962 - On the pickup discussion I have a RG 560 with a Fred-bridge and ProTrac-neck. Then the S470 with Tone zone -bridge and an Air Norton in the neck. Compared to my RG the S is way thin sounding. I have to have another bank of presetes for it just to take a bit of the harshness out. I do find it a little harder to catch the pick harmonics but feel that nay be more hand position than the guitar. I do find a bit of an adjust needs to be made mentally when I go from the 24 fret to the 22. Just that little but throws off my hand position. But were talking pickups. So I'm not sure if the thinnes is the guitar or the pickups. I haven't taking the S in for set up yet (Ionly got it in Feb) so things may change when it is set up properly. I have a bit of a humming problem too so ... maybe the PUs aren't wired right. Well along post to really say nothin.

962 - The thinness surprised me too. There should be enough mahogany to give more fullness even with the thin body. I'l report back once I get it back from the tech.

Waterproof - Yae I would have to agree on the Black Star. I haven't heard that song in a long time but all the phrasing was right on and all the overlayed parts were there too. If it is him therre was a lot of production time.

Pink Tornado - Being as I get the same comments about my playing "but can you play the blues?" whether he can or not doesn't really bother me. I like players that have exceptional technique coupled with good composition. THAT combo is hard to find. BTW I might not be Albert Collins, but I do know my way around the bebop scales.

Satriella - I have two kids of my own. Lucky for me they are only 8 and 6. But it sounds to me like you need to remind them who pays the bills. $$ = Power lol

Howdy folks!! I have a question for ya'll. If you were going to audition for a band and they made the effort to give you a CD with songs to learn and contact #s for questions and to talk to the other guitarist about what parts to learn, WOULDN'T YOU CALL AND THEN LEARN THE FUCKIN MATERIAL!! I am so sick of coming to auditions a hearing people say that they just going to "wing it. " It's depressing as hell. I really like the things that can be done with 2 guitars, but if this keeps up I'll be the lone guitarist come summertime. This crap upsets me to no end. So, we are still looking for guitarist #2. Thanks for letting me vent. On the flip side, I haven't been able to go to Fluid Mechanics class for 2 weeks because of family stuff, but was able to do the HW this weekend in about an hour. That was sooo cool. Anyway here's to haveing a good Turkey day.

Steve T - I knew there was a reason I hated music radio. I do miss listening to the Jim Rome show (sports) but I just don't have the energy or mental space to follow all that now. Maybe after I graduate.

Master Yoda - Listened to the song. Unfortunately I use Mozilla as my browser so the video was just a series of still shots. I like the though song. Cool breaks between sections. If you click on the video before yours it will play your video. So I didn't have to wait. Nice solo. It got cut off a little but what I heard was cool. But now can you make it swing!! LOL Just kidding.Good luck.

Haven't got any snow up here yet. I have a feeling that you in the east are going to get some soon though. 60 degrees!! What the hell, it's not summer anymore. We've been hovering around 40-45 in the daay and below freezing at night. brrrrrrr

Last week of classes. Finals all next week capped off by a drunken stupor!! Wish me luck.

Clarky - You use the 58 for live setups ? You don't find that it is too dark? I normally use the 57 for guitar and the 58 for vocals just because of the extra darkness of the 58. Especially for my voice range, high and squeeky. But I haven't tried the 58 for the cabinet. The other reason I'm surprised you use the 58 is the omni-directionalness (is that a word?). That the 58 doesn't have as focused a response area as the 57. But then hell if it sounds good , fuck it!!

Carky - Yea I don't like singing any more either. I would just rather play my guitar and be done. Unfortunately, I have a fairly good singing voice and can sing in the upper registers. Because of that I get forced to sing more than I would like. Oh well, the singers get the ladies.

As for the chat. The other thing to remember is that some have established relationships and can say things that may not seem appropriate to the uninitiated. Like if I say that DCK likes to eat cheetos while watching gay porn, might to some seem like I'm bashing him when I'm just telling the truth. It's all fun and games. Smile and be happy.

Satriella - Andy Timmons, Greg Howe, Joe Walsh (How did he become a god to the guitar gods?) and Yngwie Malmsteen

Going down the list Andy is just a great player. Used to be the guitarist for Danger Danger. Lots of chops.

Greg Howe was one of the early Varney shredders on Shrapnel. He has more of a jazz fusion thing now but is all shred.

Yngwie is the guy that started all the neo-classical stuff. I remember clear as day the first time I heard him. I though " Oh shit, I need to practice!"

Actually, I guess that is true of all these guys and I would have to say that of Joe and Steve ... People that inspire to sit down and litererally (sp?) play the skin off your finger tips are the ones that become the guitar gods.

As for Joe Walsh, I had never put him in the "god" catagory although he IS a great songwriter. But that is a different animal all together.
