This is my virgin post. I don't know how to insert someone else's message into my own post. So...

In response to "Should Joe Satriani go back to using his trusty old Marshall amps to produce a more crystal clear tone, or go back to his signature amp. I think his new amp has a good tone, but a peavy does not beat a marshall IMHO."

I was at the clinic that Joe did in Porland OR. The new amp sounded great... until he blew a tube! The tone was juicy. And the other thing is that it was all the amp. The only pedals he had were the wah, chorus, octaver, and a delay. I think that's it. The missing piece? The Boss distortion. It may be that I have a soft spot for Peavey, being as I play through one (Twin 12 chorus), but the amp sounded good and seemed a bit more versital than the Marshall also. And oh yea, it looks cooler!

Has anyone had any experience with the Buzz Feiten tuning system. I'm thinking of having it done to my ax but I'm a bit tenetive. Any input would be great.

You know, I'm looking at the picture of the JSX in the catalog and there is no mention of an effets loop and also there are no inputs (on the front) for one. If I understood Joe right everything was going to be accessable through the front. It would seem weird not to have one but...

Still interested in that Buzz Feiten intonation. I heard Joe and Vai both use it. Any comments?

G3 - At the clinic someome asked Joe if there was a book coming out and he said as soon as he had time. So hang in there!

JaySacks - No problem. Iagree w/ BrotherAl it would be strange if there wasn't a loop. Also if you're ever up in P-town Shoot me a mail. I'm at PSU studying Civil Engineering so I'm at downtown a lot.

Tastey - Bird puke sucks ass. But, if it's good luck, you're the luckest person I've never met . If that was me, that bird may have ended up on the BBQ.

Just got back from rehersal and we just added Big Bad Moon so I'm off to practice. Late.

AAAGH!! Just sat down at my computer at school. Finals are looming dark on the horinzon.

Do The Stu- Congrats on being on semesters and getting that early break. We quarterlings have trhee more weeeks. Whatcha studin'?

JS_JS - Iwould have to say that as soon as you limit yourself to listening to one type of music your not only going to stagnant yourself as a musician but as a person also. A person is nothing more than a sum of their experiences. So don't become narrow minded. It's like eating nothing but cornflakes every meal. Jacked up!

Jay Sacks- How's Robbie as a teacher? I heaer his name all the time on 89.1 KMHD. Can You even get that down there? If you can't get it on radio than try them on line on Friday nights 4pm - 2am. It's all blues. I like the show from 4-6pm the best. More modern electric blues.

Off to Engineering Econ. The Horror!!!

TRUTINA - That post was classic. I work in a transportation research lab on a campus that does not have a fire wall. We get blasted by spam constantly!!!! Thanks for post.

JAY SACKS - I said to shoot me a mail when you're up but failed to post my address. My Bad. civgeek@yahoo.com

LINKIN CRAP - You live on a beautiful island in the Med. Enjoy the surronding my man. However I understand about being left out. Portland Oregon is between Seattle and San Francisco. We get skipped over all the time.

THOMAS ENGLISH - To reley some advice I got from an old jazz instructor. Sing your parts ALL the time. this does three things: makes your hands and you brain work together and become familiar with each other, helps you develop relative pitch, and helps you to associate pitches and patters on the fretboard. This will allow you to think on your feet better so that when you jamming you can thinkf a line and you hands will know where to go. Hope that helps

DO THE STU - That paper sounds BRUTAL!!! But then you like to write so... I'm a Civil Engineering student at Portland State, hence the name CIVGEEK. I had acually looked at LBS 10 years ago when I was sans kids and still a music major. Enjoy the summer and good luck with the Bettys. Do you surf at all? I miss surfing. I have got into snowboarding though and they are kinda the same. Temperature excluded.

GREYFOX - That sounds strange. I have an RG560 an I have yanked the bujesus out of that trem for 15 years ( it's still my main ax) and never had a problem. Sounds like a tech question. Good luck!

JS JS - Going to bed ?! The night is young!! What are you studying?

JOEMAN - Out so soon? Damn, we don't get out until June 12. No wonder all the internships are gone.

JAY SAKS - Sounds good, I look forward to the mail. I've been on stage most of my life and still get the jitters. But there is no feeling like being appreciated for your effort by applause.

DO THE STU - No surfin' a brah? Ithought maybe you grew up in SoCal. Folsom has actually come up in some my classes. I guess they closed the road that goes by the lake and this was a major thru road so the traffic implifications were major (cvlil w/ an emphasis on transportation).

