Watched the Chickenfoot DVD last night. The album comes across MUCH better live. I have the CD in the "good background music for a BBQ" category being that it has some good tunes and is generally non-offensive. But the DVD really made the songs come alive. A lot more energy which, incidentally, is one thing I miss from Joe's current CD. It just kida sits but never really gets my blood flowin. Hoping the same thing happens for Wormhole and the concert has some ooomph to it.

Cheese - Good luck to you and Cheese Lite. That a big step forward. Must mean he's doing well.

Kayla - If you can get a pic I'm sure one of us could help you.

On a personal note, sold my Yamaha T-50c (Soldano SLO clone) and will be picking up a Mesa Boogie DC-10. 100 Watts of pure Mesa goodness. Sunday rehearsal is not going to be here fast enough!

New Amp Day was pretty good. Got to play through the Mesa DC-10. The tone was badass!! Only downside was there is a bad tube some and the guy selling it wanted to make sure that it was only a tube and not something else so I didn't get to bring it home yet. But it's going to the tech today and if it's just a tube than I'll have it after lunch. Can't wait to crank it up at rehearsal on Sunday.

Oh and i need to trade out my Laney 212 8Ohm cab for a 212 16Ohm cab. So if anyone in Portland, OR or Seattle has one one they want to swap drop me a note.

Love all the recent earplug talk. I just got fit for a pair of these

Earplugs

Should have done this years ago. But I noticed a definite increase in the ringing after the Dream Theater show this summer. So better late then never I guess.

One week till Joe in Stumptown!

Kayla - Joe is great to meet because he is actually a nice guy. Not one of those people you look up to, then meet, and turns out they are an A-hole.

Earth to Ashes just hit 100 likes on Facebook. Are you on the list? if not: Earth to Ashes

Suck A$$ about the Chromie being stolen. But keep the faith. Those are a rare, hopefully it will turn up soon. Took a year and a half for mine to come back.

Stumptown is a nickname for Portland, OR

Stumptown was coined in a period of phenomenal growth in Portland after 1847. The city was growing so rapidly that the stumps of trees cut down to make way for roads were left until manpower could be spared to remove them. In some areas, the stumps remained for so long that locals whitewashed the stumps to make them more visible, and used them to cross the street without sinking into the mud.[15][16] Captain John C. Ainsworth commented that there were "more stumps than trees" in Portland in the early 1850s

Sad news, the world of rock has lost another. I have a lot of great memories seeing these guys play all around The Bay. RIP Phil.

Phil Kennmore dies at 57 http://meniketti.com/

Man this stinks. Y&T was huge here on the west coast and I went through HS listening to them nearly everyday. I was so excited when they rereleased their albums on CD cause my vinyl was wearing out. If you haven't checked them out before do yourself and favor and do so now. Dave still has a great voice and plays some of the sweetest leads.

Portland show was great. Joe played well and the new bass player was fun to watch. He was having a great time. On the other hand Galen might as well have been on the bus. Dude looked like someone made him play. So I tried not to look his direction. Yes the floor at th Roseland is always a bit loud. We were up in the balcony for the first time and really liked it up there. Got to hang with Fireman Ken. Very good date night for the wife and me.

Mahavishnu - Nothin personal against Galen I would have called out any of them. There are always good and bad night but I as a performer part of your job is to perform and he just wasn't pullin his weight. Still enjoyed the show though!

There are so many great G3 choices, Buckethead, Andy Timmons, Pablo again (haven't got to see him yet), Andy Wood, Ron Thal (Bumblefoot), Guthrie... man I could go on for a while. Don't really care who as long as they come to Portland.

woodman300 - I would have to disagree on your point one. I am a fan of Joe's music and have been for MANY years. There are A LOT of songs I don't know the name of. Mainly because I tend to listen to artists on my Pod and in random order so that I hear all the songs fairly equally. There are tunes I'm not even sure what album they are off of. Less of a fan. I think not.

And for those of you in the Portland, Or area only four day till we pop our cherry at the Tonic Lounge. For a quick clip check the promo below on our Reverb Nation page. See th clip check the pics listen to some tunes. See you Friday!

My band had its debut performance last month. It went REALLY well. We were well received and were asked by the club owner to return this month. So, we are playing The Tonic Lounge in Portland, Oregon March 18. Show starts at 9PM and we are in the middle slot of 3 bands.

Also, I am in the studio tonight and Friday to finish up solos and vocals on the 3 song demo. Link to video of us in the studio complete with me fumbling over the solo in Doomsday Girl.

Lastly, we are also playing the Portland Live Loud n Local show (April 29, 30 and May 1st). That's 3 days of hard rock and metal with the Friday show featuring 4 female fronted metal bands as part of the Hell Hath No Fury Tour. Gonna be a great show!! Check the website, FB, or Reverb Nation for details and tix.

Well we found out the line up for the 4-day Live Loud n Local music festival we are playing at the end of April. We are playing the first day with all local groups. Bummed we don't get to play with the big bands (In This Moment, Sister Sin, and Straight Line Stitch) But since it will be only our 4th gig I'm pretty happy. If any of the peeps in or around Portland need tix let me know. 4 days of bands for 12 bucks is a great price. BTW Happy belated Cheese.

Putting together a little mini tour to include Las Vegas, LA and SF Portland and Seattle. Need some help from the LA peeps on a good place and maybe one other band. You can check our stuff at Earth to Ashes and the band we are looking to play with Lonero. Any help would be great. Looks like we are targeting the end of June or the end of Aug.

Thanks,

Civ

So the Live Loud n Local show here in Portland was great. My band (Earth to Ashes) played well opening night and then got to see some great local acts as well as the Hell Hath No Fury tour which includes In This Moment, Straight Line Stitch, System Divide, and Sister Sin. Got to hang with some of the peeps from Sister Sin and System Divide. They were both really cool. I would recommend checking to see if there is a Live Loud n Local show coming to your town and get your ticket. It's a great way to see and support your local music scene. I know there is one in Phoenix on May 14th. Also, Seattle and Spokane in September. We are hoping to get on the Seattle and maybe even the Spokane one. See ya'll soon.

@ Michelle - How'd you get turned on to LoNero? They are friends of mine. Went to college with the bass player. They are great guys and really good musicians. We are hoping to do some shows with them soon.
