Hi everyone!!! I'm Scotty from Seattle, WA. My nickname is a longstanding internet tag derived from my membership on many Led Zeppelin sites.

I've joined this site because of my profound admiration and respect for Joe Satriani and his brilliant music. I will be attending the Sept. 10th show at the White River Amphitheatre and have ordered gold tickets that put us in the first 20 rows. If I was richer, I would have happily shelled out the $250 to get an opportunity to meet Joe, but getting to be close to the stage and watching him perform in person will be fantastic!!

I've been a guitarist since 1973 and began playing clubs at 18 years old. I have played all the great venues in Seattle and many up and down the West Coast, however now I'm limited to recording at home on my digital 16 track.

Recently a friend told me how much a particular Satch song "touched his heart" and mentioned that he would like to get the CD. It was "Always With Me, Always With You." My friend had lost his 3 year old son in a drowning accident about 4 years ago and the song somehow reminds him of his intense love for his departed son. I went down and bought "Surfing" for him and thought that I'd like to have some Satch on CD too so I bought his Anthology CD and soon discovered how little i knew about Joe Satriani. The beautiful melodies and the unique approach to the guitar were MINDBLOWING..... I still haven't recovered!!

My friend that I bought the CD for is coming with me to the show..... it should be a very cool evening!!

Joe, thank you for the great music!!!

Hey Stu! Thanks for the welcome! My favorite Zeppelin song varies from day to day..... today it's "In The light".

Hello, Brennan77....... I already bought San Francisco Live DVD and have been learning that version of AWM,AWY! I agree it's a living breathing work of art that Joe seems to improve on as he lives it!

Hey Ovation!!! My friend, Rob and his family will appreciate your condolences. Rob finds some peace listening to Satch. It's been a long healing/grieving process for them.... Rob tells me again and again that Satch is the greatest guitarist ever, because he can make his guitar "sing" to him!

Flagg, Thanks for the welcome! I'm going to see Mutual Admiration Society today at The Moore theatre in Seattle, featuring John Paul Jones on bass. Yes, I'm a big Zep fan and was happy to see Page as one of Joe's influences (listed on the chat text).

I've started using Ibanez guitars...first I bought a S-370, just because of the value and my sudden need for a whammy bar. I loved it so much that I found a S-540fm J-Custom and after much setup work ....it's very sweet. I guess that the Japanese factory doesn't do any setup. I'm looking at the JS line, but my wife is already freaking out about my guitar collection..... 4 Les Pauls, a Martin D18-V acoustic, A Guild D25 acoustic, a Danelectro DC-59, a Danelectro 6/12 Doubleneck, an Ibanez bass, the two S-series Ibanez guitars and two mandolins. I just can't bring myself to part with any of them!!

Oh well....... I'm very happy to have found this site. You all seem very cool!! Peace!!

Do The Stu....... I saw Page/Plant on both tours in '95 and '98. I have video of both shows.

I've seen JPJ on his "Zooma"tour in '99, got to meet him and he signed my CD....pretty cool. I saw JPJ again this evening with "Mutual Admiration Society"..... the kids from Nickel Creek, the singer from Toad The Wet sprocket and the old Elvis Costello drummer....... Great Show!

Ovation1......... The missus keeps a close eye on me....... although I have snuck microphones and a tube preamp in once...... guitars are kinda hard to sneak in!!

Thanks all for the props on the little guitar collection!!!

Ovation..... yes that's my Danelectro DC59 reissue! It's kinda fun to mess around with.

Civgeek..... The Goldtop and The Cherry Sunburst Pauls are 1972 and 1971 respectively and they are much lighter than the late '70's and '80's versions..... yeah that Black Beauty is a '74, but it's still a tank!!

DoThe Stu.... I haven't heard "Domino" or at least I don't recall it. Darn...

Climber..... I found the J-custom at a little guitar shop in Sumner Wa..... The owner of the store figures that it came over with a military guy (Fort Lewis is not that far away). The store owner hates those hockey-stick headstocks... so I got it pretty cheap. It came just as you see it, but I had to shim the neck, adjust the truss rod, balance the floating bridge, intonate the saddles and set the string height. It plays very sweet now!!