I'm not a big computer game guy and I've only tried Sim City once. The planners that I work with use that more. I do get to play w/ this really cool traffic modeling software though. The lic. is like $20,000. I can't believe they let an ex-carpenter play with this thing. I turn into such a geek when I use it. What is Civilization?

DREAM BOX,REMCO,ANGWHY,4STRUNG,SHURA - Welcome in !!

MICHELLE - My favorite band and my favorite artist. That is Powerslave.

MASTER YODA - A Friday Night is SF. That disc is AWESOME!! My cousin turned me on to that so long ago I have it on Vinyl. Those licks are brutal on an electric and they are on acoustics. Mind blowing stuff.

DO THE STU - Civilization sound cool! It's like grand theft auto for engineers.

Name that tune

Love is a razor

And I walked the line on that silver blade/ Slept in the dust with his daughter/ Her eyes red with the slaughter of innocense/ And I will pray for her/ I will call her name out loud/ I would bleed for her/ If I could only see her now

"Title"Balancing on the ledge

"Title" lives on and on

Circle of fire my baptism of joy/ And an end it seems/ The seventh lamb slain/ The book of opens before me/

And I will pray for you/ Some day I will return/ Don't you cry for me/ Beyond is where I learn

FALCONE46 - My answer to this question is D, all the above. I've worked and played, played only... To me it comes down to doing whatever it takes to get what you want. Like when my wife and I decided it was time for me to go back to school we sold our house (4bd 1800 sq/ft with big yard for kids), put a bunch in storage and moved into a( two bd 1100 sq/ft, no yard for kids) condo. So do what you can and just keep your eye on the prize.

962 - I remember Blues and his green/black/blue plaid Yamaha. I heard he has some new stuff out. What brought him up in your mind?

JONPRINCE - Your paper sounds very cool!! I would be interested in reading it. If you feel up to it, send me a copy civgeek@yahoo.com

JS_JS - Sleeping would be so cool! I have a mid-term tomorrow that I'm totally unprepared for. In addition to my home work due tomorrow that I haven't started. Can you say SOLUTION MANUAL? I know it sounds like I'm a slacker but put 20 hrs a week doing research, wife, kids and a paper that is worth 3 Gs to my college fund. Bottom line I sleep in my afternoon classes!!! Does your sister got to Geo Fox? Olympic Pen. huh.? I love it up there. My wife has family in Port Ludlow. Speaking of rain, I was in Seattle this past Sat. and man did it rain. Of course we were walking to the hotel from the train station and got soaked. It doesn't rain that hard here. I'm originally from Cali and I have seen some big drops. What Math classes are you taking?

CORUCO - Play the pick hormonic then use your left hand to manipulate the trem. If you're unsure of the where abouts of the harmonic think of the fretboard and the harmonics at the third and fith fret. Then invert that so you think of the bridge as the nut and the harmonics are in the same place. Hope that helps JS_JS It's all math length =( (node)(wave length) / 2

DO THE STU - I'm not working on that particular project... but I'll look into it and see what they are planning to do. There is actually a big transportation geekfest in SAC-towm next month so look out. Socially inept engineers on alchol, THE HORROR!!!! I got an internship with a private firm here in Stumpcity. I'm actually pretty happy since I'm only a sophmoe and haven't taken any of my transportation classes yet. That and I have a big desk WITH A WINDOW!!! I feel like a princess.

THE _OVERLORD - Welcome in and enjoy. There are some intellegent and funny motha' efferes in here.

aL THE RIPPER - A welcome to you also. Ilooks like it going to be a good day on th Emerald Isle. Hey If you know Dublin at all could you goto http://www.ireland.com/weather/cam.htm and tell me where I'm looking every morning? Today the camera is tiped down a bit but normally there in a spire in the back ground. Thanks

ALEXANDRE CAETANO - I dig the posts you have in Portugese. I am aMexican guy that played for 3 years in a Portugese band. we played about 40 weekends a year, festvals weddings, whatever we could. We played some sambas, the dirty dancing Brazillian songs of which I can't remember the name, and may folk tunes. The funny part is I was the singer. I didn't speak a lick of Portugese and had to write out all the word as they sounded. It is by far my favorite language.

Got to go Late

AL THE RIPPER - Is the spire at Trinity College? I also see that there is a statue between the lanes that I hadn't noticed before. Any way thanks for the help. A trip across the pond is slated to be the graduation present/honeymoon when I finally graduate in two years. Considering we'll be married 12 years by then and my wife will have graduated 5 years earlier I'm figuring we're due.

OVATION 1 - I checked out the last link you posted. There are some beautiful pics. Thanks.
