Please note that this isn't the first time that Fripp tours with G3. I'm sure Joe and Steve feel that Mr. Fripp has something valid to add to G3. Just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean it's bad! Fripp's show is awesome in it's own right, and I'm very pleased to see that the 3rd G doesn't HAVE to be a shredder. I would rather listen to 10 hours of Soundscapes, than 10 seconds of a certain scandinavian ego-maniac, whose music has moved ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE the last 20 years.

Greyfox88: as a start, check out Ravi Shankar. There's an awesome performance by him in the movie "Monterey Pop".
Look up the concept of the "Raga", and the scales associated with different times of the day. I'm no expert on the subject of Indian music, but that's a beginning. Others, like Joe :-), might be able to tell you more. You might also want to check out Shakti, John McLaughlin's project with Indian musicians.

Delfino: That's very un-professional of your teachers. I second the notion that you are entitled to file a complaint about this incident. Obviously, your teachers are both closed-minded and unprepared. I once had an experience, in teacher's college, where I was supposed to get feedback on a 20 page paper I did, and the teacher BUTCHERED me in front of the whole class. As it turns out, he hadn't even bothered to read it! He just decided that it was time to cut me down.

Excaliburn: No, no and NO! If someone on stage is not playing what you'd like to hear, you have every right to walk out of the room and come back when that person is finished playing. Booing is rude, tactless and insulting to the person trying to express something to you through his music. Besides, determining if a musician "sucks" is a highly subjective concept. Just because you don't like it, others might, and you are then being rude to those as well.

Master Yoda: I dont know where you can find one thats cheaper, but what a great choice! That's an EVIL amp! You (almost) can't get a clean sound out of it, no matter how hard you try! Do yourself a favor, and get a decent cabinet, right away though. Those HH speakers suck SO hard. Get a nice Marshall cab or something instead. Laney GH100L... Mmmm, wish I had'nt sold mine.

962: Yes, that's how I got a clean sound out of it, after all. :-) I was just telling Yoda that I very much approved of his choice of amp. The GH100L is a great amp IMO, as long as you get a good cab along with it.

Regarding Fripp: "We can't see him, etc", well that's the way he performs! I guess he feels that the music is more important than him. If you watch the new Crimson live dvd, you will see spotlights on everybody EXCEPT Fripp. And yes, he prefers to sit while playing, and he always did. Before Soundscapes, he had a setup called Frippertronics, which consisted of, among other things, 2 reel-to-reel tape machines. At that time he would even perform WITH HIS BACK TO THE AUDIENCE! (Gasp!!!) Get over it guys, it's just the way he is, and he has every right to perform that way. After all, it's all about the MUSIC.

Adrianorb: I wouldn't call it hiding, but yes he stays in the background. He has this enormous rack, and his style involves manipulating the controls continuously on the various processors. That's why some in the audience can't see him.
962: The marshalls are definitely better than the Laney cabs. I've only heard my GH100L (which I was stupid enough to sell a couple of years ago) on Laney and Marshall cabs, and there's a BIG difference!
