@ danmercer214 - This was the problem I had with the other Peavey's I played. Could not get enough mid range to make the tone pop. Always found the tone fizzy and thin. Good luck.

Hey everyone we did an interview with Sonic Shock magazine out of the UK. If you have a few minutes you can check it out HERE

And as always you can check the band at www.earthtoashes.com

Hey peeps if you could do me a favor and vote for us to open for REO Speedwagon that would be awesome. It appears that you can vote a few times then it locks you out for a bit before you can vote again. Vote as many times as you can. Thanks!

@ Michelle - If Mark hadn't spoke up for Orlando I would have been a bit suspect. that vid looked weird and there was no Marchblank Noob Clock. LOL Gonna be interesting to hear the new stuff though no matter what.

E2A played this past Sat and we got some real good audio (16 tracks) and video (10 cameras). Those should be ready in about a month. Till then ... Horns up! \m/

poppin back in to check on the peeps. With all the band sites I have to manage I don't get here too often.

Cheese I hear ya on the Google + I've gotten a few invites. One person even got mad at me for NOT accepting. And that was after I told them I just can't add another site.

For those of you in the PDX area we will be playing the Ash Street Saloon as part of the Rockfest Top 10. Out of 40 bands we came in 7th. Be cool to see some T2L peeps out there.

Have a great day Civ

Two Shay - The proper finger pressure is a hard one to learn. You only want to press hard enough to make the string ring. The other thing I find beginners doing is tipping the bottom of the guitar away from the body in order to see the fret board. While you are playing be aware of the bottom of the guitar and keep it close in. That will help keep your fingers off the other strings. Once you get the muscle memory of the shapes, try playing in the dark or with your eyes closed. I used to do that just for muscle memory.

He's our new video Aztec Spell Hope you guys like it. Also for any of you in the Tacoma area we are opening for Pat Travers on 9/30.

Michelle - Voted :)

This Sunday for the Portland area people We (Earth to Ashes will be at Dante's with Witchburn and Micheal Monroe (Hanoi Rocks)

Also, Nice vid of Joe. And about the 19:19 thing I agree. there are a lot of people out there that try to throw money (gear) at the problem instead of practicing. I have always considered myself a mediocre gtr player. Based on listening to Joe, Pablo, Petrucci, insert awesome player. But when I was auditioning for a 2nd gtr I realized there are a lot of hacks out there. And maybe I don't suck as much as I thought. Joe is freaking awesome and really has no public responsibility to be uplifting. In the grand scheme of things he is still just a guy the plays gtr.

Thanks Two Shay. We always have fun whether or not people are there. We just like playing. These two should be pretty well attended though. And that does make it a bit more fun.

Been listening to Blues Sareceno lately. Damn I wish he would play live or at least make another CD.

Two Shay - Thanks man. I know most of what I post in here now is promotion and I hope it is sparingly enough not to upset the "stream of consciousness."

Really need to spend more time with my gtr.

JemJVM - I had the XXX for a while. No matter what I did I could not get that thing to cut through in a band situation. There are no mid. The 5150/6505 I think are a bit better but I haven't played them. Plus I tend to lean toward the Mesa tone. Always seems a bit fatter to me.

Woo hoo! Scored me a Mesa Boggie Mark IV this week. Man that thing has such a smooth tone to it. Got the combo so I will probably just rack the head with my effects so it's all together in one place. We go in to record Sat. Can't wait to get that amp recorded. Tone for days!!

Guitarman77897 - Signal based effects up front (Wah, OD...) Time based effects in the loop (delay, reverb, chorus, phaser, flanger, envelope filters). That's the "normal" way however do some experimenting. My set up is GTR -> WAH -> Mesa MKIV -> FX out -> Digitech 2120 -> FX in -> Cab so all my effects except the wah are in the loop.

Here's the first song off our EP.

Fear Cage

It was recorded and mastered at Opal Studio in Portland, OR. This track has the GMP and the MkIV. My gtr is the left track and I have the solo.

I'm sure the term "model" is being used loosely.

Bummed I missed the T2J gang in Portland. Hope y'all had a great time and hopefully I will make it to the next gathering.

Shravan - First I am also an Engineer and unless you are going into academics I wouldn't recommend spending the time on a PhD. An MS or MBA would be very beneficial though. Second. You are in a great place with access to the internet. It is such a great resource that we older folk did not have. There are tons of tutorials from many artists including Joe. If you have questions ask here or on other forums like the Petrucci forum. Third, always go with your heart. If music is your passion you cannot suppress it or life will drive you crazy. I know! Best of luck and study hard. Engineering is a lot of work but always find time to touch the guitar as it will center your mind.

Yes I have Michell. And we've had some good discussions about it. General consensus is that it BULLSHIT! End of story. If you rush the stage you are risking injury. I think it's a money issue.

Hey Everyone,

Doing my normal pop in and read through 20 pages of posts. I hope all on the east coast are doing well. I saw Matt King was getting back to some type of normal. Good to hear.

On the personal front Earth to Ashes has been pretty busy. We opened for Michael Schenker on Nov 3rd. What a joy. The band played great and MS looked like he was having a great time. More animated than I'd seen him in years.

We have 4 more shows this year then next Feb we are opening up for Doro Pesch and Sister Sin. Really looking forward to that show.

Lastly, I'm pretty happy to announce that I have been picked up by Morley as an endorsed artist. It's pretty exciting. That's me in the bottom right hand corner.

Hope everyone is doing well and for those of you in the US, have a great Turkey Day.