Clarky... thanks, I enjoy your posts.... I've printed out your sweep exercise and intend to utilize it. Being a "dino-rocker" that decided to finally take lessons 5 years ago.... I appreciate education. I took some bluegrass lessons to re-learn how to pick, and theory...well, because college was a long time ago!

Ovation..... I used to turn up my Marshall JCM-800 combo up to "10" and then wail on the Danelectro.... It still didn't distort that much, but had a really full tone. With a slide .......ooooo..... Watch out! LMAO!!!!!

I'm not here to diss on eddie Van Halen......BUT..... listen to his playing before Dave was gone (1984) and then after..... the flame grew dim. The fire that EVH had was inspirational.....thank God for Satch and Steve Vai!!!

I can't wait for Sept. 10th at the White River Amphitheatre .....haven't got my seat numbers yet, but i'm hoping that they are VERY CLOSE!!!! I've got the Gold package.....meeting Joe would .... ummmmmm..... ROCK!!!! :-)

Hey all....I just watched the G3 DVD this evening and Joe's "Starry Night" was a definite highlight. How incredibly beautiful and such a welcome moment amongst the shredding!!! I'm not ranking on the shredding, but G3 is a great way to discover the nuances that separate these 3 great guitarists. I am more a fan of Satch and Vai every day.... when I get a little more brave I'll post my soundclick site, but not yet. There are so many good guitarists on this site!!

We'll see ya on September 10th at the White River Amphitheatre, Joe!!!

Hey all!!! I cleaned up some rough demos a bit and wanted to share them with you guys. I'm still working out "Opus In E Minor" to the point where my head hurts!! :-)

The "Broken Hand Blues" was my first effort this year after an operation on my right hand and Irish Song came next. The improvement in my playing is pretty darn noticeable.... although I must admit that I'm playing as well or better than I ever have now.

You guys have inspired me to keep working on my technique and continue to educate myself about my instrument. Studying Satch's work has already left a mark on my playing and I hope that as I become more familiar with his work that it continues to influence my playing.

Thanks to you all..... this is a great message board.

death cube k, Thanks for listening to the track!!! My playing has been improving thanks to the motivation I get from all of the talent on this board and of "The Great Ones" Satch, Vai, etc.....

Is there somewhere that everyone posts their music sites?

Stu, That will be awesome.... having everyone's music easily available for listening. I've heard many members of t2j's music and I must admit to being overwhelmingly humbled.

Here's my site once again.... I've been updating it as I improve the tunes.

I'm thinking about taking the plunge and buying a JS1000, is it a great guitar like all of the reviews say? I love my S-series axes (S-540FM and S-370), but I guess that the difference is the neck with it's compound radius. I'm getting great tone and my speed is improving, just wondering if it's a worthwhile investment. Thanks in advance!

P.S. I own Guild and Martin acoustics and Gibson Les Pauls, so I'm used to having great instruments in my hands.

jdavis102,

Thanks for the reply... I'll try both the Ibanez JS1000 and a Parker Fly. I saw Mark Farner shred on a "Fly" a few years ago and was very intrigued.

Joe,

I'm looking forward to Sept 10th at the White River Amphitheatre...... a little embarassed to say ...it will be my first time seeing you LIVE !!!

Thanks to you all for your input....I am considering the js2000 because it's an option.. the heavy bridge is supposed to add to the sustain..????

I'm a Les Paul player.... in Satch land...the Jem7DBK is by far the frontrunner.... I've already bought the EVO pickups to replace the "Breeds"... change my mind...

I just want a nice addition to my guitar arsenal...one that will blow the rest away!!!!

Suzie... Ordered the Jem on Friday..... I've owned 2 Flying V's, an Explorer, A Mark III, an ES 125, an L6s... all Gibsons...I've had a couple of Strats and have built a few Warmouth guitars.... (I live about 30 moiles from Ken Warmouth) but the Les Pauls have long been my standby.

I think that the Jem is going to change all of that!!!

Death Cube..... I love that Lightning bolt strap!!! It matches the paint job on my S-470 perfectly...

JS-JS.... Satch is playing in Seattle.... next Friday. It's not "An Evening With Joe", but I'm going to "suffer" through the other bands to see Joe!!! Just break down and go!!!

2. I saw Joe Satriani play a FANTASTIC set at The White River Amphitheatre!!! Words won't do.....

Thank you Joe, for the great, very intimate show.... we were TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY!!!!!!!!!
