 , $27,000, 9.2%
Beaverton, 80,000 , 17 , $60,000 , 3.3%

I think here is the reason for the high crime rate. That and I don't live in a very culturally diverse city either (75% white). I can see why you would want to live somewhere else. Tell your sister "GET OUT NOW!!" How much of this economic depression is caused by the down turn of the railroad system? Was this a town that was very dependent on the railroad for substanance? Just curious.

WebPage - I don't remember who's idea that was but I like it. It may be that it would be easier if we set a web page where people could post thir URLs . I know I have a hard time remembering everone that have a site with tunes on it. Doing it this way would be convenient for both the users and for the person handling the site. What are everyone's thoughts?

Mr Junkpile - Having been in Mexico all last week, Yes you do need a passport. I was asked more than a few times for mine. And I'm Mexican!!

Guitrnutt - Not only do th DVDs contribute more to the experience but they also offer a peek into how things are played. I don't know how many times I've watched a DVD and said "AAHH that how he does that."

Late Peeps

Cuthbert - I agree in the ability to do things as long as they don't hurt others. Un fourtunately, what hurts people is open to interpretation.

As for guns. I believe there a big difference between those that own rifles and those that own hand guns. I have many friend that hunt. I'm actually a damn good shot. Although I think shooting something from 400 yrd away is not hunting, but killing. I believe in the sport of hunting in which the animal has a chance. Use a bow or a knife if you are muy macho.

I am a firm believer in zoning. I believe that there needs to be more mixed use, but I don't want some guy to be able start up a junk yard next to my house.

For the military, that's crazy part. It is their money. It's all of our money. I'm not a Socialist but the fact that Gov't should work for the people to benifit the people is how I look at things. The Greed is what destroys things.

Cuth bert No I anm definately not a veg-head. I'm just a softy that likes to get his meet at the store. I'd be more than happy to help you devour an elk (my favorite) I just couldn't pull the trigger. I just get into arguments with people that say they hunt for the sport yet don't give the animal a chance. To me the definition of sport is that there is an eveness of the playing field. That is why I said if you (not you personally) are real bad ass you would hunt elk or moose ... with a knife. Makes it a bit more fair.

Zoning was originally put for health reasons. The idea of factories next to a residential area was not good. However, the original planners went too far. Planning now is trying to correct some of these issues. The down side is that planning reactive. So we won't know if the changes we have made are working for many years. Zoning, at least in Oregon, is not arbitrary at all. Of couse we also have some of the strictist land use laws in the country. People complain about Urban Sprawl and long waits in traffic. This is the effect of weak land use laws. Ther eis also the protection of our farm land that comes into play. But we can discuss that later.

hoiguy79 The webmaster does a great job with this site and from wha I can gather is a pretty nice guy. With pics it is a better use of his time to load a bunch at once. So be patient. Plus calling someone names that you want to do you a favor is not the best method to get things done. We don't pay him for his service so we don't have the right to put him on our schedule. I was also in Oaxaca last week. What was that smell? : )

962 - Hey man don't lump us in with the Rednecks in Ohio and Oklahoma. We are a coastal state that didn't vote for Bush. : )

hoiguy79 - If you were to call me Gringo than people would look at you funny. My Grandfather was born and raised in Torreon. My Grandmother in D.F. My other grandparents in Ponce, Puerto Rico. I'm about as Brown as they come. And the smell I was referring to was the sewer smell you got around the Zocolo. That and the lack of plumbing were I was installing latrinas while I was down there working in the tin shack cities. Don't go with an emotional reaction. Try to find out who you're talking to. I've never met a white man with the name Dorado.

Cuthbert - Thanks for having my back. If someone is going out into the woods to feed his or her family. That's cool. I understand that and have NO problems. It's the sport guys that want a trophy. That is killing for no other reason than pride. I would hunt if I could. But I just can't pull the trigger. If I was starving or my family was, I think that my mind set would be different. But we're not , so I got to the store.

Land use is a very interesting subject and that is one reason why I am studying it along with transportation. They go hand ion hand with each other and effect our everyday lives. Here we have an Uban Growth Boundry. It is part of the state law. Here is a link to Oregon's 19 State wide planning goals. Check it out and give me your thoughts. 19 State wide planning goals

Yoda - Hey Neil long time. How's Liffie Land. I sounds like you're not into the Friday Night in San Fransisco. Granted there is not a whole lot of sustained emotional notes on that record., but man I love it. I have spent hours with it. Those three can definately burn up the frteboard. And to think that it is all on an acoustic. WOW!! In fact I was in Mexico a couple weeks ago. A band was setting up and they were playing Mediterranean Sundance from that album. It was awsesome.

The prospect of becoming an adult with a job and total self responsibility is damn scary. Wait till you have a kid and realise (note the 's' for you) that you are responsible for the creation of a person, their views and biases. That was one that got me. Enjoy this year and I'm sure the transition will be fine. It's not as hard as you think.
